Not sure about Butt, otherwise, the right team I think. Hopefully Guthrie is okay to come on and replace the backward Butt in the second half.

Any rumours on team / formation yet?

Is the game on the radio??

Alan Shearer believes Jonás Gutiérrez can be vital difference
Dan Gleebals replied to Thespence's topic in Football
TBF to Jonas he has spent most of the season in the wrong half due to our tactics and general weakness in midfield. Shearer is right, playing him higher up will give to opposition more to think about. We are also likely to get more freekicks around the area with him cutting in. -
Anyone think Shearer might inspire our current no.9 into his early toon antics of scoring some absolute stunners?

Cech, Hilario, Taylor, Belletti, Alex, Ivanovic, Terry, Mancienne, A Cole, Lampard, Ballack, Deco, Obi, Kalou, Essien, Malouda, Di Santo, Anelka, Quaresma, Stoch. Still enough in there to five us problems!!! Still think we will do well however

Great Players Don't Necessarily Make Good Managers
Dan Gleebals replied to Crumpy Gunt's topic in Football
The fact he has still be watching games left right and centre each week, he will be in the know alot more that JFK would ever have been. In his case, I think he has the right personality and experience to do very well. -
the return of 52,000 scalfs this saturday?

I would be prepared to bet that Nile gets his first team chance now before the season is done.
-
unbelieveable, really is. Just what we needed, someone to come in and get things shaken up with 8 massive games to go. If he does well, there is no chance Kinnear will return as manager. When the club see what this will do for the fans, they will not be in a position to do anything other than keep Shearer on. The bloke has big bollocks, thats for sure. It is win win for him as well - stay up and he will be an even bigger hero. Go down, a hero none the less for trying a job no one else would take on. I think out of respect to Kinnear, they will not be making noises about anything longer term until the season is done. Win or lose on Saturday, it is going to be one hell of an atmoshere, not seen at SJP for a VERY long time. It will be bigger than the Keegan effect IMO, MUCH MUCH bigger. If that does not lift this bunch of players to a level they can keep us in this league, nothing will.

NUFC Permanent Manager 09/10 if Kinnear decides to leave
Dan Gleebals replied to a topic in Football
Fuck me, sentiments on here have changed alot over the years. People were threatening to rip up season tickets at the prospect of bafpuss coming on board "plastic geordie" etc etc - now he is the saviour in waiting.. All the top European managers - forget it. Fact is, even if Kinnear was 6ft under Ashley would still keep him on as manager "cos they like him". The Stig of top gear for me, at least no one would know who he was, just what we need IMO.... That was a joke, like this thread really as I have no faith in a post Kinnear appointment what so ever. -
Force shearer out of retirement for end of season
Dan Gleebals replied to tgarve's topic in Football
While ya there give Lee, Tino, Albert, Speed, Batty, Ginola, Ferdidnand et al a call and we will finish in the top 4 and win the quadruple next year.. -
Could be one of the best finals in a number of years if it works out. However, i'd fancy Liverpool to knock Barca out. Barca are a great side but they have proved they are dodgy at the back and Liverpool would exploit that. From a neutral perspective I would like to see it.. Although I would not like to see Manure win it again... unless it involves a penalty miss from Terry of course against Chelsea - that would be priceless!!
-
Thats at least 5 years before they win the league then
-
It could just as easily be one. Who knows in this comp, although very unlikely

Manu / Barca final?

Mike Ashley has confirmed today that in the event we go down, all the players and staff will be rewarded with new, improved contracts.
-
Either way he will get a three year contract. Staying up is essential, we can oust him after that. If we stay up he will be considered a hero by our incompetent board. That is just how far we have fallen.
