  1. Eh? We would be in the exact same place If we had more commercial revenue coming in instead of Ashley using us as to advertise his own business for free, we'd be in the same place in the rich list? Have i missed something? Ah you meant where would we be in a pointless list of clubs turnover? I was talking about the real world where Ashley wouldnt spend the extra money so the club would be exactly where we are now. No argument from me there. We could be top of the list and nothing would change from that side of things. However, every position we climb up that league makes us more attractive to potential buyers, especially when you consider that our commercial revenue opportunities are nowhere near being maximised. From that perspective it isn't useless. Actually any buyers would be more interested in the accounts first and foremost, especially ones showing huge profits they could make, they certainly wouldnt look at a list as a guide to buying anyone. OK, you win
  2. The guy is just so embarrassing. Those clips of him throwing his coat around last season man. Just an absolute idiot. He's already turned his nose up at West Brom and Palace, so I don't know what the hell job he thinks he will get. He's a moron. No one wants the guy here anyway. As his CV sits unread on Charnley's desk
  3. In grim times you've got to cling on to the smallest rays of hope.
  4. Isn't Pardew, isn't Carver, isn't Kinnear, plays decent football, has won some stuff. Not ideal but i wouldn't be too disappointed. However, if he gets Derby promoted I doubt he'll come

  7. Just think where we'd be if Ashley didn't limit the amount of commercial revenue we bring in.
  8. Who'd be needing a massive payoff? Galtier or McLaren? Carver, Woodman and Stone - all contracted until 2020.
  9. I called this about 10 pages ago. It's such an obvious Ashley move and I reckon that's what could have scuppered any potential deal for Garde.
  10. The last line sums Talksport up perfectly - "The attacking midfielder is currently out of work, after leaving Malaga in May 2014"

    Positives?

I forgot about Duff. Must have subconsciously erased all traces of him from my memory. They were not good times for this club.

    Positives?

In terms of him as a professional and a person he definitely tops the bill. In terms of ability, Alan Smith, Nicky Butt, Babayaro and Williamson boiled my piss far more
  13. I think Pardew had convinced himself that we did play front foot, attacking football.
  14. Which is what those people are suggesting should happen, not what they believe will happen. No different to the people saying we should have a traditional manager who has the final say on transfers, when obviously we know that won't happen either. I doubt anyone here believes we can produce a great system that will bring in a very balanced quality squad. But that also doesn't mean the director of Football/head coach system is a bad thing, because that's not what stops us from getting that kind of squad, Mike Ashley and the constraints he puts on the kind of signings we can make stops us from getting that kind of squad and that won't change with or without the current setup in place. There's absolutely nothing in the Charnley statement to suggest that there will be a healthy relationship between the head coach, chief scout/DoF and MD/dealmaker, so I'm just astounded reading so many people's optimism regarding us openly stating that the new manager will have very little say in transfers. That is all. It's just a system devised for maximum profit in the transfer market, not one supporting what should be the main focus of a football club, i.e. the (first team) manager and his squad of players. There is if you read it with your eyes. In fact, that's pretty much exactly what he says. Whether or not it's true is another matter. Given that the club openly admitted at the Keegan tribunal that it 'repeatedly and intentionally misled the press, public and the fans of Newcastle United' then it's impossible not to view everything they say with a huge amount of cynicism. I completely agree but in the statement Charnley specifically states that he, Carr and the Head Coach will work together as a team to identify areas that need strengthening and the player recruitment team will actively target players to suit the playing style of the Head Coach. He specifically states that they will work as a team. To say he doesn't say anything of that nature is total nonsense. However, given the club is run by idiots there's a good chance it's bullshit and they'll just buy players they believe they can make a profit on. Having said that, it's not in anyone's interest to do that because if the manager doesn't play the players he is given, their value will never increase - Ferreyra, Bigirimana, Marveaux, Anita, Ben Arfa, Haidara, Cabella etc.

  16. It might not but if a total clown like Pardew can get us top 10 finishes with the players Carr finds, I'm confident that a decent 'Head Coach' can do significantly better. This regime are a fucking shambles and a disgrace to this club but the one area that actually works well is our scouting setup. We consistently bring in good players and there's nothing to suggest we won't continue to do so.
  17. Arguably the only reason Pardew didn't relegate us is because he wasn't allowed final say over transfers. A contigent of top quality players in every squad he 'managed' kept us from being relegation fodder. If he'd had been allowed to buy his own players we'd have sunk like a stone. I think the system can work with a better manager as well and I think it will be attractive to a lot of continental managers as long as Charnley, Carr and Ashley are COMPLETELY honest and up front during the interview process eg. not interested in cup runs, will sell players if the right offer comes in and not necessarily replace them, not interested in European football etc. If, as Charnley says, they will only target players to suit the preferred playing style of the new Head Coach then OK. Let's start by getting the right man in and see how the system works with someone who isn't a total fuckwit.
  18. The whole trust thing that Charnley kept harping on about is actually really important in this setup. If the new 'Head Coach' trusts the scouting network's ability to get him a quality CB when he asked for one it can work fine. The club has proved that they can deliver quality players within this 'value' remit time after time. As long as the players that are brought in suit the preferred playing style of the Head Coach it isn't a problem. That's what's so baffling about the overwhelming gushing about Pardew from Charnley, Ashley etc. The players that were brought in more often than not didn't suit his shit style so he didn't use them and he wasn't flexible enough to adapt the team to accomodate them. He didn't develop a single player they brought in and he didn't give youth a chance. And he was a prize cunt.

    Positives?

We're not Mackems Pardew is no longer our manager

    Lee Charnley

Would have been nice to get some clarification on our approach to the cup competitions. Was that a Pardew thing or was it an Ashley thing?
  21. I'm the same age as Charnley and I have kids, and I look like a teenager compared to that poor egg-shaped bastard. What the hell has he been drinking FFS!?
  22. "we moved on significantly as a club during his four years, on and off the field, and Alan played a big part in that and I thank him" Just fucking no

    Remy Cabella

The dart board is to decide whether the transfer is going to happen or not and whether it's a loan or permanent transfer I think. I'm pretty sure they use real transfer rumours though. Either way, it's Talksport so like everything else on there it's probably shite.

    Remy Cabella

Talksport reporting that he's a genuine target for Swansea
  25. What if Charnley has already offered him the job but on the proviso he works with the existing coaching setup because Ashley refuses to pay them off? It would not surprise me in the slightest if that is one of the conditions the new manager has to agree to - seems like a very Ashley thing to do. Just thinking out loud..
