If Geremi is RB then Beye will play CB, no problems. I suspect, however, that Carr will remain at RB and Geremi will be pushed into midfield.

If nothing else, would be an excellent squad player, but I think if he got his head down he could do really well for us. Still at a good age, lots of experience and a quality, intelligent player. Might be just what we need as a holding midfielder, if that's what BSA has planned.

As TheJanitor has alluded to, these quotes we keep hearing from an Ashley 'source' have mentioned a number of times his intent to 'build the biggest and best', etc. As such, I think he will want to sign a high-profile player to boost the club's image and send out a signal. Hopefully, that will be tempered by Allardyce's pragmatism and we'll have a happy medium.

Have a look at these lists and tell me who you'd sooner have.... Barton, Viduka, Rozehnal, Beye. or.... Gattuso, Ashton, Andrade, Miguel. Three of those would be coming only for the money at this stage. I don't want that. Do you think Speed, Solano & Robert came to Newcastle for the love of the club? No. I'd imagine money was a huge role, still did us no harm. There's a difference between the lure of dosh and the PL and whoring ourselves like we have done with Owen, Kluivert, etc.
