Strongly disagree - West Ham lost their manager but didn't turn into a farce.
-
I don't think it will come down to the manager, I don't think the squad of players that we have are good enough and no matter who we have in charge, will struggle to do anything with the squad for two reasons: 1. Our quality players are injury prone 2. Our fit players are either over the hill, not good enough or too young/inexperienced
-
I thought he was average to be fair, caught out of position on a number of occasions, the poorness of their front men was our good fortune tonight rather than outstanding defending
-
Well done Dave, puts me right off some threads.
-
Brilliant is a bit strong mind you. He was good going forward, and obviously did well with his goal and the assist but defensively he is still piss poor. Saying that, its about time the lad had a canny game because he has been s*** so far this season. Agree completely.
-
Incredible optimism and almost blind disregard for recent form/circumstances: 1. Coloccini has been ok so far, hardly brilliant. 2. Bassong is a kid and there is no real basis other than a couple of fleeting games to say he is a player that could be relied upon as a 1st team regular for a full season that would get us 8th or better. 3. Enrique - jury very much out - in and out of the team, injuries, form whatever - another player that has yet to prove reliable. 4. Barton - the most incredible out of them all - hasn't played a game for us yet this season, no pre-season fitness and mentally it is highly debatable he will ever get back to where he was with Man City. 5. Duff - well past his best, will perform in fits and starts but physically not at the races. 6. Guthrie - while has been excellent at times, is still very young and should not be relied upon as a 1st team regular at the moment, a full season playing every game would definetely take its toll - before his suspension I thought he was looking jaded already. Canny? Methink not.

Just to echo the reservations about consortium bids, particularly ones which are already talking about finite resources and still trying to rake money together.
-
Don't be daft, its not their fault, its all Keegan's and the fans fault you know. Now you be grateful and don't complain, its all we deserve you know!
-
The circus rolls on - cheers Mike, great move.

I'm still astounded that Ashley actually wants to double his money despite the shenanigans on and off the pitch driving the value of this club down and the fact he has openly admitted he is a seller - unless a super rich buyer comes along who thinks £400m is pocket change, you will have to question the sanity of a buyer at that price.
-
What a farce, ultimately he has run the club terribly - I don't see West Ham lurching from disaster to disaster after Curbishley left in the huff. What Ashley needs to to now is take the club off the market for the time being, re-instate Keegan with whatever promise/action he needs to do, do some smart PR with the fans and start winning some football games, because in the end that will be the best for him, the club and the fans - at the moment his actions are driving this club into the ground both from a value perspective and footballing one.
-
If this is true then we lurch from one bad decision to another.
-
Buck stops with Ashley for me, he makes the decisions, this could all have been averted and even in the last couple of weeks could have been sorted out.
-
Pretty much the case. Personally, I don't really see what Ashley and his pals have done for this club to make me trust them any more than Kevin Keegan. Not read all of this thread but this is a great post.
-
We are f*cked - cr*p squad, no manager and an incompetent owner who needs to get his finger out of his arse and sort things out instead of crying about not being able to go to games and boo hooing that the fans want him out. Buck stops with him - get your arse in gear Ashley and either sell or get another manager.
-
I disagree. I thought he showed for the ball at every opportunity, passing and moving, and even won it back a couple of times. Some of the passes he attempted were at least more inventive than whatever else we have currently. Not saying he IS the answer, but he could definitely be one of the better options we have for the position at the moment. Well, we will see, hope I'm wrong!
-
if i had a quid for every time someone said that about a future star You'd have about a tenner?
-
How bizarre - I thought he looked very ordinary and if this is the answer to our central midfield creativity problems then we are in a lot of trouble.
-
I'm mixed - I appreciate the efforts he has made to sort out Shepherd's mess and agree that he couldn't be expected to be a bottomless pit. However, the Wise appointment and Keegan treatment has been a shambles. Problem is there could be worse to come, who the hell is going to come in?
-
Guthrie for me is a longer term potential and its scary that we are relying on him as a key member of our midfield. While generally tidy in posession and sprays the odd good pass, I don't see him hurting teams are present and certainly not good enough to make a real impact on games. Put him beside Butt and we have a nothing centre mid partnership. As a few have said, the transfer policy of the summer has really come home to roost if we are struggling when Guthrie is suspended. For me, we were struggling before Guthrie was suspended tbh - he is a 21 yr old lad who while looks like there is potential there, hasn't been particulalry sparkling and has little experience - not someone who should be running our midfield.
-
Yep, This is why Keegan was also furious with the transfer window, he kept saying we need this and that but obviously whoever was making the final decision was not lsitening. It all came home to roost yesterday. Shola really out did himself yesterday. Don't be silly, we have had the best transfer window in years, much better than some teams you know? All our signings are real quality and we should be satisfied with the squad we have and very optimistic.
-
Glad there seems to be so many positives from a game where we got beat by a sh*t side at home. I think these positives need to be put into context of the opposition we were playing against.
-
Its alright though, we have a massive squad that can take his absence!
