No, I woudl agree with the possible reason given above by 'tomi' - Father dying last season, Being hailed as bright prospect then being dumped for Duff, Best mate (boum) leaving - these may have been factors - not just criticism by a local journo. However, the question is why is Oliver seemingly going after N'Zogbia alone, and not the rest of the player that have underperformed this season - such as Duff, Carr, Babayaro to name a few?? In todays article he even questions who would pay any money for N'Zogbia, given his performances this season??!! It just smacks of a vendetta against the player, nowt else - it can't really be called 'constructive criticism', can it??? MJ for all the s**** players they may be, have Duff, Carr, Babayaro ever refused to play for the club when asked, or bitched when not selected? Didn't Carr want out at the back end of last season or was it the season before but was told he was going nowhere??

I assume if we are to send Krul out on loan that Pav would be given another extension! Makes sense rather than buy a new keeper!

The nationals start to call Roeder to task on his excuses

I am sure Oba will run into someone soon, well thats if they get close enough to him. Michael Owen maybe of use afterall. -
Janitor thats ture. You just have to look and see who we got and you know we got no chance. Though to be fair I bet Terry Mac earns his wages at Chrimbo time organising the party and all!

Last time our 3rd option worked out well. After KK left Dalglish - Crap Gullit - Crap Bobby - Top Dog Souness - Crap Roeder - Crap New guy - ? so if he is the 3rd manager since our last good one and our 3rd former Liverpool manager then Houllier is sure to be a sucess. Wheres the Champions League final in 2 years time??
-
I think it may give us scope to employ a younger fresher manager though. Maybe an upcoming Championship manager or someone like Coleman or Bothroyd! With Houllier experience behind them I think something like that could work. I don't think you could bring in an established manager to world with Houllier as a DOF then the problems you mention I can see happening!
-
By the way someone quoted about there being a European flavour to our set up soon, who said that?
-
Hyppia better than what we got but how effective would he be, I would be willing to take a risk consdering how shite our defence are. Baines - Jewell held the Spuds to ransom over Chimbonda if they stay up we are looking at 6 mill plus! Ashton - I like him and I believe would compliment Owen or Martins well BUT how will he cope after than nasty injury he has had, he will still cost 10 million plus, I would rather spend a little more on Bent if we are going to pay that kind of money (by the way neither are worth that much but given the crazy prices for English talent we will be in double figures for them) Gabbidon - IMO decent player but would not improve our defence enough, though he had enough about him when he was at Cardiff but he hasn't set the World alight in the Prem. Don't get me wrong I'd have him here over Bramble, Ramage and Moore but not as a 1st choice!
-
I'd be happier if if was just Houllier and Roeder gone. I think Houllier is a sound manager to be fair and has created a formiddable team with Lyon albeit after taking over when they were still quite strong. Still though I would prefer a Houllier/Roeder team than Roeder on his own.

I would take Sven over many of the names we have been linked with since Souness' departure and he would be a far better option than Roeder himself. Though his tactics would be an area of concern I would trust him in the transfer market. At least I don't think we would have to worry too much about "proper" players, I think he would be alot more open minded on that front than Souness or Roeder have been! A major worry would be the media circus that would surround the guy! Its been great recently just reading stuff about Newcastle on the back of the papers I am sure if Sven was manager we would be on the front pages again.
-
It is crap really if you think about the match against Spurs when we won. If their 1st goal had been disallowed for offside then Spurs probably would have still pushed forward and may have got the goal a lot later in the 1st half which may have meant they went in at half time 1 up. With their heads high and us down the may have gone on to win comfortably. That league table whoever done it has far too much time on their hands!
-
Just thought about it and that would mean that Roeder would be incharge of our transfer policy!!! Thats a scary thought. Anyway if what Freddy said a few weeks ago that there will be money to spend in the summer is true we'll soon see if Reoder is as shit in the transfer market as we all think he is! He will have no excuses this season, there is no major championship, we "apparently" have money to spend and the transfer window is longer than the winter. Back to Coleman, I would like to see him at Newcastle, I think he is a better manager than Roeder and would not be scared of making important decisions. Saying that too many fans would be on his back from the start for the stigma of being sacked by Fulham because of poor performance of the team, the knifes would be out early for the man!
-
I think he is a decent manager he has had some bad luck with injuries this season as well. Would anyone consider Roeder as a DOF and Coleman as head coach? In normal circumstances maybe not but I think it would be a better set up than what we have got at the moment.
-
75 mins thats a good run out. I know it would have been at a much slower pace and that the game was split in three but still thats a good run out. Would be nice to get a reserve fixture under his belt and then a subs spot v Chelsea!
-
Good news! I am happy both players are back. IMO Shola is a better option up top than Dyer or Sibs. Hopefully we won't bring them back to early but to be fair with Roeder he has been pretty much spot on with injuries he doesn't seem to rush them back apart from Stephen Carr!
-
Is he just making a rod for his own back. What if this happens again and he doesn't do anything about it the same fans arse licking him now will be calling him a good for nothing so and so if he doesn't help out next time. All the same its a good thing he has done, even though he knows he'll get great publicity from it!

