A lad I know reckons he won't buy the shirt if it's got a black Puma logo on it because the Mackems are known as the black cats. FFS!
-
Kyle Naughton as backup to Enrique? He's only on loan at Boro and he won't get in the Tottingham side ahead of either Bale or Assou-Ekotto.
-
I'm pretty sure David Bentley got loaned out a lot by Arsenal and now he's an England International
-
I think they'll snap up Joe Cole on a free tranfer personally.

The trio of Nolan, Guthrie and Barton should be vying for one spot in midfield IMO. Although they are not identicial players they are similar in that they are neither creative midfielders of defensive midfielders. OK Nolan has weighed in with a few goals, Guthrie has weighed in with a couple too as well as a few assists and Barton is a bit more combative than the other two but none of them will sit like a Mascherano/Parker/Palacios or create something out of nothing like a Joe Cole/Benayoun/Arshavin type. At the moment we simply don't have enough diversity in the middle of the park and it could be our downfall if we don't address it. Smith and Butt should go, to be replaced by a younger, fitter more technically-gifted ball winner and we need to get someone who is capable of individual moments of brilliance, because this is often the key to winning tight games in the Premier League. Fuck knows who we could get to fill these voids but if we go into the top division with two central midfield plodders we'll get dry bummed.

Urby Emanuelson has said he'll be leaving Ajax on a Bosman in 2011. Worth a cheeky bid? Be flabbergasted if a) we made a bid or b) if we did he moved. I wouldn't be that surprised if we made a bid. He fits the bill in terms of our transfer policy - young, resale value, possible bargain due to contract situation. I doubt very much if he would be interested though

I'd be dubious about signing any players from Burnley to be honest. They're going down because the players aren't good enough for the Premier League (with a couple of exceptions perhaps). The difference with raiding Portsmouth is that they are primarily going down because of the upheaval at the club and the subsequent points deduction. They have a much better standard of players who, individually, have shown that they can perform at Premier League level - Prince Boateng, Piqionne, Diop, Belhadj etc.
-
I say we wait to see if we can sign someone better and if not get him in on a year contract to provide cover
-
Larsson agreed a new contract extension the other day. Booooooooooooooooo!!
-
I'd probably take all of those Premier League ones. They seem to have omitted Seb Larsson from the big list - i'm almost certain he's out of contract this summer
-
Feel free to try and find a fully up-to-date one yourself. This is about as good as you're gonna get

Given the number of decent out of contract players knocking about this summer I wouldn't rule out the possibility of us splashing a decent amount on a proven striker or midfielder. If we can pick up 2-3 free players and a couple on the cheap who are in the last year of their contract then we could use the £15m to buy a decent striker and a mobile central midfielder.
-
I'm so fucking bored of this stuff already and we haven't even kicked a ball in the Premier League yet.

He's another Damien Duff, Nicky Butt, Stephen Carr, Geremi waiting to happen IMO How the hell would you know that? I'm pretty sure IMO stands for In My Opinion. I'd echo the sentiment too, he hasn't looked like a top player since 07-08. I just don't think that you can really say that Keane is likely to come here play poor purely because Damien Duff, Nicky Butt, Stephen Carr, Geremi etc. have. Incidentally, Duff and Carr have gone on to play well and stay in the top flight. Duff may even have a medal for winning the Europa League this season. I still think Keane is a very talented player. His peak was 07-08 but he is still a very good Premiership player. When you say he hasn't looked like a top player since 07/08 I assume you mean a player that should be in a team competing for a European spot finish? surely your not saying he hasn't been good enough for a Premiership side since 07/08? I would not want Keane here unless the wages were low and the fee was very reasonable. I'm also warming to the plan of investing in younger players who can have a better return on investment, whether that be developing in to a good player, having lower wages or having a better re-sale value. My opinion comes from the fact that just about every player we have signed, who has had their best years at other clubs, has been a massive disappointment. The club have wasted millions and millions of pounds in transfer fees and wages for other team's cast-offs. The one good things Ashley seems to have brought to this club is a sensible transfer policy and I hope we don't break it for the likes of Keane. If he was cheap or free and prepared to come on a pay-as-you-play basis or a one year contract on say £30k per week then fine, but the chances of that happening are nil.

Fletcher would be considerably more affordable and has proven to be decent in a shocking side. Altidore? Not scoring much and having not seen anything of Hull this year not sure how he has played. Nugent? Improvement on what we have i guess, not a good scoring record either though Picnic/Diodane would both be affordable however both are limited strikers. Guess in terms of players at the bottom we may well need to look abroad tbh. Still not wholely convinced Keane is the answer mind I've been impressed with Altidore when i've seen him play but he's not exactly prolific. Piqionne isn't a bad shout and that Dindane fella has looked alright as well. He reminds me a bit of Martins - pacy, stong and has the ability to do good stuff but can also be fucking woeful.
-
Keane is exactly the kind of striker we need ie. proven and pacy, but his best years are behind him and i'm sure his wage demands would be an issue. Like the previous poster I would prefer Cisse but he comes with the same problems - age and wages. What we need is an up-and-coming striker in this mould but I can't think of any. Hopefully there are some plying their trade overseas that we can pick up on the cheap
-
Take Keane out that list and I'd fully agree. Yeah, i'd be chuffed to bits if we got O'Hara, Belhadj and Boateng. The shine would be taken offit if we signed Keane though.

I had a dream that Cheryl Cole sat on my face. Now THAT was a good dream!

"Typical Germans surrounding the referee". The senile old cunt makes himself look more and more stupid every time he opens his mouth. Talk about double standards.

Well I'm doing a journalism degree and I want to be a journalist. I don't consider myself to be a c***, but I'm 100% with you in your dislike for these cretins that spout constant unbased s*** about us. We're told constantly by a tutor that still writes freelance for Uefa's website that very few people get to become football writers, and when you're told that you wonder how pricks like this guy from Express got the job in the first place. Felating the Editor most probably.
