I don't want to get relegated as I think we got very lucky last time that the remnants of the team were the best to drag us out as we had: Genuine leaders more than good enough for the division (Nolan) Internationals at their peak (Jonas, Coloccini) Good up and coming players (Enrique) And a Youngster who started to show his potential (Carroll) Also due to wages and transfer fees we were not vulnerable to bids for these players. And we used the loan market well. And we had a good man manager in charge. Today we have very few players who fulfil the above, and those that do, e.g Perez and Sissoko are vulnerable to bids. I also have little faith in the boards ability to make good transfers this time. Who can for get Marlon Harewood and khinishivilli

Spot on. Football club management strategy straight out of Monty Python: Bridgekeeper: Stop. Who would cross the Bridge of Death must answer me these questions three, ere the other side he see. Sir Lancelot: Ask me the questions, bridgekeeper. I am not afraid. Bridgekeeper: What... is your name? Sir Lancelot: My name is Sir Lancelot of Camelot. Bridgekeeper: What... is your quest? Sir Lancelot: To seek the Holy Grail. Bridgekeeper: What... is your favourite colour? Sir Lancelot: Blue. Bridgekeeper: Right. Off you go. Sir Lancelot: Oh, thank you. Thank you very much. [Crosses the bridge] I can just imagine Remi Garde's interview now: Charnley: What s your name? Garde: Remi Garde of France Charnley: what is your quest? Garde: to manage Newcastle Charnley: what is your favourite colour Garde: Blue! No! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

No one is even brave enough to put their name on that statement.

Meant Ryan Taylor. I'm using age and respect as a yardstick but for the purpose of highlighting that Jonas is by far the best candidate for caretaker of those at the club.
-
Saying it over and over doesn't make it any less stupid. But what are the intelligent alternatives. Appointing a new manager would be preferable but we have gone beyond the point of no return there. So we need to look within ourselves. As far as I see it, the shortlist is the coaches: Stone Beardsley Watson Or the senior players: Colo Taylor Jonas What is the obvious choice.

Even without a manager coming in Carver has to be removed (and there is enough on him to sack him for misconduct without the need of a payout) In that situation the team needs a unifying individual to take the lead of the club for the remainder of the season, someone the players know and trust. The options are limited - all considered I think Jonas is the best option.
-
Don't forget that Willo was probably already wound up by Carver telling that fan that he hasn't been following orders to keep the ball on the ground...
-
Ryder has already written an article drawing parallels with Hughton, struggled in the PL but came into his own in the Championship. The unfortunate thing is if we do drop, there isn't even the remote chance that the club will hire a decent manager but if we go down it's gotta be between, this inept fool and a manager who just threw a playoff place out the window. The significant difference is that Hughton was liked and respected.

Carver clearly to blame for ill discipline. Club must be near a point now where they are going to have to justify the club's disciplinary problems to the FA

He's not getting sacked man. Ashley has forced out Llambias then sacked Kinnear. This is not something new. Too close to relegation, too much criticism on the holy pious St. Sports Direct.com of Nazareth
-
fuck me, i'm astonished he's won 5! With the mighty Plymouth Argyle
-
He is going to blame the fan who posted his chat about Williamson on Twitter isn't he?
-
He will get sacked at the end of the season. He will be from rags to riches and back to rags. His wife better enjoy their nice home while she still can.
-
I would get Dummett at CB he is clearly our best player in that position.
-
Pardew possibly I think even Pardew had realised that Abeid was bringing something to the team. He did give him a run in the team pre-injury
-
At this moment in time, you would have to wonder who could unite and motivate the players quickly, and get them playing together in time? Needs to be someone well known and respected by a number of players with proven determination and leadership. Jonas is the best option now as manager for the rest of the season in my opinion.

There are more than you think. It's why so many regulars have given up going to games yet attendances remain high.
-
I think the biggest difficulty will be persuading the leisure fan that they should stay away. For example the Scots travelling down to see a high profile game, or the family of five that have spent £200 on tickets for the single game.

Definitely think a widely respected ex-Toon figure getting behind the boycott would do wonders. Shearer or Keegan would be the dream, but another would be a letter of open backing to the boycott in the printed press from 100 ex players. Imagine it getting signed by the likes of Ginola, Srnicek, Lee, Howey, Clark etc. That would be momentum!

I suppose you never know really like if imagine if in 2002 and I told the people in the pub watching England vs Argentina that the mullet haired player that gave away the penalty would become a respected premier league manager, I'd get laughed out the place.

Next Souness tbh

Leadership and man management wise he would be very good, but I also think he is someone who as a player knows his weaknesses so plays to his strengths so he is very savvy in that sense and I think he would enjoy working with players to improve them. On the negative side there is a worry about maybe because he is a route one player he is a route one manager, but not necessarily as mentioned before he knows his strengths so it benefits him personally to play for more direct sides and direct philosophy managers. But that may not translate into Him being a route one manager. A lot of the names mentioned so far are top players, but sometimes such players can find it difficult to manage players that are worse than they were.

Of recent newcastle players I see potential in Kevin Nolan, maybe not beat of the best but j think he will go on to have a decent record and be a fairly popular British manager
