  1. Still think he could offer quality to the Premier League but we don't need a player in that position here. Plus his wages would be mega. I would prefer to concentrate on the defence.
  2. Not a chance at 7 million though, there is no way he is worth that, he MAY develop into that class of a player, I'd pay no more than 3 million at the moment.

Will he be the same after a long lay off. Very good a few years back and would have snapped Wengers arm off for him, not too sure now, damaged goods? Still better prospectthan having Carr back in our team.
  4. Ferdinand is better than all but Taylor in our centre of defence IMO. Not sure if he is the answer as I was hoping for a bit more experience but as Moore is leaving as see Ferdinand as a better alternative. A Taylor/Ferdinand partnership seems okay but its a bit raw and inexperienced. If be brought in top quality full backs I would be more than happy with Taylor and Ferdy at centre half.
  5. Do you think he was there to scout Kuyt?
  6. Are you sure that they are a great team? They have improved alot and given that its the same squad bar two players you must give props to O'Neill but he is way short of a great team! Meanhile you could say Roeder has helped develop our younsters, okay he was forced to play these boys but Huntington and Edgar look good. You could also say that O'Neill was forced to use these youngsters given that he has a shite team to work with. With all that said I would still swap Roeder for O'Niell!
  7. His recent injury record and wages would put me off. I think he was a class player but someone mentioned earlier he now misses that burst of pace he used to have. He wasn't fast but that initial power burst took him past defenders. Great bit of buiness by Wenger. Bought for £3 million I think if so certainley repaid that investment!

    Sunday gossip

As much as I like Parker if we had a 10 million pound offer and could sign Joey Barton for 5.5 million I would take that. There is not too much difference in the talent of the players plus we would have an extra 4.5 to spend elsewhere. Some would say that the past two seasons Barton has been more influencial for City than Parker has been for us.
  9. Milners form has been good this season, at the start I would have been chuffed with a signing of SWP. However, Milner is starting to prove his potential and I think we are better off developing him. Plus Milner is still very young and has a lot to learn and I think will improve as a player. Maybe SWP reached his peak at Man City?
  10. Thing is because Rooney came along so young and was so good people expect anyone who is over the age of 19 to be class already. Maybe he will be a late developer. 21 is still very young, I would say a player up to the age of around about 25-26 has still pontential for significant improvement. As a all round footballer Andy Cole improved from what he was at Newcastle and he was no spring chicken at the time. Milner has a few years to prove whether he is International material. I think he maybe just short of International level but seeing as he is young I wouldn't count out the chance of him making a full England International one day.
  11. I think he has earned a new contract with his displays this season and his decent season at Aston Villa. The lad is hardwork and doesn't seem to be a primadonna, he may never turn out to be a World beater but he will be a useful member of the squad!
  12. The old hamstring trouble before a cup game  Didn't Reyes have the same problem last year before a Champions League qualifier? Don't think it is us as I can't see us being able to stump up the kind of cash that will entice Soton!
  13. You would think that Coleman has plan anyway. To sell club captain is a big risk. Saying that LBM hasn't been as effective the past few months as he has been. I think Montella may prove a good signing for Coleman and its whether he can flesh out the rest of his squad. Bullard I thought was an excellent signing and Diop is a mighty player, Bullard has that nasty injury and I think Diop has been injury hit this season. Coleman has the makings of a decent squad but this decision could make or break their season. As a fellow Swansea lad I really hope he succeeds in football.
  14. I am surprised with this one. After Coleman being so adamant over him a few seasons back I didn't think he would let him go especially to a team in the same bracket as Fulham. Colemans judgement hasn't been too bad since he has taken over Fulham.
  15. I wouldn't be over the moon with the signing yet I wouldn't hail it as being the end of the world. He has shown potential in past season but has hardly played this season. Surely better than nothing? I would hope for better but not sure if we would have enough money to bring in higher quality. Eastwood apparently available for £2.5 million, but he could be an even bigger risk than Collins John. I think a loan signing of a striker maybe our best option for now, given that Owen and Shola should be fit for next season and then gives us chance to sign a long term quality striker in the mould of Darren Bent for example.
  16. IMO We should keep Shay Given he is one of the best keepers in the Premiership I would only have Cech and Van der Saar before him and saying that Van der Saar looked for less accomplished behind the Fulham defence than he does behind Rio and his lot. Harper is good but is in a different league to Shay IMO. Krul looks as if he has great potential but I wouldn't want him being 1st choice at the moment. Given has a number of years left in him, and I don't think we would be able to get that much money for him because he is ageing a bit. World Class I don't know but he is certainley one of the better goal keepers in the World there are not too many I would have instead of him, though I must admit I don't know keepers from other leagues well enough. Obviously the big names like Buffon, Cassais (Sp? Madrid Keeper) come to mind as better keepers as well as the two mentioned already. I think we would be daft to get rid of Shay, we would not be able to replace him with better or similar quality and we would not get that much money for him anyhow.
  17. Watching the Premiership years over the festive period and that Cantona season and some of the things Fergie said infuriated me. But I would take him here as a manager in a flash. He plays the media very well, as someone said he was probably spitting blood in the changing rooms after the game but you have to say fair play to the guy infront of the cameras he paid us due credit. It still doesn't make him my favourite person in football, but we would be silly to turn our noses up at him as a manager if the chance ever came along.
  18. I was one of the ones saying its only 1st week of July we have plenty of time and then hardly anything happened. With our injury problems you would think that our potential signings would be identified by now and offers would be sent to clubs. Souness (Sorry for mentioning his name) signed Baba and Boum during the 1st week on January which on paper looked great we are even more desperate now even if they are loan singings. We have had months of a tiny squad, surely it is not too much to ask for plans to be put into action in the 1st week of a small transfer window. I don't care what other clubs have or have not done we are absolute desperate for players things should be sorted for this weekend, even Shay says so you would think he would know best as he plays for the club. If we have got no money then our board has the responsability of telling us that we will only buy if we sell.
  19. A few years a go I would have been happy to see Barry Ferguson here, but he is no improvement now on any of our CM's.

