  1. No. Get the best that we can possibly get in. I don't think I could stand another reactionary appointment. Allardyce is an option but without much of his backroom staff available who knows how he would cope. There are plenty of other managers that we could and should be also sounding out.
  2. He was never leaving anyway, was he? With all of the other signings we apparently will need to be making, finding a secondary right-back does not need to be added to that list. Roeder obviously loves him, as well. I'm not sure if "want" is the right word, I don't think we have any choice in the matter. We don't have any choice in almost any matter that is club business tbf. Nevertheless I wan't shot of Carr and Baba. If it is beyond Roeder to replace them, or if he has any amount of faith in them helping the club move forward, then that would be pretty disappointing in my eyes.
  3. Taking transfer fees out of the equation, both.
  4. I hope he was kidding. Difficult to tell sometimes. Oh come on.
  5. Allardyce has been there 8 years and his net spend is less than what we paid for Babayaro! What has he ever won? What did Shearer win in his career? Did it equal his ability as a player? He won the Premiership Title with Blackburn. Is the correct answer. mackems.gif So he has less to show than someone like Phil Neville? Yes pissing myself too! Phil Neville is a very under rated and versatile team player. Can and has played right across the back 4 and as a holding player in midfield to very good effect. Different type of player to Shearer, but still a vital cog in a team. Arguement about winning stuff is about as manager not as player. My arguement is that Allardyce is touted as being the right man to appoint to acheive success for us when he hasn't acheived success (in terms of trophies) for anyone else and therefore in that respect has no better credentials than Roeder has. Quite a blinkered view though don't you think? How long was McLaren manager at Middlesborough? He won more trophies in his stint there than SBR did with us. Allardyce has built Bolton into a very good squad who know how to play against the best teams in the league, have great fitness and training programmes and thanks to him are around European qualification places. All without really spending anything. Roeder has got what? 3 team relegated and hasn't been in his jobs long enough to build anything at all. Just because both haven't won anything its stupid to say that makes them the same! Never said they were both the same, just stating a fact that Allardyce has never won anything and therefore has the same credentials as Roeder who also has never won anything. Given time and patience to build a team Roeder may prove himself with us (i don't think he'll get time and i don't think he's capable either even if he did) or he may crash and burn, who knows? Allardyce might come here, be given oodles of cash to spend and waste it on shite and also crash and burn. No no no no no. Not getting into an arguement on his suitability, but I can't let that slide. Roeder has been involved in 3 relegations. Sam got Limerick promoted as player/manager, Blackpool to their highest ever position and playoffs, got promotion with Notts County and has taken Bolton from relegation fodder to promotion, and established in the top half of the Premiership with ambitions in Europe. Forget winning trophies, one seems to habitually do well while the other does almost the opposite. So no, I wouldn't say they were particularly similar at all. Managers don't win things teams do. They can only guide and about another 1000 things have to fall into place and the stars have to be correctly aligned. It's silly all this debating about CV's and shit. Hmmmm, pointless judging managers on their relative successes? Righto. Astrologically, Alladyce has the Gods on his side, while Roeder clearly has the fates conspiring against him. I know which I would choose to play the Premiership lottery. Mystic Parky has "Star Sign" on application forms for jobs at his place.

    Gahahahaa!

Get in. I might actually buy a copy if that was the case.

