For what its worth, I think we are completely done for. The bounce of coming back up year made a big difference, we had good spirit and key players largely stayed fit and played to and above their potential. Key players this season have had injuries and poor form and look nothing like they did last season. Total lack of investment is showing and the players and manager know it. Rafa, aside his professional and personal commitment to the club has taken this lot as far as he can. He knows he is leaving, as do the players. He also knows no one is coming in during this window (IMO). Combine all this and its really going to be a long and sad farewell to one of the true hopes we have had as a club to move forwards. Its too little to late even if they do spend - they have proven to Rafa they have no ambition and for a manager who aims much higher, that is simply not enough. He has had enough and sadly, his tactics and general outlook reflect this.

Those loans mean nothing in terms of selling. Actually it's better for him have those loans than use clubs money to pay them back for tax purposes. They are interest free (apparently) so not sure how he will have any personal tax implications as he has made no gains - its his money. Loan repayments are not operating costs hence, they have no impact on company tax so again see no reason for the club not to repay before being sold - one less liability to factor into a deal??

However, given the price now being quoted, it would not surprise me if Ashley has now taken his loans (or most of them) out of the club which might explain the serious lack of spending, especially this season and the profits made. If he has, that certainly puts us in a more likely position to be sold. One can only hope!

Keep this form going (aside Liverpool game) and get another c.12 points between now and beginning of Jan and I would feel pretty comfortable. Jan will be a back to reality. Then only 4 of the current top 6 to play between Feb and May, another reasonable finish is possible. Jan will be a clear indication of our intent with Rafa. He needs to be backed if there is any change of him staying IMO, even if we are looking in reasonably good shape.

World class manager, maybe. Just not here IMO. Great bloke, gets the club, city and fans. However, his football does not get the fans, city or club. Any other manager, we would be all over them. For these reasons, s no reason to keep him. We are looking worse by the week, not better. He should be doing better. Time to move on.
