  1. OK, lets also look at some history here on Keegan. Remember the comments after the Chelsea home game where he admitted we werent good enough to compete with the best and KK was hauled down to London for a please explain> Well, I bet the conversation went something like this: MA: So, Kevin, we are not good enough to compete with the best? KK: Thats right MA: and what is your 3 to 5 year plan to make us compete with the best KK; Lampard, Henry, Beckham and T
  2. EWOK Neither you nor I know exactly what was written in that contract. However, what is known is that Keegan knew a director of football would be appointed when he agreed to the job.
  3. I expected adults in charge of a large corporate business that clearly had a business plan to work towards to act on behalf of the employers who paid their substantial salaries to the greater good of the club and leave their individual egos to one side and come to a mutual agreement on best practice. Clearly, this was impossible, judging by the EGOS in place and therefore, Ashley's biggest mistake was appointing the biggest ego of the lot, KEEGAN. Now, that is my opinion based largely on events, past and present and I dont expect all you Keegan bleeding hearts to agree. I would much rather see the club move on under an off field and on field management team, with the ability to guide the club to success under a business plan that has been agreed by all concerned.
  4. It was claimed by the club that they wanted to run the club in a european style with a DOF and coach. In essence, I suppose you could say that Keegan was NOT the manager, but the coach and Wise was the Manager in charge of recruitment, liaising with Keegan over player purchase. My take on it, knmowing the past history of KK, is quite simple. Because he didnt have his own way 100%, the toys were flung from the pram, as he has done so many times in his past. Whether he used the situation to his own personal advantage financially is open to debate but the fact that he has come out already in the press stating "the club I love" etc makes mockery of the whole situation. He quite obviously refused to negotiate his position at the club to the plan put in place by the club. He was not prepared to change, simple as that. So, what does he do to the club he loves? Does a runner, like he has done so many times before. Kevin Keegan has really only had his own personal self interest at heart since he was a kid at Liverpool. To come out with all this shit about the club he loves is the worst kind of hypocrisy in a so called sportsman. He is not interested in anything or anyone else but himself and all those KK lovers have been sucked right in. Stop living in the past. God almighty, we are even in a new bloody millenium since he was anywhere near able to manage properly. I am not an Ashley lover and hope he sells the club as quickly as possible but the only mistake he has made in this whole sorry affair was bringing Keegan back in the first place.
  5. Keegan will no doubt make it obvious in the press just how hard done by he was by the administration of the club, like he has done in the past. In fact, he will probably write a book about it and no doubt, a hundred thousand gullible geordies will spend 30 quid plus to read what he has to say about the whole matter. It would be adding extra cash into his pocket on top of the 2 million plus he is already getting. It would be interesting to hear the other side of the story from the owner and co. Whether they were right or wrong in the way they dealt with the matter, if the arbitration is singling out the Gonzales matter, what happened to the matters relating to the Milner sale, the Xisco purchase which Keegan insisted he was also dead against, but do not appear to have been mentioned in the outcome. Like many others on here, I would like to know the stories regarding Keegan's wish list and knowing his past history at whatever club he has been at, I am pretty damn sure it would have been high profile with little regard for costs and if everyone was 100% truthful in their assessment of the situation, you would have to admit that the club was in no financial position to get the players KK wanted. That is obvious by the extent of busines conducted by the club over the last year or so and the current situation we find ourselves in now. In short, KK was and is not the man to manage this club and even perhaps, any other club for that matter. With him ion charge, we would have been worse off than Portsmouth are now.
  6. As someone else said above, we need to move on. Too many people on here are letting their hearts rule their heads. In order to get back to somewhere like we were under Robson, it is going to take a few years, at least 5 to 7 years to build up a half decent squad again, capable of getting into the top 4. We currently have neither the ownership or the management to do this and un til that is addressed, we cannot really move on in the football side of things. When I say management, I mean at executive level, not football level. Enthusiasm will not get us there alone. We need organisation, money, and a total change in coaching direction, top down through the academy and scouting systems. This will not happen overnight and without any quick fire solutions, such as Manchester City rich benefactors, it is going to take a few years. Shearer is NOT the answer either. We need an experienced, quality, knowledgable coach/manager who is not afraid of a challenge. An older person with a young side kick who can learn. Somethoing like a Hiddink/Van Basten type partnership, although I realise this is impossible, put something like this type of set up.