  9. Back to Blackburn then. Clearly goes nuts without being in the first team.
  10. Utter shite in almost every respect so far. Dreadful squad building, dreadful displays, dreadful handling of the team both on and one can only imagine off the pitch, and absurd handling of the press (though no doubt Glenn Roeder blames the third person Glenn Roeder for that). And that is excluding his previous ten long miserable years in management prior to his ill concieved appointment. Guilty.
  11. Are you still unable to grasp a very simple explanation, dear God. One last time. Gejon was trying to be clever and failed, you jumping up his ring and lapping at his starfish claiming he was right, does not change the fact he was wrong, no matter if another 20 window lickers dived off the Sunshine Bus and agreed. With regard to Souness' CV, as explained it was a private joke, which was replied to by the person sharing the joke, pretty damn straightforward alright, but even when explained more than once it still hasn't sunk in. Ironically, the private joke refers to my last visit here, where Parky deliberately took the piss because people weren't reading the posts (deja vu) and were saying I was an apologist mackems.gif Unable to argue my corner mackems.gif Black Knight syndrome, no matter how many times you pritt stick your arms on they're still coming off. Nope, you've lost me again. What points are you arguing there, and how exactly am I jumping up someones ring and lapping at their starfish. Despite you being unable to grasp the throbing nub of the issues at hand, this is getting intriguing. Please continue.
  12. Im a loon because you dont understand? Its much easier when you answer the questions for me and you give the answers you want to hear eh? To think you mentioned my comprehension aswell mackems.gif Both Gejon and myself have opined that you were wrong regarding Roader not buying 'bodies for the sake of it" and gave fair arguements which you have failed to counter. Just as you appear to be trying to do now when your simplistic view regarding the worth of Souness' CV is picked upon. It is pretty straightforward but you appear to be utterly unable to argue your corner sensibly. Good day sir!
  13. You of all people are commenting on my comprehension mackems.gif And why would that be? You have still failed to answer my points regarding Gejon bringing up Sibierski I notice. What was? Not this - Nobody has felt the need to because it is unnecessary. My post mearly pointed out that Alladyce's appointment would now garner less criticism than when we appointed Souness. We knew enough about Souness not to hold much store by his record alone.
  14. Parky thats utter shite, compare Souness' CV to Allardyces and get back to me Allardyce is the new Bobby Gould / Joe Kinnear :parky: I see that your comprehension is as bad as ever.
  15. So if he replaces Roeder, is backed fully by the Board and fails, will he be yet another s*** appointment by Fred? Could we not ask the same hypothetical question if we appointed Hiddink or Hitzfeld? Errr.....why not? The answer is obvious, of course you can so I'm not sure why you asked. Yup the answer is obvious. Whoever they hire, the board are ultimately held to account by how that appointment does in his time here. If Alladyce were to be appointed and did well then the board can share the glory, otherwise they will share the failure. If he does fail though, the board might get a little more sypathy in their decision (as they get with Dalgleish and Gullit to an extent) than when they appoint recognisable dross like Souness or managers with records like Roeder.
  16. No, sacking Robson was not the problem, it came if anything too late. Our problems do not stem from indiscriminately sacking managers, but from from not preparing and ending up hiring incompetent replacements. There were in no way the calls for his head in his first season that we have seen for Souness and Roeder, and with good reason. It is fairly obvious that you give a manager like Robson time, he had the pedigree and the future looked positive. If we had that with Roeder he would deserve longer, but we do not, and that is why people are rightly looking at alternatives.
  17. Come on, other than playing the bloke, you would be hard pushed to give any credit to Roeder for Sibierski, he lucked out when signing him for a start getting a call so soon before the deadline closed. As for Milner, Roeder is bloody lucky the bloke is even still here after he failed to effectively swap him for Viduka.
  18. By lad. This is cracking banter. You said - And I stated that Gejon was right to bring Sibierski up and gave my reasons. Roeder had little on him other than his name and some hastily gathered opinions. Along with Bernard, if that is not a desparate gamble on getting bodies in, then I don't know what is. Now rather than dancing around and laughably claiming that others have a lack of comprehension, if there are inacuracies in my post tell me and argue against them.
  19. Gejon is like you, incorrect, as he was attempting to quote me and thus prove me wrong. The moral of the story is those lacking the required organs for thinking, shouldnt attempt it Actually reading would go a long way to resolve these matters, but learning is obviously time consuming. What on earth are you blabbering about? Care to point out the inaccuracies in my post?
  20. Possibly Mr M, but we aren't blessed with the intricacies of exactly what goes on. He said he gave the Chairman a list Months before there was a signing, were the players too expensive, were the alternatives not willing to move? Only two people know for definite, but what Im glad he hasnt done is bought a body for the sake of it or took an ageing name on a last pay day. Quit trying to be clever numbnuts, you're lacking the equipment. Sibierski was free, not bought Gejon is of course is right to point out Sibierski. He was not released by City, his contract was bought by Newcastle for an undisclosed fee within an hour of Roeder being notified of his availability. Roeder admitted that he spent that hour phoning round to find out what the guy was like. Whether the offensive tadpole swimming around your skull is capable of accepting it or not, Sibi's signing is the epitome of aging failures being brought in at the last minute to fill out the numbers. And thank fuck he did come because with Roeder’s inability to strengthen the overall squad numbers (along the way 'missing out' on his move to lose Milner so as to bring in another aging forward Viduka, and indecision leading to losing two defensive targets to Boro), we found ourselves absolutely desperate for any extra bodies as soon as the inevitable injuries started piling up. As for Alladyce, he can control and get the best out of a diverse group with mixed reputations and I would like to think that he could do the same for our bunch of prima donnas. We don't have the money to waste any more and again I would trust him with that side of things as well. Not the first name we might have all hoped for but with tumbling expectations on whether any decent manager would take the job anymore, he might well be a good step to take the club back in the right direction.
  21. Great post though by WShak. I hope it gets the response it deserves.
  22. If 11 men running out on the pitch at SJP floats your boat.... As long as there are no hard tackles.... *cough*
  23. As Dave has said, it's more like "I haven't joined anyone yet" - not a thing about "not joining Newcastle". Nope, I made no comment on their absurd headline, just that his signature appears to be far from 'in the bag' as AO suggests is'all.
