  1. Agree. I don't think either would be expensive. Both would be good back up, although you can argue we already have plenty of players in the more attacking midfield role (I'm not sure if Ambrose is that good on the wing) What we really must do this summer is scout the motherfucking earth for a strong, mobile defensive midfielder. Quality players in that mould are few, very expensive and out of our reach but if the work is done we'll find the right man. That would improve us so much, giving more creative freedom to Guthrie/Nolan/Barton that I'd pay the majority of our budget for a good player in that position. Then again, it might just not work (as it often does with foreigners in Newcastle) and we'd be back to our old ways of wasting money. Hopefully things are now different in the dressing room and whoever we get would adapt easily to an already functioning team.. I cannot see the point of buying either of them. Ambrose has found his niche in this division and Adam is no better than Guthrie plus he is untried at a higher level. I also feel we need to fill more important positions first before looking at midfielders, like a right back, another central defender, a striker and a back up left back.
  2. Start the season in style......................Mackems away......................3-0 to us.................Darren Bent Hat trick.................LOL
  3. Apparently, Daily Mirror saying Nolan to Arsenal for 5 million quid.................................ROFLMAO Sunday Sun ........................Carroll to Blackburn, Saylor to West Ham

    Hall

Isnt Mertsecker on a free from Real Madrid? Quality player experienced at all high levels but wages might ber high though.
  5. Getting back on topic, I took a close look at Nolan on recent games aired over here. I was impressed with his work rate in both boxes and take away his obvious finishing ability, at this level at least, he seems to be the heart and soul of the team at present. Notice his goal celebrations and he is virtually always first to celebrate with others when they score. I have largely been impressed by him espoecially recently and considering the debacle of a club he came into last season, I see no reason why he cannot be effective in the PL as he once was with Bolton. Good luck to the lad. An obvious leader we have been lacking for years.
  6. I know hes f***ing huge, how can you miss him Seriously though in a midfield carrying Ballack and Mikel its harsh to say anything about the constant bit of quality in there. About as good as yours to me about fighting for your country. Which war was that, Ronny? Primary school under 12s? Always some pillock jumping in to drag a thread off topic simply at the sight of Ronaldo posting, grow up for gods sake. He is agreeing with a KEVIN NOLAN post and i agree with it also for the record, we will struggle with him in CM for any game Hughton chooses 4-4-2. Yeah, and you should read the PMs I am getting off him threatening to punch my lights out...LOL. Never mind, you are right, keep the comedy acts to PMs My apologies if you are so offended.
  7. They're still wrangling with Tesco about planning, they won't proceed with the demolition until everything is agreed with what is going in its place. I'll be sad to see it go, would rather have seen it refurbished and made part of the new developments. Will be good to see some shops actually worth going to in the heed though, might help liven up the town centre a bit. town centre is a hole, and i wouldn't dare even go for a piss in the pubs Not wrong there. Last time I was back in Gateshead in 2005, I had to make an emergency dash to a pub at the bottom of the High Street, just opposite Boots the Chemist about lunch time. Jeez, I thought I walking into a fifth world nation ablution establishment. The fucking smell was revolting and guess you could say I never pissed so quickly in my life.
  8. About as good as yours to me about fighting for your country. Which war was that, Ronny? Primary school under 12s?
  9. Think if West Brom win all theirs they'd beat us by a point. They can only get 95 points in total. We're already on 92. A win against Ipswich (if we lose against both Reading and Plymouth) still puts us on 95 points with a far superior goal difference. Realistically, I dont thonk WBA care a toss about winning the championship now that they have guaranteed promotion. I can see them taking their foot off the pedal a bit and wouldnt be surprised to see Boro win down there.
  10. Point at Reading Win at Plymouth Crowned champions before KO against Ipswich plus convincing win Draw at QPR Champions and 100 points attained Carroll top scorer with 20 goals, Lovenkrands 18, Nolan 17, Shola 12 Ohh and we will score 93 league goals for the season
  11. Considering that our anticipated budget might be quite low, I would think that we may have to lower our expectations on who we might sign. Personally, I think if we sold Best and bought someone like Fletcher from Burnley, we would have enough firepower to stay up. My main concern is at the back where Taylor and Collocini have failed at the top level before and there are no guarantees it wont happen again, whilst Simpson is a risk at right back. I would prefer to see us buy a couple of seasoned, tried and tested professionals at the back, perhaps from overseas, to ensure we are more stable there. Obviously, we would need to sell some and buy others but I see the defence as the priority.
  12. Yeah, well, I hope he isnt apple crumble next season in the PL
  13. Did he? Tbf that is good a thing as most people from G-Head usually pop along to court in the best tracksuit which is usally the Lacoste one. Have you ever been to Gateshead? I don't own a tracksuit and haven't bought anything lacoste for about 12 years. Lots of posters on here will also live in Gateshead or come from Gateshead and won't like the sterotype/dissing of their town. Never been to G-Head in my life, I have only herd the horror stories about it & some say it is like North Shields of 70's. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ht09DVXuWwc/SlPm5WI38mI/AAAAAAAAAAc/Ce1-eojrwew/s400/Gateshead-Car-Park.jpg There you are, you've pretty much been now. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_m7RHCfp3u8s/SQX9HiVOg8I/AAAAAAAADhg/HIt-PGZDb1g/s400/07-08-08+Eldon+Sq+Renovations+%281%29r.jpg As an expat Gateshead lad, actually, Low Fell, what is happening to the site where the multi floored car park was? It should be an icon after featuring in the Michael Caine movie Get Carter. Also, does anyone know if Shepherds of Gateshead still exists? I used to work there on saturdays and christmas holidays when I was a kid.