  7. Lets be honest here, even if Ashley sold the club and Keegan stated he wanted to come back under a new owner, we no longer have the financial pull to back his obvious requests for players. We are currently in a financial meltdown and dealing with debts associated with past administrations of the club. Until we are on an even keel, we will be in no position to match the big boys, even if we get promoted this season, for a number of years. To a certain extent, we are going to need to deal with recruiting lesser players at reasonable prices on low wages as well as developing our own youngsters. Keegan has shown so many times iun the past, wherever he has managed, that he is unable to adapt to these types of conditions. Classic example of this is his dissoltion of the reserve team the first time he was here. The club primarily needs a quality coach/manager and if this means brweaking the bank to get him, do so. First choice for me would be Hiddink after his contract is finished with Russia after the WC.
  8. Firstly, get your facts right. Keegan was never a coach. He was a manager, He had very little to do with coaching other than joining in in 5 a side games. During his first spell at the club, Fazackerley was his coach and subsequently followed him to most of his appointments after that. Furthermore, wherever he has gone, he has been given substantial funds to buy players, as you well know, and has failed to win anything, as you also well know. Keegan even admits himself that he is tactically niave and was one of the reasons he gave up the England job. We also remember how under his management of England, the failure to win games against Portugal and Rumania from being 2-0 up in the euros, not to mention the number of games we were ahead in during 95 only to succumb to the opposition because he had no idea how to defend. Yes, I have coached a number of players currently playing around europe at a high level including McDonald at Celtic and Grella at Blackburn. What I have done in coaching is nothing to do with this discussion though, although, suffice to say, I am well qualified to comment as I have donne all my coaching badges.
  9. KK and coaching ability? Dont make me laugh. His coaching ability extends no further than 5 a sides. Proven fact by the complaints of both England and Manchester City players during his time in charge.
  10. Any intersted parties may also be waiting for the outcome of the Keegan/Ashley compensation case before taking the sale further or not.
  11. Based on opinions, this is mine Strength, aerial ability, pace and movement up front, it has to be Carroll and Lovenkrands which is about the best we have at present. The major problem is the supply line and we need our most creative player in the centre of midfield. That is Barton. If we could have got another decent left back in, I would have considered moving Enrique to the left of midfield. He reminds me a lot of Alan Kennedy in his hey day and he played a few effective games in midfield for the club before he left for Liverpool.
  12. Its swings and roundabouts. You can argue till the cows come home about NUFC being demoralised, MUFC getting a new lease of life. What it all boils down to is NUFC lost crucial games that they were leading because of the managers inability to close these games up with good tactical defensive substitutions whilst MUFC took full advantage. Also, Keegan embarrassed himself and displayed his niavety live on TV with his "i will love it" comments proved his inability as a manager to handle the psychological war being conducted by Fergie. The league was there to be won, HTL and should have been won. I doubt Bobby Robson or someone of his ilk would have lost the opportunity if in a similar position.
  13. As I recall, we lost the league by 4 points that year. A draw in the game against Man Utd would have seen us still lose the league by 2 points. We lost the league because we could not defend leads in the last 20 minutes against Blackburn and Liverpool plus dropping a point at Notts Forest, a game we were also ahead in.
  14. HTL Apologies for the error in sending the last message before finishing. I meant to say that I could not see Wenger or Ferguson throwing away such a lead. Furthermore, I blame Keegan for wealking out on the club THREE TIMES because he couldnt get his own way. I also blame him for setting unrealisitc signings to the board last year. How do I know this? Lets just say that I know and leave it at that. I also blame Keegan for running away from a job when the going was starting to get tough. I would imagine Hughton gaining more rspect than Keegan for the effort he has put in under exptremely more difficult circumstances than Keegan had before him. I also blame Keegan for trying to con 1o million quid out of the supporters of our club for work not completed because he didnt have the balls the manage the club when it was clearly in a financial meltdown. I could blame Keegan for a lot more as well but these are the major points. Hopefully, I have answered your "12 point itch" as it seems to be annoying you to the extent of being totally irrational.