    Stephen Carr

Carr should have been let go in the summer, didn't he want to go anyway or was that the season before. I am sure if he had more desire to play for the club he would have played more games by now. We have no room for him at the club even given our depleted squad we need fighters.
  21. I would hate to think how well Man Utd would have done had Fergusons top targets been aquired. Such as Gazza, Shearer and Ronaldinho. Yes Fergie has made some big money mistakes in his time, but the way he has brought such talent through as Scholes, Beckham, Giggs and Neville and made players who were good, but not the best around likePallister, Butt, Bruce, Irwin, Berg, Cole look like world beater. IMO he is the best manager of his generation no doubt and possibly the best manager ever certainly in the top bracket.

    Moore setback

Shouldn't that read carr-fat useless TROL?
  23. I would be hoping we could get someone better in buthe could be a good short term option. Distin looks as if he is on his way out of Man City, he would be cut price as well, would take him on the cheap.
  24. I echo the sentiments from someone on the 1st page of this topic, I was quick enough to jump on Roeder when things were going pear shaped, but now that we are doing ok he deserves some credit. This transfer window will be a big challenge for him, because the knives will be out quickly if he cocks this one up like he did last summer. We need to move quickly and I would like to think targets and the clubs have been sounded out early. When it comes to sales, I think we should only sell when someone is bought, for example Bramble, he has been linked with Fulham, only sell when/if we get another defender in. We have a threadbare squad, therefore cannot afford to sell players without replacements, with the exeption of Luque who I think we have more than enough cover for, then again we would be woefully short as Rossi is leaving as well, so no the same applies to Luque, 1 in 1 out! Come on Glenn keep this up and make the correct decisions this transfer window.
  25. Would take Carew but cannot see Lyon selling and can't see Carew wanting to leave a team that has an outside chance at the Champions League! Liverpool will not sell Crouch given that they have't got great options upfront if this does happen it would be in the summer window. The Parker thing is just and easy story to put togther and getting West Ham fans all excited.
