  1. what was all the fuss about a while back with Makelele (Sp?) he was actually retired from International Football but the French Federation enforced him to play much to the dismay of Jose? Surely if a player is retired from the game thats it, surely Capello couldn'tb force Scholes to play? Same with Toshack and Giggs?
  2. Only at the Toon. This is crazy stuff but who else could do this job. How amazing would it be if Keegan leads the team out tomorrow.

    Hero!!! Hero!!!

I am just glad Fat Fred never posed like that! Could you imagine!!!
  4. Would take this normally but unless he fully agrees with the structure at the club this is a disaster waiting to happen and the media will have more of a chance to run our noses in it........ If the new manager is someone like Poyet he will never get a fair chance from the fans because of the shit Ashley and Wise have pulled off. If someone like Poyet was appointed we would have to beat Hull about 6 nil for the guy to have any chance.
  5. Even if that was true, it would be a hard sell to the fans, plus many would say he didn't do enough to keep KK, such as sack Wise etc...
  6. He'd be f***ing insane to give up Schalke to come here!! Or Hamburg for that matter!!!
  7. He's a bit of a legend and hero down here to boot. He will manage (and do a good job) in either the Premier League or La Liga in the near future. I suppose alot will write him off being a "lower league" manager. But he has done a top notch job. According to the talk down here in Swansea he has very good contacts in Spain as well, hence why he has been able to bring in very good players from Spain. He is a very intelligent Manager but as I said I just can't see him being anyones puppet. For him to leave the Liberty Stadium I think it would have to be an attractive offer, and Newcastle doesn't look very attractive at the moment. Are you 'in' Swansea or around it? Live near Llanelli myself Right in the heart of it mate. Penlan, not too far from the stadium actually.

  9. People mention a Spaniard, how would people feel about Roberto Martinez. I am not too sure he would be the right guy but he has done a excellent job at Swansea and plays really good football. However, he has had a lot of control over comings and goings at Swansea, so not too sure he would take to kindly to that little runt Wise sticking his two cents in.
  10. I think overall we have brought quality players in, the players that have gone needed to go apart from Faye, would have been nice to keep him especially as he gives us a midfield option. We didn't need to sell Milner but it was a great price. I am gutted that we haven't re-invested that money, but I would rather wait until January than make a panic buy in the last few days of the past transfer window. Our recruitments look good. Colo and Spidey looking particulary impressive, Guthrie has been better than I expected and Bassong looks like a decent option as cover. Jury obviosuly out on Gonzalez and Xisco but on paper look like they will improve the team. Even though we have a small squad I feel it to be much stronger than last season my biggest worry is that if we get a few key injuries then we are stuffed. I have lost all hope for Shola and Smith, maybe just maybe Duff can turn things around but I am not holding my breath on that one. I would have liked bigger names to be signed during the window but a lot of us have moaned at trophy signings in the past. Look at when Deco was 'mentioned' there were many on here that were against that on the basis that he was passed it. We have gone down a different route than in the past, we certainley can't compete money wise with the big boys anymore and it doesn't look like we have that much more than the average teams in the league. The age of the squad is pretty good and we have some rated youngsters on the books. It could be a lot worse than it is now but agree things could be a lot better. As I said earlier I just worry if some of our key players get injured, because there is not enough depth in the squad. One thing is for certain nothing can be done about the situation now. Hopefully we will ride our luck with injuries and maybe just maybe get some top class in come January.
  11. Only ever heard of him through FM. He is supposed to be a legend on that! But whenever I sign him the board always hammer me for it, saying the fans think he is dogshite. He can't be worse than Shola or Smith!! Can he? Its worth a punt I suppose, if Redknapp signed him for Portsmouth he would be tagged a hidden gem and part of Harry's wheeling and dealing. Hopefully this will be a busy day on the transfer front for us. Gutted that I am in a meeting with the boss most of the day.
  12. The thing about this is because it is in The Sun a lot of people would believe it. Sounds like the kind of thing he would say mind, but I am reluctant to believe this at the moment.
  13. 10 million is a good price, but I would be reluctant to sell unless we had someone lined up to replace him, wouldn't want Pennant but think that Benayoun would be a decent signing.
  14. I would like us go with the same team as against Man Utd but I would consider swapping Duff and Milners rolls around. Duff looked fairly sharp when he got on the ball, and I am thinking he would see more of it out wide, depending on our tactics of course.
  15. I don't think they will be in a relegation battle but I will be surprised if they finish top 11/12. They have some handy players that will seperate them from the likes of Hull, Fulham, Stoke and West Brom.
  16. So that means if anyone else is to get a look in at central defence, Fabio will have to drop either his captain or vice captain (Barring injuries of course) looks like Capello has painted himself into a corner somewhat This is what I was thinking. I bet all the young English centre halves are chuffed with this annoucement. And some people question why Carragher doesn't bother anymore.
  17. I like the random picture of Duff in there even though he hasn't had a mention in the thread at all.
  18. I was really worried after the 1st few minutes, I thought he looked shaky and I could imagine the amount of stick he would get if that kind of performance carried through but after that he looked pretty solid. Can't wait until he settles fully. Another plus was that Taylor looked very good yesterday. Overall impressed by the whole team. If we can beat Bolton and take a point from Arsenal then I will be a very happy man.
  19. Shearer would be hailed as a trophy signing!
  20. I wonder if this Tandy was still a pro player whether he would want to sue Barton. I don't think the kid has much to stand on really if he seeks compensation for his non-football career, maybe get some for the "mental damage" it did to him. Jumping on the bandwagon I think, plus chances are that the media will make a big circus of it.
  21. John Terry, oh I laughed when he missed that penalty against Man Utd, couldn't happen to a nice bloke. Wanker!

    David Healy

someone mentioned that Healy is proven.... Since when, he was a flop at Fulham last season. I'll admit he has a top international record but his league record is dubious. I would actually prefer to keep Alan Smith!
  23. The man is a warrior, to come through what he has healthwise is nothing short of amazing. What a great man in all aspects of his life. All the best Sir Bobby. You'll never be forgotten!! As some have mentioned lets hope he has a peaceful and painless (as possible) last stint of his life.
  24. He's a success already. I am under whelmed tbh he should have scored at least 10 goals!!!
