You've missed the point of the thread. I'm trying to find out why the supporters' view of the club isn't matched by the actions that our better players have taken in recent weeks. The majority on here are just waiting for Ashley to make his next cock-up, why aren't the players? No I havent' missed the point - over the past couple weeks the official view of the players has been 'Business as usual. Pardew's great. I love Ashley'. The real view though will come out over the next few months, with renewing those two players contracts being a potential flash-point where we will see if two of our better, more senior players share the official view or would rather get out while they can.

At the moment it's all nice and chummy but could get interesting in the coming months as we should be trying to secure the contracts of two of our better performers, Enrique and Barton, before they expire in summer 2012. We'll see how willing they are to commit thier futures to a club that is, being claimed in this thread, going in the right direction.

Not entirely true as he has scored a couple of great goals for us, but on the whole I'd have to say that he's one of the blokes I'd least like the ball to end up with in front of goal. It's like when we had Lee Clark and he had the nickname of Jigsaw. He looks like a startled rabbit when he gets into a scoring area and will either give an easy back-pass or goal kick, if he doesn't get tackled first through his indecision. For a winger his crossing is woeful. Yes, crossing the ball at pace is a difficult skill to master but is one that most wingers are capable of. Yes, he is playing on his weaker foot, but that is where he claims to play best. Playing wingers on the wrong side is an option where they have a) a strong 'weaker' foot and b) have a great shot and scoring record when cutting in from the wing, but neither are skills that he possesses.
