On way to deal with it could be that once 5 yellows are hit, the FA or whicheven governing body, uses a system to generate a random number between 1 and 5. Which ever number is selected could stipulate which game after the incident occurs is the game in which the player has a one match ban. Same could be applied for 2 yellows (red). Straight red is an immediate suspension.

Given was completely gone. Can't imagine what it was like for the likes of him, Williams, Allen etc yesterday. Never have they, or will they again, I doubt, care so little about the result of a match they're playing in. None of this weekends results are important in my mind after this news, even our great result at Man United. A minutes silence, a minutes applause and 90 minutes of chanting would not be enough at the weekend. Hopefully we put in a performance he would have been proud of and dedicate the result to him.

For those living further south, the toon games are always on in the Blue Lagoon in Hove (near Brighton) and a fair few of us go to watch the game.

The majority of fans do not expect a result from this, although I am sure the players do. In my mind, we do not need to fear them and go and enjoy it - the pressure is off us. With the players we have out it is a chance to shine and there is no better place to do it right now. Actually think we might get a draw. Bring it on.

Never good getting any injuries, especially with the squad size we have. More to the point, he has been improving. Marvaux has a great chance to take his place however and that can only be a good thing.

Neither has Tiote No he has'nt. However, he got injured (not his fault) and his replacement has done a very good job. If Pardew is going to be consistent with his management, then Guthrie should start. In the same way we all know RTaylor is inferior to Santon, he is playing because he does not deserve to be dropped. We should be saying thanks for everything and saying goodbye on this one. No way should he be offered an extension, much like we should not have offered shola one. Time to move on and bring in better players.

Personally dont see why Tiote should go straight back into the side. That is what competition is all about. Guthrie has done nothing to deserve being dropped what so ever, he should keep his place and his confidence will get even better.

I reckon a big crowd for this one and atmosphere to go with it. We should definately be winning these games and think we will. My only critisism of Pardew last night was bringing Perch on, he should not be anywhere near the side, let along on the bench for the three games after Everton. To try and get some kind of game into Marvaux, Santon and Ben Arfa against Everton would be a very good idea IMO. Not saying they should start but 30-45minutes would not be a bad idea.

Would not say it was any more grim than areas that surround gounds like Anfield, Goodison, Maine Road (of old) for example. Loads of current and older top flight grounds are in shitty areas. Re the game, only a few changes for me - Marvaux, HBA and Santon to start. Pardew cannot say in the one hand he wants to win a tropy and on the other, play players like smith. The two are simply oil and water. If we want to progress IMO, we go with the strongest possible side.
