  1. Why do that, it would be the easy way out. Ranger playing = 6th spot no doubt and where would the fun be in that. Sunday is looking a real good day for me. I got to go to work at 9'oclock to make sure month end for January is done and the bank rec's all so I can get home in time to see Carroll/Lovenkrands strike partnership against our arch rivals and then I make my comeback in 7 aside league in which I haven't played since November. Oh the joy.......
  2. Given that I feel like dogshite at the moment that sentence cheered me up no end. Knowing our luck Butt would come out and say "I didn't like what JK said but to be fair to him its quite true, I love working under such an honest man"
  3. He can't be any worse than Joe Kinnear, but do we want yet another change and the media will be all over us for it. All of a sudden Kinnear would be the media darling and would run stories how we stabbed in the back the only man willing to help us blah bloah blah

    Obafemi Martins

Martins is a raw talent. He may not be the most intelligent player to grace the pitch at St James' Park but at the moment when fit he is the most effective. If we could fit quality players around him, his lack of brains would not be so much of a problem. He shooting at times is awesome evening his finishing, he is still relatively young and has time to mature. The guy has had a stop start career with Newcastle often messed around to accomodate Owen or Allardyces mad formations. I think whether we stay up this season largely depends on what Martins offers us for the rest of the season unless somehow we manage to sign 5 or 6 quality players between now and 5pm Monday.
  5. He's not had much money to spend, he has just brought the right players in that were needed. There is a cracking Dutch midfielder Ferrie Bodde, he was something like 35K he was excellent during the promotion season and was doing very well until and injury this season which will keep him out unil the new campaign. I think there is some money for Martinez to spend but he hasn't been rushed into anything. Signings like Jason Scotland and Angel Ranghel have been excellent for a relatively small fee. To think teams like Forest were able to splash out £3m on Rob Earnshaw the kind of funds that Swansea could never compete with. And as some have pointed out he is a very good coach..
  6. To be fair to Roberto, he has shown that he can step up in class. When he took over the Swans we were dire he steadily improved things. I thought it would be a bit of a struggle in the Championship and with very little money he has got Swansea in a position where they are outsiders in the promotion playoff race. I think as long as the fans were realistic about the impact he could make I think he could work out in the Premiership. Apparently his network of contacts in Spain are 2nd to none. He has picked up some excellent signings and loan signings from Spain for Swansea. However, we haven't had the best of Luque with our Spainish signings.
  7. He is a brilliant manager, being from Swansea I have seen the Swans quite a bit this season and at times the football has been great. Martinez is pretty single minded though. Even though Swansea play excellent attacking football he sticks to the 4-5-1 formation. At times it may have been better to go with 2 up top and I am not sure how patient as fans we would be with him if things weren't going so well and he sticks to his guns. At the moment I would definately take him over what we got. He is up to the job of a Premiership manager would he get the backing he needs from the Newcastle board. In Swansea he is a legend, the board treat him with the utmost respect and the fans love him.
  8. I'd much prefer to see him at RB than Edgar.....
  9. I haven't seen him play since his Rangers days. Always thought he was useful. Doesn't exactly set the pulses going but who knows, if he can produce what Sibierski did until the end of the season it would be a worthwhile deal. Either way the guy is going to be hungry for success, with his long term future in doubt he is going to want to secure a full term contract with us or attract other clubs.

Good idea, Kinnear can say Barton wants to chat about his contract they both walk through the door with smiles on their faces as Barton walks in Kinnear stops, shuts the door and locks it. Barton with cheeky grin on his face. Come Feb 2nd Mbia, Another decent midfielder, decent target man and cover right back are brought in along with a couple of squad players with Smith, Butt, Geremi and Cacapa out the door. The only downside is that Barton will probably have to serve his suspended sentence but with Mbia and another decent midfielder in there are no worries there.
  11. Where do you reckon this "fight" will be, maybe behind the bike sheds at some school. Or maybe they will have a marathon session of Thumb War to settle it once and for all. Can't believe even the Sun would print this shite.
  12. you missed a seen in Greggs option out fella. Because if they are seen in Greggs buying a steak bake the move is nailed on...
  13. Thing is Redknapp is practically tapping up. Krancar may have never thought of leaving Pompey but he now knows that Spurs would be interested she he may get itchy feet. This is wrong, to be fair if Rafa and Fergie went around banding names they were interested in like this then blue murder would be called. Look at the whole Barry and Keane affair during the summer regarding Liverpool, what Redknapp is doing is kind of worse, he is clearly trying to unsettle players and in Downing's case it succeeded, then he gets the hump when Jose says he would like Jenas at the San Siro. I am so glad this man is not Newcastle manager, then again our guy got a bit of a loose tongue hasn't he!!

    Kinnear Out

He may beat the crap out of Mike Ashley though and make him leave the club???
  15. His CV just keeps on getting better and better. Can't believe I tried to convince myself he was a good choice way back when? Black and White tinted specs I guess.
  16. Man City maybe being clever here, they are bidding a lowish fee for Given as maybe they know he wants out? Then again I am not sure if he had them in mind, lets face it a couple more bad results and Hughes will be shown the door, I doubt very much that he wants to move from one unstable team to another unstable team.
  17. Hasn't Doyle just signed a new contract with Reading, therefore, would cost a fortune to buy? It would be a good signing but I think he would be too pricey. I have seen Ledley play a few times for Cardiff and Wales and never been overly impressed but he does get rave reviews. Whether he would be the answer to our problems is another matter, an upgrade on Butt purley on the basis that Ledley can move quicker than a snail.
  18. I just read the Spuds forum, I get the feeling that they are a little upset. My heart bleeds for the feckers... Get in, I'll buy that win for a dollar..

    Gary Speed

I think he'll move into coaching/managenent in the future. Isn't he doing some kind of coaching at Sheff Utd?
  20. which is why we shouldnt appoint shearer Alot of people are harping on about Shearer needing some experience in the lower leagues, surely the Ince situation proves that managing in the lower leagues and being successful there doesn't mean you are cut out for top league management. I think what has happened to Ince has no bearing on Shearer managing us.
  21. Great finish by Owen. Totally enjoyed the 2nd half. Does anyone think that a Pen would have been given had Owen missed his chance? IMO it was a stonewall pen but I think the ref would have bottled it.
  22. Given his injury record, our bad luck with injuries, and a dubious past at the club (not blaming him for everything) I think I would stay clear, on his day he is one of the most effective players in the Prem but I don't think we would see enough of his days.
  23. The things is until Ashley sells we have to put up with this. What kind of motivation will Enrique have, he has been pissed around alot by the club, I wouldn't blame him if he wanted out especially back home to Spain.

    Kinnear Out

Carl cort is clearly holding on to Jenas for dear life...... The poor bastard is falling asleep on his feet he is so fecked...
  25. The football at times during the 7-1 win was superb, looking at some of the saves Walker made and Shearer's two misses it really could have been even more embarrasing for the spuds...
