He is right, a club going in the right direction can attract players.. We are sadly not though at the moment. On Henry, looking at Arsenal this season they are playing better without him. I don't think we need that kind of personality whether it is a reality or not.

Isn't it about time we had an argument about THE BOARD?!?!?!?!?!

Lets face it, we are not in any competitions now, it is also unlikely we can claim a European spot either. Put all that together for one and its no suprise no one came in, especially with two weeks to go. What is the point of signing people for the sake of signing them just to keep the fans happy? We have enough class in our squad, to get us through to the end of the season now. Keegan, providing he can get some results on the board fast, will then, along with the team and club be playing for pride. I personally think we have done the right thing. Spend a few months assessing things and then splash the big money in the summer. Panic buys and trophy buys are Freddy Sheppard through and through, thankfully those days have gone. -

Lets hope these players really do have potential and we are not jumping on the band wagon for sake of it. Otherwise, what is the point of putting all the local grown talent off giving it ago if we are just buying in people of a similar standard anyway. That would be counter productive. Still I would imagine its a numbers game 1 in 3/4 will probably make it and as high as 1/10 or more will be absolutely class?? Fingers crossed and I guess we will only know in 2/3/4 seasons anyway. -
Touch one to call. This is really Keegans first proper home game. I do not think you can say after 2 days v's Bolton he had enough time. I know he has only been here two weeks but the players seem to be saying the right things since Keegan got here. A good atmosphere and some good all round performances should see us win this - I hope. We have a seriously depleated squad and the confidence is certianly low. Hopefully the fans will get right behind the team and we can then kick on from there. There are still plenty of points and places to play for so we should not be throwing in the towel just yet.

Willie McKay making mischief on SSN. Spurs deny interest in Zog.

BIG if the board was to sanction this, I think KK would leave in record time!!!!!!!!! You cannot in our current stage sell one of your best players without someone as good or better lined up. That aint going to happen if recent comments from KK are to be believed. Panic not people. -
Agree with Dev. The likes of Smith have had their chance and done fook all with it. At the same time we must keep an eye on whats going on beneth us!!!!!
-
We have more chance of winning the league than Smith scoring.

On 5M a year he could buy a fookin french school. On a serious note, the papers are loving this, stop lining their two faced pockets and wait for an announcement. If it was Deschamps, I would not be too disappointed. He would certinaly need more than 24 games however. Would the fans give him this? Not so sure. We would expect a 7-0 win against Bolton.

Can we cure the impatience and unrealistic expectations?

New owners, not their manager, shit performances - no suprise really. He brought it on himself with negative, clueless football. He was scared to give it a go and I do blame the fans for that. You cannot blame the board however. Asley has spent shit loads on our club and he wants to see steps foward and not a load of disgruntled and unhappy fans. He has, uinlike our last chairman, spent time with the fans and I am sure he has taken on the views that he has heard. Above all, timing was not great in the whole transfer of ownership and for these reasons I think it might have been why Sam always appeared on the back foot. We are in the shit now IMO. Who the fook would want to manage our club given our reputation. Only a big step up in quality of the manager will do and only to someone who is going to keep the fans happy with entertaining football as this is afterall, what most of us seem to consider acceptable (despite winning fook all). The winning combination it seems is to have a manager that will play good football yet be good enough to one, build a club up and two, achieve success in a short space of time. Otherwise, they will be the 12th manager in quick succession. This trend has to end and now. The next appointment is so crucial its not funny. On that basis I am worried. Yes we have a loaded owner and a commercial chairman, but they are not football people. Lets hope for everyone concerned they do something right and get the right person in. -
It fookin better be because right now we are a fookin joke and that goes from the top the the fans.

Newcastle United 1 - 1 Arsenal - 05/12/07 - Post match reaction from page 19

Can't be arsed to read all of this but very well done to the players - great performance. Of more significance, the best performance goes to the fans. What a difference a good atmoshere has made. A repeat of that week in week out would soon have the place rocking again. The players and the fans owe it to each other to give it there all.. -
Our form has to change some time soon and after the shite of the last few weeks, I can see this game being just the game we suprise a few people. Hoping so anyway. If nothing else, it would be good for the fans to get behind the team and all give it a fookin good go. 5-0.

Zola still looks class.

Not sure this would be a good idea. Only think he is interested as no one else has come in. Sure he said a few months ago that he would only manage Portugal as a national team and that would not be for a few years yet!!!!!!!! I think we should jack the national team - it will take a miracle worker to sort out the shite we are. I would rather that person came to the toon to be honest!!!!!!!!!
-
Putting the fans opinions of sam aside, I think alot will depend on: - How good his relationship is with Mort and Co - How we are doing at the time - i.e. improving from here I personally think Jan is a bad time to buy and that you should only buy if - Injuries force you to - A player you really need is available at a price that is not over inflated as it is January Not many clubs wish to sell at this time of year so it pushes the price up. I would only really go for people that are in the last year of their contract with a view to them coming in Jan or in the summer.

Benny Benitez: Parky 6 Benny 2 (Benitez watch.). Inter sack the waiter.

They are third and conceded 2 away from home so far this season. Hardly a cock up is it. -
You can blame the managers and rightly so. But what about the 11 over paid, prideless tw@ts that pulled the shirts on for much of the campaign. You can blame the manager for making 'tactical' or 'system' fook ups - but you cannot blame them for the s**** we saw last night and for other games in the qualifiers. The blame IMO falls completely with the 100k a week w@ankers that give it loads of verbals and think they deserve to win something by virtue of who they are. Simple fact, as a team we are nothing. EDIT: Wrong thread. On Bilic, for a team that had qualified he looked far the better man manager last night. Fair play to him. As others have said, clubs will be queing up for that kind of passion (and achievement)...

Jose also said he would never manage any other international team other than his home country. I think it would be an obbious move for the FA to want to at least speak to Sam. I for one think he would stay however.
