  1. I don't think we're actually that far away from having quality and cover in most positions. It definitely feels like we're light and it has done for the last 6 months or so purely because we've consistently had at least 8 players out injured and we've had to cope. Some of the performances (individual and team) have been a bit sketchy but we're currently 6th with a nice run-in and that's despite having to rely a lot on the squad for ages.

If everyone was fit we could go Pope, Trippier, Tino, Schar, Botman, Bruno, Tonali, Joelinton, Gordon, Isak & Barnes with a bench of Dubravka, Burn, Willock, Miley, Anderson, Wilson, Lascelles, Hall, Murphy. That still leaves the likes of Longstaff, Almiron, Targett and Karius not even involved. We're not half as short as we think we are. Obviously we could get better but we're not too shabby when everyone is fit and available and there's no panic this summer. We all want to improve and that's natural but there's some serious talent at this club already - we'll be fine. The current injuries have distorted a lot of things for so long

It's the way it should be tbh.

We've been so badly run we end up having to pay people for years after they leave. never seem to have any bargaining power whatsoever because of the stupid deals we put people on.

    Exactly

Doesn't this go towards FFP though? I suggested in another thread you would spend heavily again in the summer, and other posters suggested you won't have much of a budget at all and that it will likely continue into subsequent windows.

There's being rich and ruthless and there's being stupid. I still think a deal will be done in and around the £10m mark once the summer window closes.

No idea as to FFP but I think so? It's income at the end of the day.

From what I gather the Saudis aren't keen on getting stung on deals and have more than enough cash to see him rot for the next couple of years rather than lose face. I think a compromise will eventually be reached but they'll not give in or bend for anyone. They'll have a price they're happy with and it'll either be met or it won't

  4. Honestly think the demand is there to fill 70k each game if the tickets are priced adequately. I also think that if the sweet-spot is 70k then you may as well build it up to 80k to future proof it should we be really successful, we're only going to (potentially) do this thing once in all of our lifetimes so why cap it at 70k?

All that said I'd still prefer the current location or as close as makes no difference. I'll just wait and see and keep my mind open to what's possible and what's not.

  5. I think the situation is the same as it was a month or so ago:

    1) They pay the money and he goes

    2) They refuse and he sits around doing nothing for another 18 months then he joins for nothing in 2026.

Appears we're making moves to replace him so it'll all be a bit moot soon enough. Maybe if they'd done things a little more privately and professionally then he'd already be there by now? All I know is that, as it stands, we currently value Ashworth more than they do and nothing will happen unless they equal our value of him. He's history up here regardless, good luck trying to slow-roll the richest and most ruthless cunts on the planet

  6. I think all we can do now is to just win as may points as we can from the last 6 games and see what it brings us. No worrying or fretting about things beyond our control just focus on us and take the rewards or consequences. 6th and EL? Champion, good for the profile and income. 7th and CL? No bother, good chance of a trophy and a little bit of glory. 7th and no Europe? Bit of a blow but fair enough but we can put all of our efforts into getting top 5 next season without the extra European fixtures.

Just need to roll with the punches and try and enjoy it regardless come what may :)

I think it's genuinely lovely that @midds has been referring to Liz Hurley as his dream woman on here for what must be over 20 years.

He's never wavered let the eye wander towards a Knightley, Kunis or de Armas.

In a throw-away society consumed with the pursuit of the new, he sets an example we can all learn something from, I feel.

She's a good woman. She deserves me tbh

If it wasn't for the restraining order...

How are PSG not breaching FFP rules? :serious:

    From wiki:

Al-Khelaïfi was honored by ESPN as the seventh most influential individual in the realm of world football in 2015. His influence was further solidified in May 2020 when a France Football ranking positioned him as the most influential personality in the sport.

    Draw your own conclusions :)

  9. Unless it's ridiculous money then his worth to us is far more than the £12m(?? or whatever) we'd get for him. Brilliant professional, still top notch RB and his experience on the park is intangible. He had a rough couple of months and was making some shocking mistakes in the Autumn but he seemed to play himself back into form. He's still fit as a fiddle and needs to be kept at most costs

  10. This is when I like Carragher. Just analysing footage and explaining systems. No bullshit, no gimmicks, no bantz - just pulling clips up to explain how teams got the results they did.

Wish he did more of this and less of his shite

  11. Completely glossed over all of the other times Palace carved them open and should have had another 2 or 3 too. Already rewriting history as just 'one of those days', ignoring all of the brilliant saves, blocks and defending. Liverpool simply didn't deserve to win that today, they weren't unlucky they were shit, it happens, even to that lot

  12. Falling behind regularly and pulling things back to win just isn't sustainable over such a long period of time, they were always going to regress to the mean at some point. They look like a team that has hit the wall, thumped in Europe on Thursday and now effectively out of the title race. They looked disheartened, they looked beaten, they looked resigned to their fate. It was majestic :)
