Especially as that lone striker would no doubt be Alan fucking Smith
-
But in Martins we have an explosive, pacy striker who can score goals from inside or outside the box with his left or right foot, and he's also pretty good in the air. There is no logical explanation for Martins not being picked over Smith. And while i'm on a rant, if Keegan is prepared to let us drop into the bottom 3 and possibly get relegated because he refuses to pick Viduka due to a bad attitude, despite the fact that he represents a far more potent threat on goal than Smith ever will, then he should leave. By all means kick Viduka out in the summer, but we need him right now (bad attitude or not). We all know that Viduka would have buried that header against Blackburn - the one that Smith ballooned over the bar from 3 yards out. He'd probably have helped himself to a couple more as well such was our dominance.
-
To be honest i'd probably be less frustrated if it was true. At least that would explain this fucking lunacy. Playing that plank out of choice is a far more worrying scenario.

Sorry about this fellas, but i have nowhere else to vent my anger. Keegan has had 7 games - 5 of which we've lost and 2 of which we've drawn. No wins in 7 games with Alan Smith up front. In that time we've scored 3 goals. Smith has scored 0 and created 0 yet he still gets picked ahead of Martins, Viduka, Ameobi and Carroll. I'm fucking seething about this useless cunt being in the starting 11 week after week when we have much more capable alternatives on the bench. We're in a relegation scrap for fucks sake! We need fucking goals! What the fuck is going on?! Does he really have this 'plays if fit' clause in his contract?
-
Geremi has to play in this game. He's no world beater but he contributes 10 times as much as Butt, Barton and Smith.
-
He's less than two inches taller than Cacapa if Wiki is right It was a small over-exageration i admit.
-
He's also available now and Free. We're in a relegation battle FFS!
-
He looks like another big fucker! He's about a foot taller than Cacapa which is a big plus. Two massive centre backs who play with each other at international level sounds like a decent idea
-
seconded! I'd like to see Taylor benched for this one as well. With those four removed we should stand a reasonable chance My pick: ............................Harper Beye.......Cacapa...........Faye........Enrique Milner.....Geremi...........Emre........N'Zogbia ..............Owen.............Martins
-
Don't want Chimbonda. He's a right wanker!
-
I'd be absolutely garbage at Futsal. I've seen tables with quicker feet than mine. Can hold my own on the 5-a-side pitch because i've got a hammer of a right foot but other than that..........
-
I'd rather see Ameobi, Carroll, Viduka, Martins, Owen, Terry McDermott, Noddy, The Jolly Green Giant or Free Willy up front than Alan Smith - he's fucking useless. In fact, i'd go so far as to say he's one of the least effective strikers i've ever seen in a black and white shirt.
-
If Smith plays in midfield he's in a more influential position where he offers even less. How can he offer less than nothing?
-
Out with the shite and in with the shite. At least if Smith plays in midfield it means he's not up front doing the sum total of fuck all

Kevin Keegan confirmed on Saturday that Newcastle's Joey Barton would be unable to play in either of our upcoming away fixtures on Merseyside due to the terms of his bail release. Barton will miss the trip to Anfield on Saturday week and theoretically also the season closer at Goodison Park in May as he's unable to set foot in Liverpool city centre. The 25 year-old midfielder is due in court on March 15th to answer charges arising from an incident in the early hours of December 27th 2007. And Barton is also due to stand trial in Manchester on June 30th over the training ground clash with former Man City team mate Ousmane Dabo on May 1st 2007.

Too much pressure on a lad who is only 20 years old. Stick him in a defence that works, alongside a comanding leader and he'll shine. Expecting him to deal with the barrage of attacks that our piss poor midfield let through every game is too much. Like another poster said Beye and Faye were part of the backline as well but no-one is blaming them. Personally I think it's time for Taylor to be rested so that our two more experienced CBs can try to dig us out of this hole. The fact is we were on a hiding to nothing from the start with Barton and Butt in the centre, and we will continue to ship goals unless they are dropped.

Keep: Faye Martins Taylor Beye Owen Milner (backup) Get rid of everyone else and start again.

Newcastle United chairman Chris Mort has assured Kevin Keegan he will be given time to get things right. "It is clear that Kevin has had an immediate and very positive impact," he told The Times. "The feedback from the players and backroom staff has all been very positive. Although the players are working harder in training, they are enjoying it more and improving their fitness levels. We appreciate it will take time for Kevin to turn things around. "He has a three-and-a-half year contract and we are looking to see what can be achieved over that period. He has already got the team playing more football and I am comfortable that the results will follow once we get that first win. We also appreciate that we could have seen out this season and brought Kevin to the club in the summer, but that would have meant another transition season next season and we wanted to avoid that." While the timing of Allardyce's dismissal was not perfect - Keegan was unable to secure any established first-team players during the remainder of the transfer window after his appointment on January 16 - Mort is adamant that the club will benefit from the change in due course. "The club will be better prepared [for next summer], as we have a manager and scouting team with several months to consider both where we need strengthening and who we might bring in, whereas last summer we had a new manager and new senior scouting staff joining in the summer that had not worked at the club previously," Mort said. "In addition, whilst I appreciate we have had a poor run of results, we have a much stronger squad of players now than that with which we finished last season. So we will also have the advantage of adding new players to a much stronger base."

Distin, Domi, Bernard, Robert, Ginola and N'Zogbia all did well enough. Goma was OK Viana looked alright at first but god knows what happened. He does seem to be an exception though. Ronaldo, Nani, Boa Morte, Tiago, Paolo Ferriera, Carvalho have all done well in the Premiership.
-
French players generally do well here but their attitudes stink. Ginola and Robert aside, every French player we've had has engineered a move away or caused bother in some way. Spanish players just seem unable to adapt to the North east culture. There are actually very few Spaniards who settle in the Premiership at all in fact, and of those that do the majority are either in London or at a club with a large Spanish contingent such as Liverpool. I wouldn't rule out signing any player from anywhere to be honest but it just seems we've had bad luck with players from these two countries in particular. I really hope Enrique is an exception because he looks a decent player from the little i've seen of him.
-
Smith and Owen it is then. We're fucked!
-
Man U would be daft to get rid of Carrick. His passing was the key factor in them destroying Arsenal at the weekend. I'd like him here but he'd cost us a fortune and i can't see him coming anyway.
-
I want us to go after young players who are hungry and keen to establish themselves, not players who are just coming here for the money and the nightlife. Talk of Ronaldinho, Nani, Deco etc. doesn't interest me any more and for the most part it's completely unrealistic. I'd far rather we bought lesser known players and watched them emerge, and develop into stars under Keegan. That's far more exciting than signing a Ronaldinho for £50m, paying him £120,000 per week and watching him become a shadow of the player he used to be. Hopefully Vetere can work his magic in the summer and bag us a few gems from Portugal, South America, Eastern Europe etc. (But no more Frenchies or Spaniards). NB. If we could get Bentley I do think he'd be worth the money

Restoring confidence and belief in the squad after Man Utd give us a mauling at the weekend.
