And that is his plan A this game.

Its more so the way Howe approaches games, and abundance of loyalty to out of form players. And of course that god forsaken midfield pocket that has been open since he took over. We are letting in soft goals left right and center, fair enough some freak injuries has been ruining the season, but he is so fucking stubborn to change, its like we have plan A and that's it. If plan A fails, then the whole damn house of cards blow over. And the "we played really well" after Chelsea match was like an insult.
He changed the fucking formation for this game ffs. -

0.71xG (majority of that after 2-0 down) isn’t bad against Man City and we had one good chance and some promising attacks ourselves too. No idea how someone can criticise Howe for this.
Willock closes down Silva properly and Botman keeps his head away from the ball and it’s 0-0.

Just letting players shoot on their strong foot and only looking at them is just pathetic. And that is down to instructions, unless both players are so shit scared that they are not going out to pressure - But then they have fuck all to do on the pitch if that is the case.
Hilarious stuff from you. -

Howe masterclass coming in strong yet again
Go away. -
Willock gave him way too much space to just walk in to the box, wrongly positioned.

Pretty sure he played the majority of his carreer at CB before Newcastle? Sometimes at LB with Brighton, but mostly CB there aswell from what I remember.

Leverkusen through.

No idea how Thuram wasn’t sent off in the age of VAR.

He wouldn’t even play if he went with the team. Would be great for him and his confidence but couldn’t be a worse time in terms of him needing a rest
Yeah, I would be happy if he gets chosen as a reward for his form over the season. He’s not going to play 2 full 90 minutes in any case and there wouldn’t really be that much more strain put on his body compared to if he stays with our group. Just the mental boost he would gain would IMO make it worth it. -

Some players seemingly always avoid injury. I had semi pegged Gordon in that bracket.
saka and Fernandes never seem to get tired or injured for example. Even Messi and Ronaldo never seemed to get injured as often as you might expect.
Edit: Ronaldo has 16 seasons playing 40+ games a season. 15+ 30 league appearance seasons in Europe.
It’s definitely genetic, some people just don’t get injured no matter how much load they put on their bodies. We are lucky that some of our most important players like Bruno, Gordon and Schär seem to be like that. I know Bruno had ankle problems but that was just bad luck. -
Think Pope saves the first two goals. First one Dubs is ridiculously slow to get down and on second one he's guessing far corner for some reason.

Because keeping with a manager who has won 3 away games all season and has had a -11.1xg form in the last 10 games really is the way to go, isn't it?
It's way better than hiring fucking Jose Mourinho in 2024.

Not tonight but in the near future imo. Get Michel or Mourinho in.
Nee way.

Embarrassing yet again. Howe has taken us as far as he can imo.

Not good enough. The worst thing about it for me is that aside from Gusto and Palmer, they were and are absolutely shite. I can't put it down to injuries and fatigue here, we just weren't good enough and didn't compete where it mattered against a team I consider a soft touch.
We've thrashed better teams who've put in 10x the performance and quality that Chelsea put in tonight. I know football is not that simple but it stuck in my mind and felt relevant tonight.
A couple of really standout abject performances for me. I'm sure it's a bit of a knee-jerk but I'm sick of Longstaff now. He grafts his arse off and covers well but he's been woeful on the ball for a while now. Dubravka has been in good form but had one of those Dubravka performances where some of the conceded goals just don't look right.
Dubravka: 3
Livramento: 7
Schär: 5
Botman: 4
Burn: 5.5
Longstaff: 3
Bruno: 5
Willock: 6.5
Almiron: 4
Isak: 7
Gordon: 4 Murphy: 7
Decent ratings but 6.5 to Willock seems really generous compared to the others.

They told you that at RTG? -

This proves my point
The physio won't know what's wrong with it by just looking at it ffs.

RTG talking about our goal and Chelsea defending - “that was absolutely terrible- I’d be embarrassed if our team did that”. This is from the team that let Southampton score 4 past them at the weekend.
Why are you in RTG during our match ffs?

How is he supposed to time a flick from Jackson?
Flick makes it easier to him and he was nowhere near it.

Shame I'll miss this but will be in Newcastle between 28th of March and 3rd of April. Would be interested in any meet up as I'm coming alone once again and don't have really any plans outside the West Ham and Everton matches..
