  1. I think Coleman has more in his locker than Sanchez. He accumulated a good squad there, they have had a few bad injuries. The one to Bullard being most noticeable. The lad started well for Fulham. I don't think he will get another Premiership job at the moment but would like to see him back in football soon. He is a very young manager and one that I think will learn from the mistakes that he has made, hopefully he'll get a decent Championship team next season and brings them up to the Premiership.
  2. That apprent 7 million pound offer seems far away now doesn't it!

    Player of the year

    Milner by a country mile!
  4. If he is going I'd rather it happen sooner rather than later so that we can identify and pursue other targets. If he ever hit top form here then we would have one hell of a player but at the moment if he did go I wouldn't feel it as a massive loss as we have not see too much from him because of injury. The biggest thing is that I don't want this to drag on and on!
  5. If replacements were not an issue I would cull the following Pav - Cheers mate you helped us out. Carr - Not good enough Baba - Same Bramble - Same Moore - Same Gooch - Same Bernard - Same Pattison - Same O'brien - Same Butt - Only if we bring in Sidwell Emre - Only if we could replace him with someone like Nolan?? Dyer - Time to move on I think Sibs - Not good enough Luque - Even with a clean slate I don't think his heart would be at Newcastle. Hunts, Carroll, Ramage and Edgar - Would like to see them get some 1st team experience on loan Realistically I don't think we'd be able to replace all of these especially when you consider that we have a small squad anyway so we'd have to replace each one as well as bring in some to make up the numbers! We could keep the loaners that I mentioned but I think all would benefit from regular 1st team football at a lower level!
  6. What he said!! Carr doesn't deserve the shirt. Not many do to be fair!
  7. What gives me most hope than Big Sam will be coming in is that there has been no strong denial from the club. The fat man moved quickly to dispell the Sven rumours a few weeks ago. A week ago I would say there was a 50/50 chance of Sam being manager for the start of next season now I think it 70/30 in our favour!
  8. He just make himself look more and more a tit everyday. What has changed since last season Glenn, what has made you realise that we need an experienced defender now. We were crying out for a Campbell type of player, and along he came on a free. Even if we just got a season out of him if it were like the one he has had at Pompey this season he would have been well worth it. I will still have him here he is far better than anything that we have got but he is not getting younger his strength and speed will drop even more this season. Think he'd do a job here for another season though and Stevie Taylor is crying out for someone to guide him because all he has at the moment is a waste of space to learn off!
  9. After a good season and qualifying for Europe Ipswich went down the season after because their squad was to thinly spread to cope with Europe. It is far better for them to consolidate a Premiership place rather than have a few games in Europe. Sensible tactics from them to be honest.
  10. In theory a good idea I just think he is too old. The man should be able to put his feet up and relax with his family at this stage of his life. H ehas given a tremendous service to football, I would not like to see him die whilst being employed by a football club. I think if Roeder stays I would like to see Houllier as DoF but if Allardyce comes in I just cannot see it working.
  11. He gets accused of ugly football but you don't get much uglier than what we have put up with this season, at least we'd be ugly and picking up points. But then again a different budget and I think you'll see different kind of buys. Not just the actual cash in getting the players in but the kind of wages that he could offer.
  12. Freddy is a sly old dog who would probably back stab his own Gran if he needed to. I wouldn't be shocked if Freddy has bent the ear of Big Sam. I don't think you would get long odds on Allardyce being named next Toon manager. Shame it probably would be annouced on September 28th when we are in relegation zone, Dyer shitting in someones bed, Owen growing an in growing hair in his ass whilst on England duty and Martins granchild being paraded in the Sun saying how he wished he shared his worthers orginals with Grandad Oba!
  13. I think given a better budget Sam would bring in better players than he has at Bolton but some of them have been quality. Anelka looks dangerous even though Diouf was a disaster at Liverpool he has been a handful for Bolton. Kevin Davies looks a decent player the way Allardyce plays him. He picks the right players for the right positions. At the time nome of us were gutted by the sale of Gary Speed yet he has been in very good form for Bolton better than Butt has been for us. I would be happy with Allardyce being manager, would like to see him bring Kevin Nolan here as well.
  14. Wouldn't be happy at all. Given is the better keeper IMO and a Toon hero!
  15. OMG!!! He is slagging off the city get him out the ungrateful waster I love reading stuff like the article above gets me really pumped for next season, I am a realist so I don't think it is as simple as 2 top strikers and hey presto 40 goals. We need improvements all over the park, but I really hope this 2 hit it off. Teams would look at the teamsheet and fear us again if these two were at the top of their games. Their lack of height maybe an issue but Owens movement is top notch and the potential space they will create for each other is mouth watering. Get in there Oba!!!
  16. Feck I had to sell my soul to my wife to watch Chelsea v Newcastle, Man Utd v Milan & Chelsea v Liverpool. I'd never be able to watch all that football! Feck knows what I am going to do to watch Reading v Toon and the return legs of CL!
  17. I think we should have tried Dyer at right back a few more times. The current Dyer has no chance of playing there he was too lightweight but I think if he had a few run outs early in career there he could have been a more than adequate fall back option. One that would have proved very useful this season.
  18. Can anyone say we are really getting our return for money on Dyer? I know we can say that about alot of our players but he is one of the highest earners at the club. He was one of my favourite players, but I would be happy to draw a line under his time at Newcastle. I think he has had his best days for us and we need to let him go and he probably needs a new challenge. He could have been a Newcastle hero but he has blown his chances so many times. He has been sparkling at times this season but he has just not done it enough, considering the wages he is on we have every right to expect bad games to be a one off or a small bad patch.
  19. Halsey should have booked Terry for being a knobhead. That was a tantrum and a half. For a start they were both at it and secondly as already mentioned its something Terry does all the time.
  20. Yeah Dyer was pants today, would have liked to have seen Milner moved right and Zoggy come on for the last 15-20 mins.
  21. Makes you wonder why the feck we are where we are today when we can play like that. Okay Chelsea have played far better than that but still we competed well and only a 10 min spell in the 2nd half did we really look under the cosh. That was encouraging if we showed as much effort all season we would be in a much healthier position. Still improvements are to be made but it was good to see a bit of guts and thunder today. MOTM Taylor IMO but special mention to Emre who worked his socks off. A mention for Carr as well, not that it takes much but that was better from him today. A vast improvement on anything I have seen with him in the past 2 seasons. All that said we'll probably be served up a lot of crap for our next game!
  22. If the players see outs his contract he is a mercenary if he asks for a transfer before the contract is up he is a mercenary. IMO he has honoured his contract, would be happy to see him here, a decent play that won't cost much as an overall package!
  23. A fit Saha I'd have here in a shot but given his injury problems and our injury record I would say stay well away.
  24. Souness inherited a good squad. No doubt work needed to be done to it but even he himself said it was the best he had started with.
