That's a horrible post for so many reasons pal
-
I think there has been a pretty marked change in the football we've been playing - we've been commiting more players forward and playing fewer long balls (probably due to the absence of Williamson more than anything else). You only have to look at the positions that Dummett and Janmaat found themselves in to see that the shackles had been released a bit. Doesn't make Pardew a tactical genius by any stretch - he's done what he should have done a year ago. It's taken the worst run in nufc history for him to make the obvious change.
-
people have got to stop saying this, he's done nothing more than his job in the last few weeks We,ve beaten Man City, Spurs (away) and Liverpool in the last 3 games. Regardless of how shit they all played we still had to beat them. Yes, he's just doing his job but given how shit he is at it, you should give him credit where it's due and it is due when you beat 3 teams of that quality in a row. Doesn't mean you have to change your overall view of him.
-
No surprise that Williamson out of the team and the more positive playing style has coincided with a decent run of form. We all knew what the problem was and yet it took our cowardly manager almost a year to take the shackles off. It's only a matter of time before he starts demanding 'shut up shop' performances again. My guess is after the next defeat. Credit where it's due i guess but we all know that luck more than good judgement has got us here and with Pardew there's always disappointment just around the corner. Nice to see us win again but i still can't enjoy it fully.
-
It's probably his pin number
-
He seeems to fit the 'big lad up front' mould but with mobility as well (from what i've read) which makes it even more surprising that Pardew won't play him. It's probably something as simple as he's shit at flick ons and back post headers or he doesn't speak English and is therefore un-Pardewable
-
He's 100% the kind of player Wenger likes to buy and buy early on in their career. I hate that we're talking about selling him already but we're owned by the world's biggest car boot salesman.
-
Keep this run going for another 20 games and I might stop referring to him as 'that useless cunt'.
-
We've got a good crop of young uns coming through and this guy is no doubt top of the pile. Problem is I don't think our manager and coaches have the first idea of what to do with them from here to take them to the next level. Correctly managed and coached, Aarons in particular could go on to be a very important and influencial player for us (in the same way Barkley has become at Everton under Martinez) but my fear is that he won't push on much under this lot and we'll end up selling him to a Championship club for £3m after a couple of seasons or loaning him out because he doesn't track back enough. Now, more than ever, I'd love for this set of shambolic cunts to prove me wrong.

The thinking about being most in danger of conceding when you have the ball is no doubt behind the direct approach. If you lose the ball in midfield you are more vulnerable to the opposition's attack. Decent managers reduce the risk by working on passing, midfield movement and ball retention but Pardew's take on risk aversion is to bypass the midfield entirely and just hoof the ball straight up to the strikers ie. as far away from our box as possible, as quickly as possible. There's some twisted logic in it but it's very simplistic, shit to watch and renders our talented midfielders completely redundant most of the time - they're literally there to act as a shield rather than a sword. It's also very easy to play against.
-
He's just a very limited manager with a very set way of playing football, which unfortunately requires a specific set of players. It all fell into place the season we finished 5th - we had enough big guys to hoof the ball up to, we had good full backs, midfielders making the right runs and we had a decent set piece taker. When he doesn't have the requisit players to suit his style he struggles because he has no plan B and no flexibity to change the system to suit the players he does have. That's why he's completely the wrong manager for Newcastle United - Under Ashley/Carr/Charnley he is handed players to work with and rather than looking at what he has and building a system to suit them, he just shoe-horns them into his very rigid system. When the manager doesn't have any control over the players coming into the club, he needs to be as adaptable as possible because there's a very good chance he won't have his midfield maestro or his big physical forward or even his vocal captain. The only way to make it work better is to give Pardew more say on transfer targets so he can mould the team to his style of play (God forbid) or replace him with someone who is more tactically astute and a lot more flexible.
-
Agreed. It's completely counter-productive having him on the pitch. We actually tried something different from a free kick in the first half yesterday - dinked ball to Colo down the right - it didn't come off but it was good to see the players trying something different. Probably got a bollocking from The King at half-time mind.
