Felt sorry for him, so out of his depth it was unbelievable. Not his fault our incompetent management/board did not bring in better replacements/rely on unproven players.

Have to agree, timing is weird though - could have done this in Jan if he was having a blinder. Who knows what goes on behind the scenes - he must come across very well around the training ground, be well liked by the players etc as his "captain" qualities rarely shine through on the pitch.

Prepared to see if it is an awful decision or not.

John Terry is 34 and showing no signs of slowing down! If anything he was probably better than ever last season. NOT saying Colo is in his league at all, the similarities stop there. However, you never know under McClaren, he might play a lot better this season. Personally can see him doing very well alongside Mbemba. As long as Williamson is 5th choice behind Dummett and Taylor (in that order) I don't really care. Given their prudent financial stance, I am sure the deal is more aligned to pay and playn anyway so no issues from my perspective if this is the case.

Be interesting to see how he and other youngsters are managed compared to the last shower.

Not sure about that, although time will tell. Wijnaldum and De Jong were both club captains, I also think Mitrovic will have the same effect as a leader given his determination/lack of fear and Mbemba seems to have the right qualities not to accept the shite that has gone on before, hence will probably add to what Janmaat does at the back. Definitely stronger then last season but as I say, time will tell.

As a Spaniard you have nothing to worry about, irrespective of Pardew or not

That call in - at least he absolutely recognises our defence was simply not good enough last season - "you don't win anything with a bad defence". Not going to change it over night but sounds like this will be a big area of focus this season, both for the team and individuals. Good news.

We think that but every single Premier League team scouts their opposition and if they don't know who is going to play it causes issues in reality. We didn't bother with Pardew or Carver as neither of them knew tactics/formation if it smacked them in the face. Same team, save negative football whoever we played against.

No issues with Cisse starting for me and brining Mitrovic on to shake things up (literally) later in the match. In a way be a nicer introduction for him, bring him on with 30 mins to go to a standing ovation - pops up with the winner. Everyone goes home happy.

Has his visa come though yet? Guessing so as not sure he can be here whilst it is being processed - thought he had to be out of the country whilst applying/application goes through.

No way will we get either unless Cisse goes. In any event I would rather see the money spent on width/creativity and the defence. Another striker is about 4th of the list in terms of what we need at the moment.

I agree, no one is likely to come in for Williamson, Colo or Taylor given their respective ages, injury concerns and poor form over the last few seasons and being in the last season of their contracts. I suspect, none of them will be offered a new contract and we will add another 2 CB's and left back then. We will have too. If Mbemba can integrate quickly, I think he will make enough of a difference to allow us a mid table finish - 8th (or better) will not happen until further quality is added to the back 4.

Why are the others not playing today then? Mitrovic short of fitness, fair enough. Mbemba - who knows. No reason for Aarons, Perez and De Jong not playing although they all did midweek - that the reason? No idea, i just can't see a scenario where De Jong doesn't start. Or the others bar Mitrovic and Mbemba.

This! Shouldn't have too high expectations though. Probably not 100% fit and in a totally new team against a very good side.

Personally think Colo could really benefit from him. Someone with pace next to him should free him up a little.
