  1. None of the 22 who started were worse than Shola. I could say Nicky Butt came close but that's opening up a whole new can of worms.....
  2. This shouldn't even have to be pointed out. Are people really this stupid? Of course you could point out the structure/appointments are down to him though. Doesn't matter though - Ashley saved us from the Sheppard / Hall evil so is untouchable in some people's eyes. Plus I deride his drinking abilities - I was drinking from 3:30 to 12:00 and am still here. Where is he the big girl? Neck one pint and that's it you lightweight (metaphorically speaking of course).
  3. For me it is a cummulative thing - he has shown no aptitude for the profession that he has chosen for a long time and in any other walk of life would have been shown the door a long time ago. Why should overpaid footballers be able to get away with it? Sack him.
  4. But he can neck a pint. That's got to be worth something . He's got two days left in his third transfer window - two of which cannot be described as a great success- so after todays abbaration we should see plenty of activity. i hope so Dear God so do I.

  6. why? It was quality, he was just doing what everyone else would do, he didn't know the cameras where on him.... Or doing it because he knows that the cameras are constantly on him in any football ground (as they were from the first minute today) because it would make him look like 'one of the lads'. Some of you are incredibly cynical, and happy to attack the man for anything and everything, even if it's enjoyable things that you probably do yourself at the match. Why do you care so much about what is the percieved norm, about what is typical and about what other people in his position do? Why should he sit in the director's box, wearing a suit, separated from the fans just because pathetically sensitive fans like yourself don't like him doing what he wants which he is perfectly entitled to do after putting so much money into the club? Right then, the bloke knows that he is constantly being watched by the tv cameras, as soon as he sits in the stand at any ground. He has somehow managed to get a pint into the seating area just before the second half just before half time, and then does something completely fuckwitted and necks it. Nothing to be sensitive about and I never drink at the games as I prefer to drink beer before you generalise me with this glory hunting 'recluse'.

  8. Given- 8 Wasn't great for the third but kept it down to single figures where others wouldn't have given a shit Beye- 2 Carried on from his previous matches this season. Has he been replaced by the evil Beye. Enrique- 3 Poor positional play before he manged to get 'injured' Collocini-6 pick of the defence Taylor - 5 second pick of the defence. We're f*cked. Butt- 1 turned up and put the right shirt on. Should be ashamed that he is claiming his wages as a 'professional' footballer. Jogged around a bit behind whoever had the ball at the time. Guthrie- 6- Should have joined a good team. Jonas-6- See Guthrie NZogbia- 3 Well done lad, found the bloke in the same shirt as you on a couple of occaisions Owen-7 Dropped deep to at least see what the ball looked like. Shola- Do not get me started on this c*nt. The epitomy of everything that is wrong with football.
  9. Ameobi needs to be taken aside tomorrow and fired - not given a transfer or dropped. FIRED for being incapable for the professional role that he is employed for. He is giving the 'profession' of footballer a bad name for fucks sake and that is actually a skill in itself.
  10. And that ended in a creditable 2-2 draw. Would you say we looked comfortable for the majority of the game? More comfortable than we have for a long time? Looked more comfortable against Reading and the Mackems in a Derby last season to be fair - didn't look like conceding in either match but looked decidedly dodgy in places on Tuesday night.
  11. The quality of the squad has improved, that is more important because we've got kids who are a year older than this time last year and a year more experienced. We've got to give kids a chance or they will never improve so we can't block them by bringing in mature players who aren't good enough and only get games because of injuries. We still lack a bit of quality in midfield and are thin up front because two of our best 3 forwards are suspect when it comes to missing games due to injury but we're not short of numbers. I'm agreeing with you - unfortunately the kids have not proved that they have any of the skills required to survive at this level - Lua Lua has not appeared when called on and if I recall correcly Carroll didn't manage to put the ball in the net last year in the lower leagues on loan. They cannot be relied upon when squeaky bum time comes. The good news is that Viduka's contract is coming up so he will no doubt go six months or so uninjured and knock in a few goals on the way.
  12. We're just getting pissed up on Monday night to forget our woes and fears. or the foes and wears That's at 1 a.m. Weh Hey! By then it won't be painful until Tuesday morning and that's ages away.

  14. Gone are Emre, Carr, Ramage, Diatta and Faye so far, we've brought in Coloccini, Gutierrez, Bassong and Guthrie. I would say we have brought in more than we've lost when looking at the quality of those who have been brought in and how much those leaving would have played. Yep - barring Faye the numbers going out so far had very little, if no, impact on the first team last year. It's just that the sqaud was painfully thin last year an still needed building up this summer.
  15. Shhhh.... Shut up you might sour the deal. He means that he's the bestest player in the leage and is worth at least 30 million or so. With add ons based on appearances. And international caps.
  16. We had a better start last year, with a first win away against the difficult side in years and had a 'great season'. Reading started with a point against Manure last year and it did them well. Can't remember off the top of me head how we did in the League Cup second round last year but seem to recall getting anally raped by The Arse Reserves in the next round.
  17. That's not stupidity, it verging on insanity. Come on Mike, take the cash to even out your over-spending on the squad this summer.
  18. The WOW signing is going to be on Monday at 23:58 with everyone on her saying 'WOW we actually signed someone that Willie Mackaye has pushed on us' - we've been take for another ride for our cash and this year is another write off.
  19. no easy answer to that is there? and 10m guarantees nothing as you're fond of pointing out, BUT let's try this: "wherever there is a gaping hole in the team & squad a club the size of NUFC should be doing everything in their power to fill that gap with a quality player regardless (within reason) of cost" how does that do you dave? so for us this season i'd say we needed: CB - check CM - nope FW - nope don't think 3 top quality players is a big ask myself, nor did you at the start of the summer Exactly - The bare minimum transfer requirements for this club have not been met and do not look likely to be met either, even though they have had six months to get thier ideads together and two months to get the players in. The surface of this squad has been scratched two matches into the season and what did we get - a line up against Coventry with no recognised strikers starting the match and a bunch of kids on the bench. If the shit really had hit the fan on Tuesday night who would we have turned to (Nile Ranger comments will be severely punished ).
  20. Took a kick to the knee last Saturday - last we'll see of him until December.
  21. Get in! Just wonder where this profit will end up going though. In his pocket, on the squad or on the balance sheet to make the club look more of an attractive prospect to others. On the squad and on the balance sheet pretty much equate to the same thing dontcha think? Anyway, I haven't got the figures in fornt of me, but any reported profit will be BEFORE any sales and purchases of players. So say we made a profit of £10m and spent net £11m (as I say I aint got the figures here) then we have reinvested all and more of the revenue during the year Nah, 6 million in the bank would look a hell of a better prospect than say 6 million on Alan Smith on the 'assets list' to anyone who knows anything about football. Don't think that there is going to be much taken out of this years budget for transfers in either.