  14. You could also say that his sudden turn of fortune on the field this year has singled him out for extra attention therefore opening up space for chances to be created for the likes of Lovenkrands, Nolan and the wingers.
  15. Eh? Terry isn't my fav footballer in the world but why is he a c***? All he has done is shagg a bird. I bet therre must be loads of birds throwing themselves at him. Young man, money, flash car and footballer. Bingo. Footballer shaggs women shocker. He is a married man, with a young family and a role model to thousands of kids who love Chelsea and football in general. I would say that is quite a lot to be started with.
  16. and no doubt as you are one of the few who want a new manager instead of Hughton next season, you will be first in the queue at 9.00am every sunday morning for your copy, hypocrite! That isn't hypocrisy, mate. Here's an example to help you out: Onnly problem with my opinion on Solano against Guthrie, which you have conveniently omitted is that Guthrie has been absolute trash as a right midfielder and could never play right back as well as proved to be a failure already at premiership level. Solano has done it all. There is, nor can there be any comparison. This "assessment" by you has nothing to do with the hypocrisy you have shown in your contradictions of the Hughton situation. Furthermore, I seem to recall your contradictory comments regarding Beckford as well, which were well documented on this forum and a huge reason for a great deal levity aimed at you at the time. Mate, give up now, your credibility was lost months ago.
  17. I'm going for a draw as well, probably 1-1, then we will win at Plymouth and presentation of the championship trophy before the Ipswich game........................perfect scenario with a convincing victory and finsih the season off with a draw at QPR to score the magical 100 points.
  18. It looks more and more likely that Burnely and Hull will be going down with Portsmouth so I would be looking at the following: Left Back cover - Fox from Burnley Striker - Fletcher from Burnley or Maynard from Bristol City plus Austin from Swindon Wingers - Eagles from Burnley, Driver from Hearts Right Back - Hinkel from Celtic or Hibbert from Everton or Perch from Forest Centre Midfield - Bullard from Hull (one year loan deal), Cleverley from Man Utd. Centre Back - Mertsecker (sp.) from Real Madrid. Not getting a game them apparently Get rid of Best, Smith, Ryan Taylor and Steven Taylor for anything over 8 million quid. Send out Forster, Kadar, Ranger and Inman on loan to top CC sides with the condition of immediate recall if necessary.
  19. on the subject of Mourinho, I really cannot stand the arrogant twat but you cant argue with his record. However, hos football is boring and ask him to do a job on a limited budget and I think you would find that he would not be as successful as Ancellotti who, in my opinion, has the greater experience and success at both managerial and playing level. As for Everton, I really like the way they play and can see them overtaking the likes of Villa and Spurs next season. Moyes is an excellent manager and his record in the transfer market is second to none especially when you consider some of the gambles he made on buying pklayers from lower leagues such as Lescott, Cahill, Jagielka and Baines. I also like the fact he is prepared to back his younger players too and the likes of Rodwell and Gosling are real finds. I hope he can keep them out of the clutches of Man Utd and they show loyalty in staying at the club. It would be terrific to see Everton overtake Liverpool and I think that two or three shrewd sigings particul;arly at centre back and up front couild well see them do that.
  20. and no doubt as you are one of the few who want a new manager instead of Hughton next season, you will be first in the queue at 9.00am every sunday morning for your copy, hypocrite!
  21. Anybody know much about bet 365 live stream of the game and how do I get it on my computer?
  22. Just watched it live here in Oz. My cousin is a lifelong Celtic fan and will be absolutely spewing. I seem to remember they lost in the cup to a team called Gala Fairydean a number of years ago and also lost to Inverness Caley Thistle when they were about as big as Ross County are today. CanNot wait to see the rude reply to my email from my cousin later..............LOL
  23. Merlin Some good points there but for one, I doubt we could get the Russian because he doesnt fit into our financial plan. We are more liklely to go for Beckford again or maybe the lad from Bristol City. As for your other areas of concern, it is agreed that we needd to bring players in such as maybe O'Hara as a creative midfielder or possibly someone like Scott Brown from Celtic. £20-25m + money generated through transfers would be pretty good. I don't know whether the remaining cash would be used to pay back loans to Ashley or whether it'd be used to cover the wages, etc. that Ashley's been covering with the loans to get the club running on an even keel. IF we could get 8m for Taylor(or Coloccini for that matter), I would be reasonably happy with 25m on top. This would give Hughton the chance to bring in around 4-5 decent players who may just tip the balance in keeping us up. Knocking McNally's article simply because he IS a prat and a Mackem to boot does not detract from the fact that much of it is correct - most realistic fans DO know that 15m is not going to be enough to keep this team in the Prem. We are lacking in all key areas of the side when competing at the top level...we need a RB, a Prem quality central MFielder, a Prem quality striker and also, in my view, the best prem quality CD we can get. For a striker such as Pavyluchenko, as has been mentioned, you will be lucky to get change from 10m because Spurs(and all other clubs)are well aware that we need players to survive. That would leave 23 mil to spend on 3 other positions..... Incidentally, whilst I agree that Dorrans would be an excellent buy for the club we have very little chance of signing him ; would YOU sell, say, Enrique to WBA after we have just gone up !? Their fans would go ballistic. Also, Man C are reported to be interested in the player and they would have far more chance with the type of money they would put on the table. Dorrans was signed by WBA from Partick a few years ago - maybe we should be examining our scouting network in Scotland - and elsewhere.
