 It's a nice try mate but there are too many doom mongers on here who refuse to remove their hollywood-signing tinted spectacles. Unless a player has a £10+ price tag they're just not worth bothering with according to half the dickheads on here. I echo your sentiments. I think the players we've brought in are excellent and i'm excited to see how the two new additions work out. I'm also pretty confident that Jonas will make a bigger impact this season than Robinho but that will no doubt fall on deaf ears. You can have no way of knowing that any of the players we have brought in are 'excellent' - no way of knowing at all. Give me your opinion on them in a years or so's time, and I will tell you mine then too. No doubt your opinion of them will go something like "They've done well but i'd have preferred fat Mike to splash £200m of his massive fortune on some big name players". Admittedly i haven't seen them play an entire season but what i have seen is 3 foreign players (2 of them current internationals for one of the world's best international teams) adapt to a new league in a new country very quickly, and put in excellent performances against the reigning european champions. Guthrie perhaps doesn't look excellent yet but he's certainly improved our CM area. I understand that positivity has no place on this forum but I make no apologies for my optimism. and you know this how? Just a hunch. Don't give up your day job mate! So you are impressed with the signings we've brought in, you do agree that the squad is stronger than it was last season and you are impressed with the new recruitment team's ability to sign quality players without spending ridiculous ums of money?

Meh! Coloccini's gonna tear him a new ass hole.

Playing the man who has the most assists (guessing) for us last season is an absolute farce? Geremi's never going to set the world alight but he's no Smith. I'm not going to deny Geremi has a good delivery, he probably has the best in our team. But he in no way should be starting on our right wing. He has zero pace, can't beat a man and due to his lack of pace has problems tracking back when opponents break quickly, leaving Beye badly exposed. My piont is Milner should have never been sold if we weren't going to buy a replacement. Why are you ignoring Geremi being a better player than Milner. There is also an arguement that Jonas was bought as Milner's replacement as he plays on the right wing. Seriously, f*** off. You must still be pissed if you think Geremi is a better player than Milner. My piont is also even if Jonas was brought in to play on the right, with our squad being so small he'll end playing on the left a fair bit. Geremi is a better player than Milner. He scores more and he creates more despite being older and slower. Milner has scored 11 goals in 136 appearances for fuck's sake and is the worst crosser of a ball i've ever seen.

No replacement for Faye? What about Bassong? He's looked pretty good so far and he's 9 years younger than Faye. I'd say that's a reasonable replacement
-
only if he is that good, then valencia keep him It's better than going through the whole of this season without one though isn't it.
-
We tried for Modric but didn't get him We tried for Aimar but didn't get him We were interested in Nasri but he went to Arsenal. We've blatantly tried to sign a top class ACM but unfortunately it hasn't happened. Instead of going through the season without one, or splashing ridiculous money on Arda or Arshavin, Keegan takes a punt on a lesser known south american, but to minimise the risk he takes him on loan rather than buying him outright. That way if he's shite we have no obligation but if he's good we keep him. It's a win-win deal and a very sensible way of doing business.
-
I can't find him on youtube, only videos of the left back with the same name. Anyone help?
-
Not unexpected. Arsenal are class, especially at home and we were without 3-4 first team players. What probably would've helped our cause is if we put the fucking ball into the box from free kicks. Every time we had a free kick in their half we played it short and it ended up going backwards. What's the fucking point? It's a bit Bolton-esque but when you're behind in a game, put the fucking ball in the fucking box at every fucking opportunity. You only have to look at the Coventry game to see what can happen. Fuck me!

Any post match comments from Keegan yet? The missus has turned over to watch the X Factor FFS!

Milner was out of the team for the entirety of our winning run towards the end of last season. We scored more goals, and in general were a lot more effective without him on the pitch. Before he became a frist-team regular we had Nobby Solano who was twice the player Milner is. He created more and he scored more. If we want to get back to challenging for Europe we need less players of James Milner's standard and more players of Nobby Solano's standard. So much has been reported about the behind the scenes shenanigans here but in actual fact we, and the media, know f*** all about what's going on. Mike Ashley may be a business man but he's not an idiot. If he's prepared to sell Milner it's because we have someone better lined up to replace him, no doubt. He's looking to make us a successful team and he's looking to attract fresh investment into the club. You don't do that by further depleting a threadbare squad. Have faith.

I don't think the new board are reluctant to spend, they're just reluctant to take any sort of risk what-so-ever. In the past we have been prepared to take big risks on players which on the whole have backfired. Unfortunately i think the new board are at the other end of the spectrum in that they are overly cautious. Although i much prefer the new way of working, the board have to loosen up a bit. Trying to alleviate all elements of risk from player transfers in nigh-on impossible and is likely to leave us with a threadbare squad. The money is clearly there but IMO our overly stringent vetting procedure is hindering our chances of significantly improving the squad. Stop fucking about and get some players signed FFS!

A winger should be one of the most contributing players on a football pitch over the course of a season. They are in the team to create goals (10-15) and score goals (10+ ideally). Milner doesn't do this and never has. Robert, Ginola, Robben, Giggs, Overmars, Petrov, Ashley Young, Bentley(perhaps) - all examples of wingers who consistently create/created and score/scored a significant number of goals every season.

I never try to criticise posts on here but wow, what a poor post. Sounds like a guy who watched his very first Newcastle game last night.
-
That would make sense, but there's no link between Liverpool getting Barry and SWP coming here is there? None at all. It's purely speculation but we know that Liverpool want Barry and he wants to play for them. It seems that Villa want Milner and he wants to go. We won't sell Milner unless we have a top class winger in to replace him. Keegan rates SWP and chelsea are seemingly happy to let him leaves. It seems like a realistic scenario to me.
-
Milner to Villa Barry to Liverpool SWP to Newcastle
-
In all honesty the guy has been treated pretty shabbily in his time here - sent out on loan, transfer agreed and then cancelled at the last minute etc. Not too surprised he wants out but i am a bit disappointing he's done it in this way. As long as we get a decent replacement in who can actually cross a ball well It's no great loss IMO.

CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!! Anyone else fucking despise Chris Coleman? Don't know what it is about him that boils my piss so much but i just can't fucking stand him.
-
Shite time to concede but i haven't seen us piss on a team to this extent for a long time. Why is Milner's crossing with his left foot so much better than his crossing with his right foot?
-
Whoever this star signing is (if it happens) i'm pretty sure it'll be a creative midfielder. Bids for Modric and Aimar show that a playmaker is very much top of our agenda so i'm excited to see who the club bring in. My major concern is that Michael Owen is the wow signing and we'll have to make do with an OK CM signing
-
I know he wasn't at the open training, but I was under the impression that Keegan said he had been training with us. I would imagine that he will be playing in this behind closed doors game today as well. Bottom line, if he's available and he's as good as we seem to think he is, I would be disappointed if he wasn't played on Sunday. Taken from the Chronicle: Or whether his fellow countryman Fabricio Coloccini has finally become a United player, <b>although he has been training with them for nearly a week now</b>.

Just when you thought he couldn't make himself look any more of a twat.................
