  1. Ashley and Mort were perfectly within their rights to sack a man they didn't employ because he didn't meet their criteria. If THEY had hired him and then sacked him after 8 months it would've been a different matter. If you bought a company that was performing badly and you wanted to turn it around what's the first thing you'd do?
  2. I think it will be another walk in the park for Sir Alex Ferguson's men against a team they have had much joy against over the years at Old Trafford. Regardless of whether Newcastle get a new manager or not by Saturday, I don't think the Magpies will get a sniff. But they could help their cause by playing players in the right positions. Regardless of who we get in next, thank fuck we won't have to watch players being shoehorned into positions they're not comfortable in.

    Mark Hughes

I'd only be happy with Hughes if he brought Santa Cruz, McCarthy, Bentley and Gamst Pedersen with him. Not saying he's a bad manager but i think we can get better
  4. Don't get me wrong though I'm not championing Redknapp, and i certainly wouldn't turn down a Wenger, Ferguson or Benitez but i would at least like our new man to have a personality. Allardyce's post-match interviews (when he could be arsed to give them himself) were painful to watch.
  5. I totally agree about this being a special club - a one off. And I believe it needs a character in charge. Unfortunately there seems to be no place at the top of the modern game for characters. Other than Jose i struggle to think of anyone else. There are one or two in the lower leagues - Boothroyd, Holloway, Warnock and one that i can think of in the Scottish league - Strachan, but other than that the game is full of serious, dour, emotionless managers. Hughes, Grant, Wenger, Allardyce, Bruce, Benitez, Jewell, Hodgson, Ramos - barely a personality between them. Unfortunately i think the nearest you can get to a character in the Prem is Harry Redknapp.
  6. The one difference with Harry is that you know he will be going out to win every game. He'll set up with an attack minded team and go for the win whether at home of away. Although it would be a hugely underwhelming choice, at least we wouldn't have to put up with Owen getting no service, N'Zogbia played at left back and the slowest most stagnant central midfield pairing in the league. Trying to take the positives out of another bad situation.

    Jose Mourinho

Yes, i think we can blame the booing and the reactions on FF. He promised us world class managers and served up Souness and Roeder, then sat back with his pockets full of our money while his "top managers" predictably served up shyte and set this club back 10 years. We'd have had a lot more patience with Allardyce had we not had to endure the crap that came before him.

    Jose Mourinho

We're a laughing stock thanks to our calamitous former Chairman not because of anything we've done. The reason we're still regarded as the best set of fans is because despite the shite we've been served up for the last 4 years we still fill our stadium. So what if we boo at matches, what set of fans doesn't when their team aren't performing. At least we're at the match in the first place.
  9. According to Vitalfootball: In just a typically bizarre NUFC move it looks like we agreed a £5.5m fee for Arsenal`s Lassana Diarra just hours before Sam left St James`. However it is alleged that the management had given Sam a pot of just £8m to work from for the January window. Where this leaves any move for the bairn is anyone`s guess. The same can also be applied to Hungarian youngster Tamas Kadar. Having been set to sign under Allardyce, is his move set to break down or was it Chris Mort/the scouting network responsible for his purchase?

    Jose Mourinho

Anyone else remember the comment Mourinho made when in charge of Chelsea about it being one of the hardest/worst jobs in football in some respects, because no matter how successful you were people just pointed to the money at your disposal? He didn't feel he got the respect or the credit he deserved for making Chelsea into a Premiership superpower. The disappointments we've experienced regarding dire managerial appointments happened under a previous regime. Hype about a world class manager resulting in pure frustration and despair as Souness, Roeder and Allardyce were unveiled. Those were the days of Freddy Shepherd. Our new owner has been sitting with the fans, listening to our grumblings and the opinions of knowledgeable football fans. I have a lot more faith in this man and Chris Mort than i ever had in Fat Fred. We're just so used to the disappointments of the past that we find it impossible to believe that something incredible could happen. The board gave Allardyce their full backing at the weekend and i really believe they meant it, but given the timings and nature of his sacking something has happened to change their mind - namely someone better expressing their interest in the job. Otherwise why now? Allardyce has just signed 2 promising youngsters and has made enquiries for two new players - obviously sanctioned by the board, and had (if you believe the papers) been given a few million to spend. I'm not saying it will be Mourinho but I don't think anyone is in a position to say it won't be.
  12. He's been in the Shire for a couple of weeks recuperating. He's back now though (with freshly shaved feet)
  13. Defoe and Chimbonda. Not sure how good Routledge is but he is a creative midfielder so he might be worth a shout too
  14. Would be a fantastic addition. Someone with a bit of pace in the centre of midfield is well needed. Still a tad worried about the lack of creativity in the middle. Can anyone think of a creative midfielder we could realistically go for. And by realistic i don't mean Diego, Sneijder, Van der Vaart etc. Someone mentioned Zoltan Gera in a previous post. Not a bad shout.
  15. I don't think it's fair to give any of our strikers stick. The fact that Viduka has managed to get any goals at all this season is a fucking miracle given that he's feeding off the scraps of scraps. I'd be tearing my fucking hair out if i was him, Martins Owen or Smith
  16. I know it's generally regarded as bad form to bemoan lack of luck in sport but FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't remember the last time we got a decent draw in either domestic cup

    Nicky Butt

I just wish someone would tell the ginger clodder to get his head over the fucking ball when he shoots. You think he'd have figured it out by now. 3 shots today, none on target, all over the bar. Every fucking week!

    Ameobi

I suppose you're happy with the way things are going currently M4TT? The only reason i suggested it was because our others strikers have been so inaffective. Why not try someone different, even if that person is Shola?
  19. steve_69

    Ben Haim

In that case we need to sign 2 creative central midfielders a left back and centre back

    Ameobi

Yeah, things have got so bad I want Ameobi back in the team. Viduka, Martins and Smith haven't scored anywhere near enough goals between them, Owen isn't match fit and we haven't got anyone else. Give him a shot. Either that or sign Jermaine Defoe!

    Ameobi

I realise that i got a bit side-tracked there but a bit of name dropping never hurt. I don't know too much about him as a person but my cousin reckons he used to be a top lad but gone a bits nuts recently. Anyway, i don't think Shola is the answer to our problems but we've tried everything else and achieved fuck all. Our strikers our one of our main problems at the moment. If they'd put away a third of the chances they've missed we'd be in the top half of the table by now. All i'm saying is that maybe a change of personnel up front may give us a new dimension and spark us into life. What harm can it do?

    Ameobi

Ameobi is actually engaged to a good friend of my cousin but she hasn't seen either of them for ages. He's apparently turned into a real wierdo since he found religion, and has stopped his fiance seeing her old friends because they live in sin. If he thinks that of a few girls who like go out on the lash, imagine what he thinks about his team mates.
