if he is, then you'll get a biscuit -
Just had a quick look at some of those results we had our first season up in the premier! Some proper hammerings in there (two 7-1 score lines and quite a few 4-0) By and by, has that been our best ever season in the PL considering we played free flowing football, had a genius playing behind a dangerous predator, and 9 men behind them working to get the ball to them? also of course considering it was our first season back in the big time? Could probably say it's definitely one of the happiest seasons being a newcastle fan

Best performance by the Toon Army has to be first half at home to Barca, and away at Inter
-
Damn you Tooj! you're bringing back some memories! The 4-0 at home to Ferencvaros was quite impressive in that we were chilled most of the game, and scored every time we decided to score. THAT Ginola goal just made it all the more special!

3-0 at QPR - Sunday evening game iirc (circa 93/94 in the PL) 3rd goal (again iirc) was worked by Cole and finished by Beardsley. Stunning stuff. Was the day I fell in love with everything Newcastle United. edit: upon checking, it was 2-1 away at QPR. The 3-0 was home to Liverpool, with a Cole hattrick

Was that the Monday night game, won 3-0? Aye. We absolutely hammered them, I've never seen anything like it. I think it might have been Les Sealey in goal for them, but we could have easily got double figures that night and nobody couldn't have said we didn't deserve it. t'was

just to make sure.... the old board sucks the new board cocks!! discuss FYP-This is actually what i thought it said!! i see what u done there! works for me -
dont think i't true tbh. Think Levy is being his usual stingy self and the deal will go through eventually. Brummie, that pic makes it look like he's celebrating the goal and nothing else. btw where's kaka lately? he said we'll definately not sign Bentley because he'll be off to villa (add to that his claim that kewell will be a spurs player). If Bentley had any sense that's where he would of gone. Why? Think they're a club on the up, the one arguably most likely to break into the top four. not fucking likely! much as i hate spurs, i think a lot on here are in denial that they are the ones most likely to break into the top 4. Ramos is no mug, and his brand of attacking football could sweep the premiership and open the top 4 door on its hinges. of course, this is assuming they end up with Arshavin and someone like David Villa.

without a shadow of doubt the best analysis so far with the addendum that we're headed towards taking the place of the aforementioned clubs and punching below our weight, we'd better be careful 'cause look how long it took them to drag themselves back Spurs, Everton and Villa ? ALL THREE of those clubs have had genuine real trophy winning success in the last 40 years since we did anything at all, and ALL THREE of those clubs were above us for the vast majority of this time. Its only recent history which has seen us get above those clubs for most of the time. I like some of your posts mate, but you have this the wrong way round I'm afraid. This is true, but NONE of those clubs have matched us for support since SJP was redeveloped after the club was taken over by SJH in the early 90s - and NONE of them would match us now IF we got back into the Top 4 and somehow increased the size of SJP OR built another stadium... IF being the operative word. I am abviously aware like yourself that the old board managed to finally get the ground re-developed after 80 years of bungling by previous regimes. Those clubs have only fallen further behind us - in ground capacity terms - since expanding the stadium 10 years ago, a move contributing hugely to our "debts" that many people slate, presumably because they think we ought to have kept the stadium at a 36,000 capacity. I've said before, the club should have moved. It is the old boards biggest mistake. When the Castle Leazes project fell through, they should have moved elsewhere. The council would have caved in when they realised the club meant what they said and would pull the club out of the city centre. I know some people say they simply wouldn't have been given planning permission to build anywhere else, but thats the whole point. They should have said "you will give us planning permission or we will move out of the city". I would put progress before tradition, personally. I would love the club to have a stadium like the Millenium in Cardiff. absolutely

my bet would be Juande Ramos

Spot on Dave It's not exactly rocket science that we have thread bare squad that needs major beefing up. I'm also quite sure KK and the 3 stooges would want to bring in the best players possible. If anyone thinks they do not realize we need good players, and if anyone thinks we're actually actively pursuing average players as a policy, then they need to pull their finger out. Q for NE5: I'm in no way comparing us to Wigan as a football club overall. But I have a question for NE5. Do you sir think that Dave Whelan was taking a progressive ambitious step in bidding to take Owen there (as had been reported), or do you see it as a failure on his part to sell the club to a high profile player like Owen? I think for a club like Wigan, to buy a player like Owen, is nothing other than a bid to sell shirts. Owen knows full well Wigan will never be good enough for him, and Wigan likewise. Just my opinion. What do you think ? Oh I agree entirely. But you haven't answered my question. Obviously a player like Owen joining a club like Wigan would drastically improve the playing staff, not to mention raise the profile of the club, and be a pulling power for other players to join. It was never going to happen of course, as Wigan are nowhere near big enough as a club to attract a top name like that. But from a chairman's/set-up point of view, do you see Whelan's bid as a stunt, an ambitious shot in the dark, a genuine bid to move the club forward, or a total failure on his part to attract a player of Owen's standing?