-
I genuinely believe that removing Williamson from the first team has been as big a contributing factor to the turnaround as anything else. The guy is so awful that it must have an impact on the confidence of the players. His constant hoofing of the ball, surrendering posession to our opponents, the awful set piece routine we use every time he's on the pitch, his complete inability to defend etc. The longer he is out of the first 11, the better chance we have of keeping this run going. Fist pumps is no Tony Adams but he's twice the player Williamson is.
-
Imagine having to stand there while Pardew imparts his football knowledge on you, one-on-one. It must take the will power of a saint not to laugh in his face.
-
Can't wait to see him playing in a defensive wide midfield role in the coming weeks. He's absolutely rife for a good Pardewing this kid. Either that or, having seen him bag a header, Pardew will have Willo banging long balls up to him so he can nod the ball on for the unplayable Obertan.
-
Could possibly be the worst we've looked all season. We've got absolutely nothing!
-
Why is credit due to Allardyce when you yourself are saying that the only reason they are playing better is because the board went over his head and brought in a coach to make them play more attacking football? Because he's an arrogant prick but he has agreed to change his (apparently world class) style of play. There's no doubt Allardyce knows how to make a team solid at the back but he's a dinosaur when it comes to attacking play. He seems to have accepted that the fans deserve to see something better. I thought he would have taken the hump and jumped ship at the mere suggestion his team should play better football.
-
Was told by his board that if he wanted to keep his job he'd have to start playing better, more attacking football. Brought in a coach to work specifically with the attacking players and the results are there for all to see. Key points: - Board listening to the fans and exerting some influence - Board backing the manager with decent funds to strengthen - Manager accepting a request to change his style rather than spitting his arrogant dummy out - Manager swallows his pride and brings in a coach to work on the area that he is weakest in The similarities between West Ham last season and us now are huge. The major difference is that none of those things would ever happen here. I hate Allardyce but credit where it's due.

Take a bow fella!
-
Eriksen's movement and energy will be far too much for Willo, Colo and Dummett to handle. He'll pull the strings, they'll hammer us 3-0 and Pardew will make some lame comment about how Eriksen reminds him of Cabaye and it shows how important that type of player is to a team.
-
Completely unfounded bollocks. I wasn't at the match so I couldn't see his full off the ball movement, but what I did see on the box was definitely nothing like a brilliant defensive shift. He stood around with his mouth gaping watching Nugent waltz past him and put in a glorious cross for Ulloa. David f***ing NUGENT! You do realise Gouffran is a striker don't you? Not a winger, not a central midfielder - a striker. This guy has been Pardewed more than any other member of our first team FFS! No wonder he's standing around not knowing what a defensive wide player should do, he isn't one.
-
I really want to want us to lose just to get rid of this parasite but i can't, not fully anyway. I know it's probably the same for many on here but some of you seem so genuinely gutted when we win, it makes me question my own commitment ☺. My worry is that if we do go down we'll still be stuck with these wankers and to be honest i'd rather be stuck witj them in the Premier League than the championship. We're just clinging on to blind hope that Ashley sees sense but i'm starting to believe it won't happen. He's Ashley's loyal little lapdog and as long as he doesn't bite him or shit in his car he's going nowhere
-
It was clear that his pace caused problems for Leicester throughout the game, especially on the break. Pace is something we've been sorely missing for a long time. Unfortunately 9 times out of 10 he did something daft like leave the ball behind, mis-control it or not release it quickly enough. Having said that, I'd be happy enough for him to stay in the first team if he keeps causing the opposition problems but I reckon he'll retreat back into his shell again once we play someone decent. Of course the ideal scenario would be for Pardew to get the boot and us to recruit a manager who can get our team of international players to play a decent brand of football so we don't need to have the likes of Obertan anywhere near the first team. Pipe dream.....
-
Any manager that doesn't instruct his team to have a go at us should be sacked. Our defence is so bad right now that we'd be sitting ducks for any team with an ounce of attacking talent. We also don't pose much threat on the break either so they might as well go for broke.
