The Gouf taking out 12 months of frustration on Burnley. Amazing what a player can do when the manager plays to his strengths. Hope he bags himself a couple.
-
The scouting set up clearly works well and i don't think many of us have a problem with it. Selling players at a huge profit isn't really a problem either unless we fail to replace them in the next transfer window ala Cabaye. I also think most would accept the SD advertising if he would just install a decent manager and coaching setup, and left them to it ie. Try to qualify for Europe, try to win the cups etc. We're not a million miles away from having a setup that almost everyone would buy into but he won't make that extra step.
-
This is exactly it which is why it's so sad and frustrating that he is derided by so many of our fans. He has been Pardewed and hung out to dry. the guy scored 9 goals for us in his first season and most of the time he wasn't playing through the centre. I hope for his sake the new manager starts playing him in his natural position because he's a decent enough player for this league.
-
Jesus, I totally forgot about him. I'd take pretty much anyone over McLeish so he's probably a shoe-in for the job.
-
There are actually some decent European managers available for bugger all right now. We just need to find one with no spine, no balls and no ambition who's prepared to work for a pittance and we're good to go.
-
Hopefully Pardew leaving will see the resergence of Gouffran. No player has been Pardewed as badly as this guy and it's a fucking disgrace.
-
Be interesting to see the sort of players he buys now he'll be in charge of his own transfers. The succession of decent players he was presented with here is probably the only thing that saved us from relegation. On another note, i'm reserving my celebrations until I know who his replacement is.
-
I'd take Sherwood to be honest. He's a proper bell but at least he advocates attacking football. Doubt he'd agree to be gagged though, likes the sound of his own voice too much. Seeing as we're half way through the season and relegation doesn't look likely i could see Ashley putting Beardsley in charge 'until the end of the season'. If he does shit they'll replace him in the summer. If he does well they'll risk him for another year.
-
You mean when he was played in his natural position as a striker or left of a front 3 rather than an auxiliary left-back?
-
It'll be someone shit. I doubt our lot have even heard of Frank De Boer. If, and it's a big if, Pardew goes he'll be replaced with another yes man prepared to work for a low basic salary with performance-based incentives, no say over transfer targets and acceptance of our attitude toward cup competitions. We'll be shopping in the Brian McDermott, Nigel Adkins, Phil Brown department rather than the top up-and-coming european manager department.

Just got in and seen the inevitable result. Was Williamson playing by any chance?
-
Williamson's man, no real surprise
-
Williamson up against Welbeck and Sanchez is a recipe for disaster. Hoping for Dummett alongside Colo
-
Always rated Taylor and still do. It's no coincidence that we've been significantly more solid defensively since he came back in. Yes he is prone to bouts of complete stupidity but he's a decent defender and twice the player Williamson is.
-
At least we all seem to be doing shit. I'll struggle to break double figures at this rate

86 points. Bout time i had a decent week

FWIW I never suggested Ryan Taylor was anywhere near David Beckham's standard. I simple stated that it is possible to be a professional footballer while only really have one decent footballing attribute. David Beckham was a lot better than Ryan Taylor but without their right feet, both would be selling fruit and veg.
-
David Beckham became one of the world's most revered footballers because of his wand of a right foot. There was very little else to his game though - he wasn't particularly fast, tricky, good with his left, good in the air, strong in the tackle etc. Just goes to show, if you're one dimensional but your one dimension is brilliant you can be a successful professional footballer. We don't have another player in our squad who can do what Ryan Taylor can. Used correctly he could be a huge asset but I'd rather he was used as an impact sub than a starter.
-
That f***ing bloke man. How does he get to literally every away game, surely he cant have a job. Made the mistake of sitting next to that guy in Shearer's Bar after a game a few season's back. Wanted to kill myself shortly after
-
I've no doubt this guy is class. He's the Abeid of our strikeforce. Pardew will be forced to start him at some point due to injuries or a cup fixture, he'll do well (like Perez) and Pardew will claim he was waiting for the right time to introduce him and do the whole 'i'm a tactical genius' bit.

Just talking about manager of the month and there's Fat Sam's philosophy laid out in a nutshell, not dissimilar to our own dear leader. He's letting his mouth go after winning a few games. Again the similarity is uncanny. Does a very good job of making a positive sound like a negative in that quote. I'd far rather have a manager who works to a footballing philosophy and lets the opposition worry about them rather than a manager who's gameplan revolves around spoiling tactics, and I reckon 95% of football fans would agree. And what the fuck is he on about with the Fergie thing? What a load of shite! Fergie basically sent his teams out and told them to destroy the opposition, which they did routinely to Fat Sam's rabble.
-
Exactly! Your average non-nufc football fan could be forgiven to an extent but professional pundits, commentators and journailsts should research all aspects of the teams they're commenting on or writing about. Even if they don't do the actual research themselves, have some grunt do it for you and spoon feed you the facts. It's a good job they have a huge audience of gormless southern arseholes to suck up the shit they peddle on a daily basis
-
Who writes this shit?! Do some fucking research you shorcut-taking arseholes
-
Anita has been Pardewed, Tiote has been Pardewed, Abeid spent a year working under a manager/coach who wasn't Pardew and hasn't had time to be re-Pardewed yet. There's your difference.
