I would like to see Shearer in charge AT SOME POINT NOT NOW. So many are sure he is going to fail I am not sure what makes people think he is destined to fail as manager of Newcastle. At the moment we don't know how good/bad a manager the guy is so I would say there is 50/50 chance that he would be a good appointment. I would like to see him move through the ranks at the club. Maybe as a number 2 or a high ranking coach. I think that would be as beneficial as him cutting his teeth at a lower level if not more beneficial. The way some treat the guy you would think he called all the Geordie women dogs whilst speaking to a Shiek in some Spanish brothel. Maybe he did out stay his welcome but I would put that more down to his love and passion for the club than being a total selfish person. Yes he has a big ego and probably had too much power at the club but I hate to think where we maybe at the moment without the guy. I am not part of the Shearer can do no wrong camp he clearly can (bebo video comes to mind) he has his faults but I am not ready to write him off as a shite manager however, I don't think its the best idea he walks straight in as manager!! In that article he says all the right things for me, he knows its a tough job and I am sure he will want as much as an advantage as possible.

We have had a favourable start to the season and picked up some points. It is disappointing to think off the points we have lost to Boro, Villa, Derby and Reading in particular. Only Man City have beaten us soundly. It gets tougher from now on and the next few weeks should give us an idea of where we will end up in the league. At home I am confident against most teams, we do seem to have made St James' a bit of a hard trek for teams this season. If we can keep the home form going and pick up a few more wins on the road and beat teams like Sunderland and Brum we should find ourselves well placed come the end of the season.
-
Thing is if we can get a replacement in and strengthen the rest of the team I think it is worth selling. He is so fragile and there will always be speculation that he is going here there and everywhere, along with the media stirring up shite about fall outs with the manager. I think there are far too many downsides that his good sides doesn't make up for. My attitude would change if we had an injury free run from now until December, but that will bring specualtion about one of the big boys coming in.

for the 10 minutes Smith played upfront against West Ham he showed more than all season so far in midfield. I think Big Sam must get the idea that Smith is not a midfielder. To be fair I thought he could be used as one but he has been gash so far in midfield. I would give up on Shola and consider Smith as one of my forwards. I am sure there is someone out there that would spend a few quid on Shola no goal.

At the moment I would rather see Martins in the team. Everytime Owen gets a tackled I am always worried that he'll be crocked. Hopefully Oba will come into his own now that Owen is injured. I think Viduka will be an ideal partner for Oba. As long as we can get service to our front two I can see them being a very dangerous pair. When Viduka is playing like he did v West Ham he is almost unplayable.

Some of the passing was woeful and why the feck where Milner and Zoggy falling over all the time, change the boots. That was as poor a performance as under Roeder we were beaten to the 2nd ball almost everytime. They wanted it more than us. It was embarrasing enough anyway but it could have been worse. That Howard missed 2 very good chances with his head. Hopefully that is just one dip and we can pick ourselves up. We certainley need to.
-
I suppose thats what we wanted to hear. BTW the last part of the article is interesting only one 3pm kick off on a Saturday that is pretty shocking. Welcome to the modern world of football.
-
For us it is Rozy such calmness on the ball helps the whole team, so far this season Fabregas is up there. Fair play we all knew he was a top player but he seems to have stepped another level this season. That Johnson kid at Man City has been canny as well.

I think the only right back who would have not got a cheer would have been Mark Delaney!
-
I sure the report is "wide of the mark". However, if it were true I think it would be poor from Given. Harper is playing well at the moment and deserves to keep his place for now. For me Given is the better keeper and he will get his place back sooner rather than later.
-
Given is number 1 still in my opinion. He is the better of the two keepers. Just think Sam is rewarding Harper for good performances. It won't be long before Shay is back in the fold.
-
Hope it comes into effect for goal line decisions and maybe whether or not a foul happened inside or outside the box. Not too bothered about the in/out thing but it is a must for goal line decisions. The Fulham decision cost me money with Skybet on Saturday. I feel robbed! I blame FIFA!

We seem to have forgiven Barton for his "past" even though he hasn't pulled on a shirt, so if Diuof plays as well as he has done for Bolton then I can seem him becoming popular with the fans.

If Northern Rock did go tits up where would I stand on me mortgage?

I would like to see a draw. Further dropped points for Spurs would be a big knock of their confidence. Especially considering how high it has been over the summer pretty much thinking they are guarenteed 4th spot. If Everton keep they players fit they could be hell of a force this season would be a lot more worried if they signed someone like Yakubu.
-
I think the 7 sub rule should come in, but as people have said with Stipulations on a certain number of academy player being on the bench or at least 1.

Mike Ashley apperently http://www.gothamcityracing.com/tools/mikeashley/files/0001.jpg

This has bullshit written all over it. Talk about AO clutching at straws. And for Free. For fucks sake. I could believe that West Ham would want Nobby, but for Free surely there is no chance in hell?

How have we left ourselves open to this type of story? I could say that I have heard on the grape vine that a Japenese consortium is interested in Liverpool and the current owners stand to make 25 million pound profit. The only difference between my statement and the one about NUFC is that the one about NUFC is that mine is not in the papers. Mort has come out BEFORE this story and said it is not a short term investment, IMO there is not much more the club can do that say something is not happening even before they are accussed of something?
-
In an ideal world we will sign a v.good RB and a centre half that can play LB. But at the moment I would settle for a CH/LB as we have enough players that can adequately fill the RB slot and Carr isn't doing too bad at the moment.
-
I like it. Torture every season for them and the odd bit of yo-yo-ing great stuff Mowen you sadist!
-
Would anyone take a promising youngster from a lower league club that could play CB or LB?? Just wandering, our 1st choice defence is almost sorted depending on how much you think Carr has improved during this pre-season, so I don't think it would be a huge risk picking from the lower leagues?
-
If our squad is fully fit he won't get near the 1st team IMO. So maybe the best option is to loan him to Levante in the hope he does well there and then bigger teams might come sniffing and we could selling him for a few bob. Before our signings I would have been happy to keep him due to lack of numbers but he really is surplus to requirements right now.
-
OMG WTF this means we got no money! Seriously I am glad that he is taking an interest in that side of things, would be great to find the next Rooney or Lennon. Hoepfully we'll find some RB wonderkid..
-
Just thought does anyone think the "personal reasons" could be Sam asking him to play RB??
