  1. Cannot believe he does not have a signing day in the toon, I would have been there for sure.
  2. Agree, think the 3 game ban and a few words from management will have sorted his head out. He has his maiden SJP goal now and all is looking good for him so I don't see any reason why he would want to risk that - he is first choice now. A goal or three on Sunday would be nice! Just hope they don't go out of their way to wind him up!!
  3. No thanks. Keep him at least 2 years longer to see what he can do. If he does really well then we are talking 30M plus. Wank material for the club (not me). Actually think he will want to stay anyway if we start improving, for the time being anyway. He seems settled here.
  4. So he has admitted to pulling out of 50/50's against Norwich so he did not miss this game. Says it all.
  5. Does not make any sense why they would not have spent it in the summer then really - same financial year (profit being key to these idiots). Jan is harder to spend in and prices are too high (for our lot anyway). So this all points to a spending spree on players who will be available for free next summer who we can pick up cheep and not players that will actually improve our squad/need. If they actually spent that on what we need the fair enough but the targets were probably already agreed way before SM even came in the summer.
  6. Will be hard to win this as Alardarse will set them up deep and will chuck loads of long balls/wide balls into the box - both of which will exploit us massively. We need to offer more protection against balls coming into the box, its been too easy so far this season - I cannot work out why that't not being addressed. Then again, with Colback and Tiote as a central pair, its hardly surprising. IF they give us any space, I think we will win this, if not, it will no doubt be a mistake or two that cost us any points. Personally, I would like us to step up a bit and really push in the opening stages and get a goal or two - then keep that pressure on and not sink further and further back as per usual.
  7. Tripped over himself running with no one around him! If the others perform as they did yesterday, surely even McClaren will see he is stand out shit.
  8. Definitely better going forwards. However, defence is still shocking, although I think they were let down by lack of tracking back by those in front. That's said we really need another imposing full back, a proper left back and a more vocal keeper with a presence about him. Replace coldsack, tiote and Anita and we would be so much stronger. If these positions are looking to be addressed in Jan then fair enough but they won't.
  9. We will start ok for the first 12-20 mins and they score against the run of play. Utter shite from there on in.
  10. Alnwick made my eyes bleed. I cannot believe how shite he was. Felt absolutely sorry for the lad - he should have been NOWHERE near a premiership first team! You can blame our shower of a management structure for that, not him.
  11. In a word NO. Not sure relegation will change anything at all, in fact it will get worse. Our core of players will simply leave - if they have no desire to perform at this level, what are they going to be like in the Championship? Even worse. We will get stuck in the league and struggle to come back up. Ok, that might motivate Ashley to go but IMO, it might take as season or two and a alot more to get back to where we are now. I agree that until Ashley goes, we are in for much of the same. £50M spent in the summer proves nothing and signing another mid table (at very best) coach, is a firm statement to me that he wishes to maintain premiership status and not a lot more. Our average league finish under Ashley (championship season and season we finished 5th aside) is almost 14th - year on year. That says is all about his motivations. Thing is, 8 years of this is finally coming home to roost - our squad is shocking as is the muppet "coaching" them. Cannot fathom people wanting us to go down, but get the sentiment/reasoning behind it. We are likely to go down anyway this season IMO, so those that voted yes will get their wish. I am not sure the rest of their wishes will be realised as quickly though, it could be a very long and painful climb back to the where we are now, never mind consistently finishing in the top 10. Then again, nothing can be as painful as it is now - the club has lost just about everything good it had going for it.
  12. Based on the first 8 games of the season, we are without doubt going down. For me, unless McClaren gets at least 7 points from the next 3 games, he has to go. He then has to get at least 4 points, if not 6 in November to keep his job in December. A good december (he stays and rebuilds) - otherwise, a new manager would ideally come in in December to have a look at whats needed in Jan! As a minimum that would leave us on 14 points from 14 games which is still far to much like relegation form - however, I think that points total as a minimum would have us in the bottom 6 but not in the bottom 3.
  13. One of my favourite managers in world football - he will do really well there, unfortunately. Can't help but think a massive offer from us in the summer might well have been considered! He seems like that kind of person.
  14. "The first time I sat down with Steve, I knew he was the right man for the job" Fuck off covering your shit up, you appointed him.
  15. Alan. Sideways, frontfoot, organized - special silver Fox.
  16. To be fair you would not be able to see my watch.
  17. No way - he not seen the size of our squad! I think the only reason he is not playing Aarons is because he is under big pressure and will not player "youngsters" with no first team experience. I personally think Aarons, despite the odd mistake here and there, could add a huge amount of pace and directness to a desperately immobile front 4.
  18. sack race between him and Rogers, at the moment McClaren just winning... That said, he will walk soon imo.
  19. I was thinking of players we have directly taken from France as opposed to from UK teams but agree.
  20. I agree. 2 very good players (Debuchy, Cabaye), 1 really good player if he can be arsed (Sissoko), 1 the manager could not get the best out of (HBA) - the rest have been shite at best IMO. Edit - to early to say with Thauvin but my money is he will do ok but nothing outstanding.
  21. To be fair his philosophy at the outset - keep it tight, keep and move the ball, work from the back are fundamentally speaking ok. However, we have a woeful defence (aside Mbemba and Janmaat) so this is a floored approach. He has realised this and is over compensating with two DM's, who are both woefully shite in those roles too. So by my calculations 36% of his back 6 are no where near good enough. That puts pressure on the rest of the team to sit deeper etc. No point even commenting on the strikers. OK, service has been poor but see above. We all knew a new CB, LB were absolutely essential and somehow the club have failed to see that time and time again. He should be getting a lot more from what he has got but that said, relying on Colo, Williamson, Haidara, permacrock et al was always going to be a loosing bet.
