Season Tickets due to arrive Thursday/Friday - see OP for latest
Slugsy replied to Crumpy Gunt's topic in Football
I'm not sure he has cleared the debts, merely shoved them in a Topco. Though we won't know that for definite till the Topco formed files its first set of accounts. Though I do believe it is indeed part of some plan around either re-financing, maybe cash out as you say or something else. Maybe that's cynical but the longer it goes without seeing any real cash being spent, the more cynical I'm getting about Ashley's motives. -
My gran could take better corners than Geremi!
-
Thanks Dave, phoned that number, they asked me what I watched, said the golf and now I'm paying a fiver a month
-
I love his response when asked how he managed to do the press conference in italian - " because I am very intelligent" Ha ha, quality!
-
Brilliant press conference, love him or hate him, life is never dull with him around! I'm glad he's back, football needs characters like him.
-
I'd be delighted, I think his legs are gone, certainly doesn't have the pace needed. My only reservation is while I agree with getting rid of the dead wood (maybe a little OTT with regards to Duff) is how many we actually sign in the summer and does our squad become thread bare?
-
Yes its very astute to bow to a players agent/owner and let them keep control of the player while he's merely parked at your club before being moved on whenever they feel like it... just so you can beat your rivals to the signing.. Yes, clearly that's the only way a player signs early, what an 'astute' reply.
-
uh-oh slugsy, you've just joing the ranks of people complaining....what a shame Heh hehmate, I was only half serious, there are of course valid reasons for not signing people at this time, I just hate 'cant do' attitudes. Instead of reasons why we can't sign players now, where are the reasons why we CAN and how if we did it would be very, very good business in my opinion, due to many of the reasons outlined in this thread. I don't know what goes on behind the scenes and I certainly can't comment on what our transfer 'team' have been up to, but I would have hoped that identifying and securing players before other clubs would be on their remit - it may be that the players we want won't sign till after the Euros etc, what it will mean is an agonising wait to see if these guys actually produce the goods. EDIT: Just seen your other post - very much agree
-
With all these obstacles to signing players at this time, surely then any signings would respresent really canny and astute business by a club who identified players ages ago and nipped in before anyone else/holidays/euros etc. In fact the astute business you might expect from a crack transfer team, oh wait.....

Going to prison is not a reason to sack anybody. Not sure quite what that means, going to jail is a very good reason to sack someone - if I was sent to jail I would be sacked under gross misconduct, to be honest, I'd be sacked just for getting charged.
-
Nope, always called him a thug.
-
What a waste of space, why in the world should we keep him? 1. He won't have a pre-season so will be gash for the first half of the season. 2. He was okay in the latter half of this season but not exactly world beating and looked like he needed a good pre-season, oops. 3. He has another ruling to go which could mean further time in jail 4. When do we as a club just say enough is enough, people like Barton have no place here. 5. There is no guarantee he won't do something else in the future given his track record.
-
It would be a disaster if we sold him and had Geremi as our first choice on the wing, Milner is Linford Christie compared to Geremi and while still needs to improve his crossing has the time to improve while Geremi will only get worse
-
As Gejon said, unless we are signing a lot more than just the 3 or 4 mentioned by KK, I see no reason to let a england under 21 internationalist go, surely we need to build a quality squad, one with depth and having people like Milner must be a way of doing that? He's certainly better than most of the wingers I've seen outside of the top 4 and as we aint competing with them, not sure why we would let him go.
-
I've only seen him a couple of times but looks a great potential
-
Hope Rangers win, good luck to them.

Bit off tangent but I'm perplexed as to what Wise actually does? Are people saying he is effectively Chief Scout but gets a Directors title and money?
-
Don't know what the fuss is all about, it was a typical leveraged buy-out with a fairly typical funding structure. Big numbers but Man U are a big business.

Very good player whom I would have been over the moon if we had signed. However we didn't, Spurs are ahead of us at the moment, they have spent more over the last couple of seasons, finally got a very, very good manager and have won a trophy which is a minor detail elluding us at the moment. Plus they are a London club which does have an effect, so am I surprised that he signed for Spurs? No. Dissapointed? Yes. Anyway, its happened, we need to move on, there are other players around and who actually signs for us is more important than who didn't.
-
Outrageous, simply outrageous - that needs sorted out pronto.
-
I'm assuming you know him personally to comment?
-
Not sure it can happen legally but am all for the idea in theory.
-
Is he actually getting a game? I watched him on TV for one game and he was absolute tosh!
-
I'm hardly Milner's biggest fan (we all know that's Jon's position), but I'm not sure if I've disagreed with anything on here more, ever. Flabbergasted - that's the word. i'm pretty sure i have like, but it is 100% f****** retard bullshit of the worst kind. Seconded
