Man City could have had a few on Saturday, we kept a clean sheet but were lucky to do so. Our defence and attack have serious problems and nobody should be in doubt of that. We have potential in Ramage and Taylor but thats all, we cannot rely on potential.

By rights Owen should not have been picked for the World Cup or Rooney, both were clearly unfit. Whilst the FA were not directly at fault for Owens injury some of the blame can be attributed. A few people on here had different attitudes with the Welsh FA and Mark Hughes when Bellamy came back crocked all the time. For once I believe Freddy is making the right stance, and a lot of the powerful European Clubs (G-14) would be in favour of greater responsability to be taken by the International FA's.

The lad obvioulsy loves the club but the club should have given him the op months ago, this has been an on going problems, but again the club trying to cut corners. When he has played this season he has looked dangerous and a run of games can only help him. I really hope he gets this op and gets fit.

I think we would be in a worse position this season without him. Isn't he near our top scorer list now, not as if that is difficult at the moment. What I do think may help is when the time is right to appoint another capatin, that would be awkward as it wood dent Parkers confidence but I think he has enough to worry about at the moment to drive us on. Maybe if we take some of the responsibility of his shoulders it could help, however, outside him and Given I wouldn't want to give it to anyone else. Moore at a push but thats not ideal.

Just papers over some of the cracks and gives ammunation to the media that keeping Roeder is in our best interest. I am happy that we have gone through but I expect to be disappointed again after our next league game. I'd rather get in right in the Premiership first and foremost.

Don't know who can turn it around but we need a few no nonsense tough gritty players, that would run through walls to help us win, it may not be pretty but I am afraid thats what we need. Unless we get a decent manager who actually has ideas about tactics and actually wipes the board clean and gives the WHOLE squad a chance. If that means giving the younsters a go then thats what has to be done.

How many fans on here would rather lose 5-4 than win 1-0, or win the FA Cup over the league, where have these myths come from. How would any set of fans be so stupid as to rather lose than win in ANY circumstance. Hansen needs some new sources. Winning always come 1st we can think about style when we start winning some. I can't be bothered to do a poll but I'd be surprised if anyone on here would prefer to lose than win. Media crap again.

Our whole coaching regime for the past few seasons resembles and amatuer set up. Jobs for mates comes to mind. A big clear out is needed right up to board level, how can anyone defend Roeders decisions this season. So far many fans still like the man but coming out with crap like he said on SSN will only he lose him this. It should have been the case of thank you Glenn for a great job you did last season now go and build us a youth academy to be proud of and find us the next Alan Shearer/Peter Beardsley etc. I cannot see what Roeder can do to get us out of this mess, the players are not responding.

Maybe if the players start running into each other again something will be done. Fred left it too late last season and will do the same this season. I see no way out of this mess. Depressing times.

If they had enough support they could player there. I admit that they are not perfect for that role. Anyway, all I am saying is that we have the players to play this formation, I am not a big fan of it and I do not think we should build our team around a player like Luque. I think that this is the formation that will possibly get the best out of Luque though. Duff seems more effective in this formation as well.

Why not we play Duff on the right at times. He can cut in on his left. Also its not as if we will want him getting to the by-line to put crosses in for Martins. I also said we could swap Duff and Luque around if need be.

In general his subs do need to be better so that we can be more effective, but last night I assume he brought Carroll on simply to waste a bit of time!

Why haven't we got the players to suit that formation. Butt will hold, Emre and Parker in the middle. Duff left attacker, Luque on the right, Martin Up top, or swap Luque and Duff. Dyer could also play one of the wide roles as well as Zoggy and Milner.

He did nothing with England that would give me confidence in him turning things around for us but he does have a very good club record. A better option than we have now but can we cope with another media circus. Sven and Freddy are a match made.

A loss next week and we could be bottom 3 AGAIN! The league table doesn't lie, we have been so shite this season we deserve to be where we are. I don't think even the most optimistic of us can see many positives at the moment.

I am not defending Roeder I am now seeing he was a bad choice! Are the players as shite as our performances suggest, would it help having a quality manager in. Even though we have shite defenders I refuse to believe that some talented manager couldn't at least cut some of their mistakes out. Its a horrible feeling before any match these days, I dread hearing the result I am always thinking the worse. Freddy you left it too late last time with Souness a change of things took us up to 7th not the same mistake again, get someone in now and they can asses the squad and make changes in January.

We all know Shearer will be Newcastle manager someday, probably our next manager if Freddie Shepherd is still around. There is a strong chance this would be a poor option, the man has had no experience in management. I say strong chance as I don't think it is fair to write him off completely. Keegan had no experiece and he did well for us. But don't get me wrong I would be gutted if Al was our next manager. Shearer will be remembered as a legend on the pitch but that does not me he will be a good manager.

Not disagreeing with you but Bellamy also had that lack of composure until 2 seasons ago. His composure has been top class recently hasn't it. Bellamy is a quality player, but I think we have over hyped him after that episode with Souness, if we didn't hate Souness as much we wouldn't be nearly as big Bellamy fans as we are now. Anyway, we can't completley judge Martins on what he has done so far. IMO he has done okay, he had a bit of a mare in the box on Sunday but not too many excelled themselves from 18 yards out did they. He was always going to have a big weight on his shoulders, but he has played in some big matches before and I am sure he can handle the pressure. I think he will gain a lot more confidence once he gets his first goal at St James. Its going to be a tough old season, especially with our defence. We will be lucky to hit Europe again this season I think the will be so many ups and downs.

When I heard this on SSN I imagined this site combusting with rage. I am an eternal optimist when it comes to the Toon and not even I can fathom why we would sign Sieberski. Due to our lack of activity recently I guessed we had little funds to play with but didn't think it was that bad. Roeder and Sierberski will get my support but I am not expecting too much to be honest. Hopefully he'll prove some sort of asset in the same way Craig Moore came through for us. But surely some no name from a scandanavian league or something like that would have been a better bet than this guy.

What defense Do you call that some kind of a defense to worry about...even a cat would have terrorised that defense...Duff was a CLOWN just passing players and doing nothing...how many times did he shoot while there were buses and buses parked in front of his sight...He surely is blind... So who was your top player last night then fella? Again whatever kind of defense it was you didn't answer my question of when was the last time Nobby terrorised ANY defence like that. I believe if Shola played last night we would have scored a few from Duffs work. 2 standout times for me is when duff played a dangerous out curving ball across the 6 yard box, and Luque was just entering the 18 yard. Another time Duff again put a dangerous low cross the the front post yet nobody was there again. They guy at times had very little to aim at.

I am quite a patient person but Luque is doing my head in now. He had a chance to earn a place for Sunday last night, yet IMO he showed no desire. If there is anyway we can offload the guy between now and the transfer window I think it would be a good thing. We would be better off with a Championship players or an unknown from Europe because at least you could expect hard work and determination from them. I believe the guy needs a run of games but we cannot afford performances like that from him and even after a run of games we cannot guarentee success. On the Duff argument he was great last night some of his final balls were lacking but I cannot remember the last time Nobby terrorised a defence like that!

We are running out of options but I don't think Zamora would be the right move, anyway I don't think he would be that cheap. We are talking between 3-5 million for him?
