I don't think anyone believes that really, I certainly don't. But I do believe he would want signings in, like any manager. Of course he does but equally he's more than aware of what's going on, and won't say anything for feat of upsetting big mike and losing the best job he will ever get. I think it's fair to say he's demonstrated his complete lack if spine. He's as complicit in this as Ashley and JFK Fair point really, I don't disagree with that. As we've discussed though, I don't think that Pardew not walking out in protest is really a criticism of him. Firstly, why should he not try to hold onto such a brilliant job? And secondly, any manager Ashley employed would have to do the same thing. It depends on your moral standpoint I guess. If he feels that it doesn't bother him that he's a central cog in something that is ripping the soul out of a football club and he's okay with that, that's his call. For me, I wouldn't want to be involved in that. He can still leave at this point and prob get a relatively good job I'd be absolutely raging and have no doubt Pardew is feeling just that. But... I'd still be in a privileged position I'd unlikely get a shot at again, still feel I'm in a position to see the team do well, and still be working every day with a remarkably talented group of players (whether they'd been bought on the cheap or not). I'd tell Kinnear he's fucking useless in private, but I'd not make the club look an actual joke by doing it in public. I wouldn't blame him for walking, but if I could handle the stress I wouldn't walk myself.

Nope, failed to get their paperwork in on time. I can't even imagine how I'd feel if that happened to us with Kinnear. On a separate note, the number of bids that clubs apparently put in and unsurprisingly failed with in the final few hours always seems mental, but it happens every window. It's like they're all chasing an adrenaline high.

Buh-doing! 4 down to 7.

Plausible.

Well, as expected, an utter non performance. Fuck you, and fuck the idiot who saw fit to employ you.

That the threat that Northumbria Police confirmed never existed? They confirmed nothing of the sort. Sorry, my mistake. They confirmed they'd not advised Ashley of any threat. Better. Don't make me defend the cnut. Not tonight.

Bit negative for you mate, what's wrong? Ran out of milk.

You'd like to think we'd get it all, or at least a share, but not sure we get anything if the Prem is similar in set-up to the Scottish Prem. Different in the FA cup obviously.

Support is simple. Pay yer subs. Cheer on the team. It's the emotional ties beyond that that are giving us a good kicking right now. I reckon those small moments of joy and pride will always make it worth it though.

we have a game tomorrow he can make himself available for if that isn't too much trouble -
I think it's a trust problem. When Ashley has left people to their own devices it's come back to bite him in the arse in some way. - Allows Allardyce to sign players he wants, ends up stuck with utter rubbish on high wages - Lets Chris Mort set up a "system", ends up with the manager quitting (rightly) with the others in the system completely despised by the fans and shit at their jobs - Gets Llambias to run the club, despised by the fans, extremely hesitant in the transfer market to the point that Ashley apparently has to step in to push through purchases in January, fails completely to increase non-football revenues & signs a sponsorship contract that pisses off everyone I don't know if Pardew was Ashley's mate before getting the job or Llambias' mate. If it was the latter then it's another reason that Ashley might not trust people to do their jobs, if it's the former then it's probably why he's still here despite being demonstrably out of his depth. For some bizarre reason it looks like he trusts JFK hence why he keeps turning to him despite him being a lunatic. Ultimately Ashley's either going to have to bite the bullet and find someone to run the club that he doesn't know and initially trust but who can actually do the job and who knows how football works or he's going to have to be a lot more hands-on in running the club. I think you're very close to the mark. Generally in his business dealings he works with people who he has known from the very start, or has known over time and promoted. It's clearly a fkn nightmare getting people in he feels comfortable with, and then when he does they turn out to have gained his trust by basically bullshitting just how good they are in a field he knows practically sod all about.

Hate to say it but I think you are in a classic downward spiral of crippling pessimism, bolstered by often plausible but ultimately false realities that I fear you believe are all too real in their consequences. You are at a stage now where I sadly fear there is no escape from your Pardew focussed dysphoric state as this forum just provides ample opportunity to maintain depression through constant defeatist re-enforcement and excessive rumination. .. also referred to as "REALITY". "BALLS".

Good point but i'd rather a manager stood up to owners than let himself get bummed. Ashley wouldn't appoint Poyet if he stands up for himself. or anyone else who would object to the current transfer policy so that narrows it down to who? who the hell would work under these restraints because I sure as hell can't see Poyet doing it Poyet's out of work, why wouldn't he come? The question is would Ashley want him? Considering he's suing his former club for wrongful dismissal, probably not. So I guess we'll just keep fiddling on with a scout in France and a manager from the 1990's. because he could wait and get a better job elsewhere, he won't be short of offers when sacking season begins. Wouldn't be too sure of that like.
