Football Manager, the game that made every internet gobshite an expert.

He's shown he can be an extremely gifted player at times, but that does not make him a great player. The fact that he's mid-20's and unable to hold down a first team place at his 3rd club, suggests he's not the player he/some people think he is. That said, would like to see him start for the rest of the season.

Incredible isn't it. Would love to have seen some of this lot when we were dying on our arses in the 2nd Division under McGarry/early Cox. Don't know that they're born.

Sadly, it's indicative of some of the fickle arseholes that 'follow' the club nowadays.

We don't have a very good manager, we have an average (at best) manager who I think is getting the best results from the team but not the best performances and I base that on our season so far, not on today. Even now though I think we're close to not getting the points expected because our poor performances are now affecting our points haul in a way that performances were being over shadowed before the New Year. I would go as far as saying we've done nothing of note since the first week in January and even then the performances were far too erratic. So what do you propose we do, re-appoint Kinnear or Shearer? Do you honestly think any manager worth his salt would come and work here for buttons and under the financial restrictions? Regardless of Pardew's shortcomings, we are well and truly punching above our weight this season, and he should be given a lot of credit imho.

I haven't abused a single poster, was just a general remark, didn't realise everyone was so sensitive. My point is that even the greatest football teams the game has ever known, don't win all of the time. Look at Barcelona this year for example.

Wolves were terrible yet they were allowed to come back from being 2 goals behind. Our starting line-up was wrong, our tactics were wrong and the substitutions were wrong. Maybe so, but that's football. Even the very best teams/managers don't win all the time.

A team that is talked about as challenging for Europe should beat the 18th placed team. I guess today was just another one off though. Of course they should have, but they didn't. That happens in football leagues all over the World, and makes this game so great.

One thing's for certain, this board has some of the greatest football tacticians the game has ever seen. I mean, how dare Pardew only get this team/squad within a point of the CL with all these millions of pounds at his disposal. What a useless cunt.

wat It's not difficult. We all know the craic, the the club went to Ireland in the summer of '09 words were said, players left etc. Smith played his heart out in the championship. You could arge that's his true level. Who cares? We're a premier leage club again and this lad played a big part in it. Biggest load of shit I've ever read. Ever.

Exactly, he's done an incredible job given the lack of resources and small squad at his disposal, it's hard to think of another manager who could have done a similar job. I find the Ben Arfa hysteria cringeworthy as he's only produced the odd flash of brilliance in lots of mediocrity since he arrived. Yesterday however was different, he played as a team player, worked his stones off and his all round contribution in the game was excellent. That is the player he can become and maybe Pardew's hard line attitude with him is justified? I'd be very surprised if he doesn't start our next few games.

He was never my favorite player in terms of ability, but I thought he was a fantastic professional and a great servant to the club. Met him a couple of times and he was a really genuine and unassuming bloke, an absoute gent. Genuinely shocked here. RIP.
