  1. I agree that we done the right thing avoiding this disaster, but what makes you think what's been written is true? I can believe it (though it may be slightly exagerated). It certainly fits in with Pards quote about how new players should not expect to just walk into the team.
  2. Guessed that was why we changed tack. If true, that is completely nuts.
  3. But the most likely reason we didn't persue Bentley further was, as Pards seemed to indicate, he wasn't willing to wait to break into the team. If, as you say, Larsson has the same atitude, then there's little point in him coming either.
  4. The entire last page of the thread was speculating about it. Where in the what now? Quit the speculating then and give me answers.
  5. Pardew - "I want a player, our board wants a player but that doesn't mean the other club wants to sell," he said. "In some ways you don't know if the result yesterday was a good thing or a bad thing. There's a sort of clue thrown in there." Clue? Who's he on about? From here - http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jan/06/newcastle-united-andy-carroll-dubai
  6. Quote from Pardew tonight regarding Stevenage when asked about making changes - "I don't want to rotate, I want to win!" Though tbf with all the injuries tonight, he's not going to have that many choices left anyway.
  7. That's absolutely mental. I just know how to pick the games It helps that those 30 or so games have been over 6 years. Mind you, I have seen Chelsea, Spurs, PSV, Marseille, Juve and Sporting at SJP. It'll feel weird the day that I come away from SJP after witnessing a defeat. Have no idea what it feels like As yer man said, that is utterly nuts. Well played.
  8. We're not gonna lose Ranger. It's better they iron out all his rough edges now, and don't give him too much too early. He's been veyr good as an impact player off the bench and should continue to fill that role, until he picks things up in training etc. So finally we get to see Leon Best play from the outset. Happy for the guy, and I'm sure he'll do well. Call it a hunch. That's the spirit!
  9. Christ. Ah well goot luck Besty son. 2 goals tonight please.
  10. People should go after Pardew (and rightly so) if Carroll is sold after all the assurance that he gave us He should fkn resign if it did happen.
  11. When it comes to transfer dealings i don't think there's anyone out there better then Levy. People automatically think i'm overrating spurs players but it's not that at all. I simply have 100% faith that Levy will con any potential buyer into paying well over the odds. Did'nt quite a few say we wouldn't get more than £3m? ok now lets see what we get for Bentley. On the flip side you pay over the odds for players Not sure i agree at all tbh. I mean Bent and Bentley for sure but can't think of anyone else. Ruel Fox.
  12. Something I'd love if we did more, whey, if we had any decent players. Got fairly close fairly good returns on Milner, Martins, Beye, the Zog, Duff, and er... Bassong mind.
  13. Paul Barron says hasn't got a clue why he was sacked and always had a very good relationship with both Ashley an Llambias. Don't think we'll ever get to the bottom of it.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

It's a spin because you take the worst possible scenario and present it as fact. There was no guarantee first of all that we were gonna sign him at the end of the season, and even if there is nobody knows whether this is money taken from end season kitty or just Ashley deciding to be a bit more generous in January (without affecting the end of season funds)

We're better off spending it now than waiting, at least we have a player that we all want. Bah, just caught the VAT increase though.

“I am absolutely delighted to be signing for Newcastle United on a permanent basis. During my short time at the club, I have thoroughly enjoyed playing for the team and for the supporters too. This is a great club and I am very happy to be committing my future to them.” “I am getting back to fitness as quickly as I can and am really looking forward to getting back to St. James’ Park, seeing the lads again and, of course, working with Alan Pardew and his staff.” “During my time out, I have been inundated with messages of support from fans, and I want to repay them all with good performances on the pitch later this season.” Think he meant the poster Ha, right so.
  17. He's doing a wonderful job of alienating his readership like. Does he enjoy slagging off the people that keep him in a job? Can't imagine many of the internet maniacs buying the Chronic tbf. /not a maniac obviously, cos I think Best is pure lush.

  19. Look, I too loved Hughtons style, but I don't think it's fair to hammer Pardew simply because he's a ittle more humourous and open about players. In this case, his commenting on both Best and Barton today have been great, clearly meaning a lot to Best in particular, and the comments regarding Barton are very positive for all of us considering the concern he was one of the ones leaving in this window.
  20. Aye, he probably expected moving from League Two Bradford to Premier League Newcastle would mean a more lucrative package. Silly him. I'm sure wages were a factor, but it had sod all to do with us. Taylor only wen't public (that we approached him, along with a number of others I might add) as it gave him increased leverage negotiating with his club as his deal was nearly up.

Considering many thought we never had the intention to buy him, even at the end of the season, this is tremendous news - well done to everyone involved. /Now for a striker please.
  22. How is it the 'Atomic Bomb' act you state when Pardew has seemingly initiated an evolution from the Hughton book rather than a revolution, no player has walked (in fact one notable player, Ben Arfa, has been brought in despite many not even believing we ever had a plan to buy him or that he would under Pardew), and there has been no drop in the efforts on the pitch? Barely a nudge to the kidneys in the scheme of things. Hope it turns out to be a positive move for the club.

    Alan Pardew

I would be tempted to put the slight drop-off in form down to the moral-lowering effect of Hughton's impending sacking, rather than the fact the players weren't playing for him anymore. That might be tempting, but how does that fit in with the apparent shock from the players when he was disposed of?