  15. HTL If you took the time to read my posts on Keegan, you would realise my "beef" with him is a lot more than throwing away a 12 point lead. You conveniently ignore games at Liverpool and Blackburn where we were leading with a few minutes left, only to throw it away due to tactical ignorance. I couldnt see W
  16. Otter Why the "jesus wept" comment?
  17. Its bollocks There is nothing on the sun website.
  18. Was thinking if Kenyon from Chelsea might be a useful addition to the administration of the club. I believe he is available at present
  19. HTL Apologies for not replying to you earlier. After all, I am not a real supporter with a "feel" for the club because I live in Australia and due to the time difference, I am not able to reply. Of course, that is in your eyes. I will not waste my time replying to your jibe AGAIN about the 12 pioint lead. It is history and in the records. Read it for yourself. Suffice to say, we blew our chances while Man U took theirs. Keegan was our manager and he basically shat himself. Simple as. If you could get rid of the blinkers regarding your hero, Keegan and use a bit more Peripheral vision, IN MY OPINION, the bloke is a waster, con man, serial quitter and spoilt brat, He has never won anything as a manager nor has he ever stayed long enough to finish a job he started. You are probably one these people who would rather have a Keegan as manager than a WENGER or a Ferguson. However, if you are happy to be continually let down by this childish, churlish individual who is currently trying to take the club to the cleaners in order to pay off his debts from his "circus", then that is your perogative. You are entitlked to your opinion as I am in mine. However, just one thing, stio trying to ram your opinion down my throat as the truth. I dont fucking care anymore. End of discussion.
  20. Constructive Dismissal - legal jargon for poppycock. Simple fact -------------Keegan - EGO - Resign If he cant have his own way, then he walks. That has been his standard stock action for years and he is trying it on again. Couple of questions to answer: How many times has he resigned from NUFC? Have you ever known anyone else to resign as many times before at any club? How much does his soccer circus owe? I believe somewhere in the region of 5 to 6 million pounds. Is this all coincidental or is there a trend here? Sorry guys, I dont trust the bloke. He has an agenda because he has a ego the size of mars to feed.
  21. CP, If he resigned, mate, he doesnt deserve a penny..........................simple as And we know his reputation for resignong from jobs, dont we?
  22. CP Do you really think he deserves 10 million quid? Look at the big picture. If
  23. This is really not a case about taking sides. The entire future of the club may well be based on the outcome of this hearing. I would hazard a guess that the outcome of a sale of the club is largely based around whether the club has to pay Keegan 10 million or not. A couple of points could also be discussed: We are given to understand that Ashley is not going to put any further funding into the club. If he loses, who pays Keegan and where does the money come from? We are still largely way over the mark on salaries and with little opportunity to get rid of unwanted players, the only possibility is to sell wanted players. If Keegan wins, expect Taylor and Enrique to be sold by the end of January. Also, by my recollection, Keegan has walked out on this club at least THREE times. Whatever reasons given, such as player purchases, stock market flotations, director of football interference, it seems to me that if he doesnt get his own way, the club has to suffer and ultimately, the fans. In my opinion, for those fans who have given and still give this so called lover of NUFC 100% support, you really should be largely let down by him and what actions he has taken for his own vbenefit. Yes, I hope he loses because he just does not deserve to win. Simple as that. And before anyone accuses me of being an Ashley supporter, I would be more than happy to see the back of him too.
  24. Unfortunately, it is a case of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. I remember when I was a kid and the thought of foreign players in our game was virtually not comtemplated. Smaller lower league clubs were the starting point for future division 1 and international stars. The money these clubs got kept them in existence and the conveyor belt continued. Now, we have gone totally the other way,. Clubs like your Portsmouths, Burnleys, Stokes Hulls etc are bringing in second, third and fourth class foreigners to the game in england because lower league clubs are asking to much for their best players. Result is that younger pklayers with potential are not getting a chance whilst second rate rubbish from overseas are given opportunities. Thye English League needs to get back to grass roots and the latest rulings regarding squad sizes and home grown players should be closely followed by the development of salary caps at clubs. I can see the european super league happening very soon as well.
