On a totally different planet compared to Pardew et al! He really is. Lets hope his attitude so rubs off on to the players and that his preferred approach actually translates into a better organised, more enjoyable team to watch! I am realistic about how long this might take and clearly it is very important we get more players in to but so far feeling reasonably positive about McLaren.

Thing is, unless you're Barca or Real Madrid then you're always liable to having your best players taken from you. I have no real issue with that. It's the fact that we've never re-invested the funds received that has always been the issue. This. As long as the overall balance of the sqaud/quality of the squad stays consistent and improves with the new players, I have no issue with players going. Unless we break into the top 4, decent players (mainly coming for outside the UK) coming to us and doing well will inevitably get attention from bigger clubs, if we profit from that great - as long as it goes back into the team!! Just look at Southampton as a blue print - they have proved (albeit for only 1 season) that you can loose 2 or 3 quality players if you quickly replace them and have a decent manager in place that is able to adapt quickly. Be interesting to see if they can replicate that this season however as the core of what was a pretty decent team is almost entirely gone now!

It will all depend on if/who we get in at the back IMO. Bring in or try and get a really solid CB partnership going and I think he might go something like Striker Rolando/Perez De Jong Cabella Sissoko Wijnaldum Otherwise he will have to find space for Tiote/Colback

Totally insane money for Sterling. Even more so than the £35 we robbed off them for Carroll. Just no way is he worth that at all. Can see him going there and being shit. The fee and wages will go to his already "fragile" state of mind IMO.

I personally think McClaren seems to get the club way more already than pardew ever did, I think his time at Boro will have helped that. He knows what the fans want to see and whilst it won't happen over night I think our football will reflect the stands pretty well. This is a big gig for him and probably the last. I think he might just get it right.

Janmaat all day long, even more so with the ever increasing dutch contingent! As good as Siem or Georginio might be as well Janmaat deserves it IMO. Colo has been in decline for sometime now and could leave at the end of the season - time to think for the future. He might even play better with no armband on!

Signing Mitrovic seems more exciting that Austin and definitely represents better value IMO. Agree, would be well up for offering 2-3 players plus some cash although they have already signed a few.

This chap will thrive on balls into the box - we will need width and decent delivery to get the best out of him IMO.

Good question - we will be better than least season purely as I think our coaching set up is so much better. Keep players fit and we will do ok. Add a striker, another wide player and cb and we will be top 10. To break top 8 another 3 on top for debth - cb, lb and better holding player.

Hardly played in 18 months, lost his national place - hardly a top target for "big clubs" material really. Was great whilst here but burnt his bridges IMO so could not care if he plays for rubber lips on anyone else for that matter. That said, be interesting to see his stance in a years time when he has been playing in a team on a 7 game loosing streak running up to the Euro's Fingers crossed!
