  1. was this a reaction to the bent deal collapsing? i'm fucking delighted man An astonishing reaction. /Midds. Not so much yours.
  2. And bankrupt the club? Yeah great idea that Dave. I really shouldn't even bother here like but clearly finding an extra couple of million for Gomis isn't the issue, the issue is what we think he's worth. And if they want more than we think he's worth? What will we do then? I know, we'll either buy nobody or somebody we rate less. And people like you think this is a great idea because then you've got "value" - meanwhile plenty of other clubs have paid the going rate for the players they actually wanted. Something Ashley and our club seem to forget is, when you want another clubs player you may have to pay more than you think he's worth, seeing the seller doesn't want to sell generally and have there own valuation. By Ashley's standards we've offered a bloody fortune for Gomis considering he's available for free in 12 months time. Especially in the context of the ridiculous bid for Bent. We are a bit of an oddity, we bid high for Remy last season, De Jong too, we seem to ok with high bids when it suits, but the middling to lower bids we piss about for the sake of a million or two. I don't think there's much odd about it. We do actually bid the 'going rate' (whatever that means) when we have competition or we agree with the valuation. I'd be happy to wager the French reports that we we bid more than whatever Borussia Dortmund ended up paying for Aubameyang were spot on.
  3. Commissioned and paid for by the club, and fair play to them for that. Sadly still feel a twinge of disappointment whenever I go past it, and far prefer the strength of the Milburn statue. But I suspect very few would have captured him in a way I think he deserves, and hope that over time it the weathering will add to its gravitas.
  4. Newcastle united football club.
  5. Somewhere between a Mike Hooper and a fairly on form Wojciech Szczęsny.
  6. Been interesting on Twitter today. "Was with them in Portugal for 4 days & it was really encouraging. The Kinnear stuff is alarming." "Pardew & others need to find a way of 'controlling' JFK because he deals with Ashley." "He (Pardew) would walk if Kinnear interfered on training ground/dressing room - don't have any doubt about that." "I have very little doubt that, as things stand, if and when Alan goes, JK takes over."
  7. To be honest if we had passed last month, the Chronicle would almost certainly have been crowing about it. Barring any concrete evidence I'd not be surprised if 'bloke at work' was actually bang on.

Really ? and i'm married to Wonder Woman, what an ego. Just like Ashley not wanting to sell at a loss, it can only be a good thing. We have to do well to get what they want.
  9. Was that not mainly down to accommodation blocks or summat? We could well have top level academy status actually looking around. We appear on ManU's fixture list - http://www.manutd.com/en/Players-And-Staff/The-Academy/Academy-News/2013/Jul/Manchester-United-Under-18-fixtures-2013-2014.aspx And after not hearing owt after the last round of judging The Mag came to this conclusion - http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-articles/exclusive-newcastle-united-get-top-academy-status-but-they-just-forgot-to-tell-us/

  11. There are plans to 'rebuild it' just needs Ashley's approval. Pardew says that we have fallen behind top clubs in terms of facilities "especially water-based recovery and stuff like that". While I know very little about this kind of stuff, most Premier League teams have pools at the training ground these days don't they? We have blow up ice baths etc. Be good to get some upgrades mind; think Ashley has been fairly good on sorting out the training grounds to be fair.

If you look back most of us are saying, top ten if we can sign a three or four players. The squad would then be good enough, it's whether Pardew can rise to the occasion and be better than last season. Out of interest, if we only get one, or none at all, which seems far more likely than the three or four additions you mention, what would you then consider a realistic objective? Say we get two strikers, i think that's what'll happen. 8th-12th would be my guess. If we sign only one, 10th to 16th. If we sign no one i think we will be in serious trouble (because of Pardew mainly). Obviously just my opinion them, but if we had a different manager, ie a better one. I think with our squad those scenarios would be 2 or 3 places better in each. Even if we do get players in, Pardew is a problem, we can only hope he's learned but going by the way the team has lined up again, the dearth of chances being made again is a major worry. That's a fair enough assessment, agree with that. I just fear there is no chance we will get more than one in, and even then I fully expect it to be Bent on the last day of the window. That'll be it, worst case apart from no one i suppose. It's so hard to look forward to the season when we seem so far behind most teams on the transfer front. Bring in one or preferably 2 good strikers, and I would say there's a lot to look forward to this season. If not though.
  14. Lovely vid, lovely bloke. Some cracking memories there.
  15. 17/2 ... get amongst it. Where? Everywhere basically http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/relegation Ahh yes. 9.4 on Betfair. Having just looked at our fixtures I think I'm gonna wait until late September to get my money on just before the Everton game. 13 on Betfair fixed odds. /not that I approve... Aye, fully intend on trading out though. I'm not convinced we'll actually go down, but I am convinced we'll flirt with it. Ah, gotcha.