Neither of them took the club forward, they were cheap players to paper over cracks while money was wasted in other areas. In the summer we signed Moore, defence was totally neglected while money was poured into midfield and attack (Parker, Emre, Luque, Owen, Solano). A few months later we were giving a trial to a 30-odd year old French left back! In the summer we signed Sibierski, £5m, a third of the budget for that year, was spent on Duff when we already had a very promising young left winger who has hardly had a game since. A few months later we're forced to take a defender on loan from Standard Liege to make up the numbers. Moore and Sibierski are bad examples, they're a symbol of how badly our transfer business was conducted in those two transfer windows. There's a reason to be sceptical of this, espescially given Shepherd's record of neglectin defence, espescially the full back positions. Moore and Sibs did turn out to be half decent for us, but I don't think for one moment they would have been calculated buys. Both IMO were panic buys as there was nobody else. Our past two transfer windows could have been handled far better and I don't know who to blame most. It is not solely at the foot of Roeder or Freddie. Both played their part in poor transfer windows. This Left Back I have never heard of let alone seen play. Its not the direction I would like to see the club take but he could turn out to be a useful player, there is no harm on bringing him in on trail, he is free and as Gemmil said if he is shite we can just send him packing!
-
The boy is not a left back, I am sure he would fair better as a centre half, why Roeder didn't put Duff and N'zogbia left I do not know.
-
Because of the stigma attached to Bramble all it takes is one mistake that leads to a goal and all his recent good work will be forgotten. Its really frustrating watching Bramble because you know at times he has all the attributes of a top class central defender. He is good at most things that you would expect of a defender but there have been to many mistakes in his career. Recently maybe not as many as we would make out but as I said because of his history of bad mistakes people will jump on him 1st oppourtunity!
-
Butt must be the only contender for most improved Newcastle player, some of his displays this season have been faultless. He has done well to come back and prove many wrong, I was ready to wave goodbye to him in the summer but is has been highly valuable to us this season!
-
Would love it if we beat them to his signing but can't see it to be honest. Anyway he is alot more than a defensive dog the boy can play a bit as well he is a very neat and tidy passer of the ball.
-
I seen a clip at Half Time last night, I laughed when he was showing what to do with your arms. Didn't he say they'll think twice about running into them or something along those lines. I was thinking that a few defenders have been on the wrong end of that technique!

Why should English football be ashamed if there are no trained black managers or coaches to choose. If black players are not taking the coaching badges then they cannot complain. There is only an argument here if there are alot of qualified black coaches that are being overlooked. Ferdinand is a legend however, how does he know what will happen, maybe if he had taken a coaching badge he would be a high paid coach at the Toon??
-
If they go down I doubt they will get more than 10 million for him. Considering Johnson went for 8 and is probably considered a more premium player than Bent. The 16/17 mill talked about for bent is daft! 10 million is too much but I can see Charlton being able to hold out for 10 unless he makes a big fuss about leaving!

Even if Luque has an amazing game and scores loads of goal doesn't suddenly turn him into a success here. I hope I am wrong about Luque but I have been saying that since he's been at the club. No matter what he does tonight he still needs to do more to convince anyone. If he plays well then great, but he needs to do it on a consistant basis and from what I have seen of him so far there is not much chance of this!
