Agreed. Think at the moment I would be more pissed at seeing Martins go.

The summer gets even better! - Pattison hands in transfer request

With the new additions to the squad Patty is not getting a sniff. Probably best for both parties this. Not good enough really! -
I don't think people are bothered about signing Edmilson it is more to do with the fact that he is crocked and out for a few months.
-
Yeah I'd rather we stabalise things for the moment. If we improve then we can think about bringing in the younger talent. We have a few young ones to deal with at the moment anyway!
-
I would be well chuffed with this deal. I think he is a quality play who could offer us options in a number of positions. Good a set pieces aswell. This is turning into a good summer. After the poor close season of the past few seasons this is a welcome treat. Its amazing the difference in how we are dealing in transfers with someone with a clue. And Roeder couldn't even say that Allardyce has had money because he has spent less that he has made.

Good player but 17 million is daft. Even if Ashley did throw his money at us I wouldn't want us then to throw it around like Bent for 17 million.
-
Don't like the keepers kit, a bit mad like. The away kit is not too bad seen better seen worse!
-
For that price I would be happy with the deal though we would be overloaded with strikers. In an ideal situation we would keep Oba and Owen, add Viduka and Smith to that and we have a very strong strikeforce. Maybe we can offer Shola to West Ham they'll pay about 8 million for him!!!
-
Would take him but not for a mammoth fee!
-
It is just the media circus that would put me off. He is a good player playing well at the moment. The media love to jump on anything Newcastle so you add Beckham to the mix then we'll dominate the news. Not sure what the stint in the US would do for him, I can't see him playing at the same intensity as he has done for Madrid the past few months and when Beckham loses that intensity he loses a big part of his game. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and I am sure had he been in this kind of form earlier in the season he would be still a Madrid play and the whole US thing would be a couple of years away.

George Georgiadis had a really good game under Guillit v Man Utd and Ralf Keidel think he had to complete National Service

Without reading everything out there, is there too much to worry about in all of this. Seems that the reports says we fully co-operated so should be no chance of anything bad happening.
-
Tough start in August but if we come out of August with a decent points tally September looks like a potentially easier month. Not sure Bolton are quite the prospect they would have been at the start of last season, but least its not any of the big four away.
-
I will take Brum at St James' we owe em one after the FA Cup game!
-
I would have taken him when we were last linked to him but his stock has fallen alot now, don't think he would improve things. If we could get him in very cheap and on low wages then I wouldn't be that bothered by the move!
-
Giuly for £1.5 million is a bargin. Even if we only get a season out of him. Forlan has been very good in Spain no guarentee he will shine in the Premiership 2nd time of asking and £16 million is a lot of money, IMO Liverpool would be mad to spend that kind of money on him. Hope the Ben Haim thing is true. Souness is a cnut so is Messi blatant cheating, had he punched a player in the face they would ban him with video evidence the lad has blatantly cheated nobody can deny this why shouldn't a ban be enforced.

I loved the beating Man Utd 5-0 commentary. Shearers goal. Something along the lines of "Beardsley" Save "Ferdinand" Save "Shearer of Course!" The Shearer of Course was brilliant IMO.
-
By no means the worse defender in the Premiership and he would improve our defence. But from what people have said about Rozenthal and Cacupa I would rather them over Browm, but that is purely based on what others have said as I have not seen the others play!
-
They're back up players to boost an already weak squad, what were you expecting? im sure if they were to sign it would be better choice than zat knight roedent wanted... What about the transferkitty of 45 mil. the Ashleymoney , the spending spree .... Cacapa I have seen and hes ok but nothing for the ambitions we havw. Jaures I dont now so much about. I would like as to get some known quality aswell as a few chances.. So if we went out and spent money for the sake of it you would be happy. If that Cacapa (who I have not seen play by the way) is good enough for the French Champions and a very good team who have been relatively successful in Europe then he is sure good enough to play for a team that has had Bramble, Moore and Ramage in their defence the past couple of seasons/

I am not used to all this good transfer dealings. It seems Sam has a plan. It amazing how having a plan helps. Hopefully Baines will be next. I imagine Sam with a little note pad in the Billy Maddson style and crossing the names out that he signs or KILLS!
-
I still think Parker is a canny player but I think he has fallen out of love with us. I think its time for a fresh challenge for him. I would not be surprised to see him do well with West Ham!
-
Its amazing what a manager can do when he has a f**cking plan isn't it. 2 players in that improve our squad, I think Parker and Barton are on par but I really think that Barton will be fully motivated to do well. I think he craves the big stage and now he has been offered it. Viduka improves our strike force and gives it balance, plus he is a canny goalscorer. He won't play 38 league games next season but he'll be a very valuable member of the squad. If he can follow up these signings with Baines and Ben Haim as the press suggested and also possibly Giuly then we would have a very quality looking team. Would like to see us linked to some right backs though!

Not sure if it has been posted but just incase quotes from .com "I have given my word to Newcastle United and that's where I hope I will be going. "Everybody knows they are a club of great history and tradition - and this is great - but what has also been great for me is that they have pushed the boat out for me, and both Freddy Shepherd and Sam Allardyce have made me feel so wanted. "I am not proud of some of the things I have done and that I have brought a lot of my problems on myself. But I want to be a winner, not only for myself but for the fans. "I have heard it said that footballers are all about flash cars and expensive watches, but for me it's all about winning medals and it hurts me that I haven't any." Just don't get that comment, surely its up to him now that we have met the £5.5 asking price and that he is happy with our terms, nobody can force him to sign for West Ham if they offered him more. Does anyone think the "hoping" part is down to us and we are searching assurances about his upcoming legal matter?
-
If we were to get rid of Shola, then Smith would be an upgrade, I just think he would cost too much to be a squad player. His work eithic is awesome and I am sure loads of fans would warm to him, but at the top level I just don't think he is good enough. Overall if he were cheap and we could offload Shola then I would take Smith, but can see him being cheap or us leaving Shola go!
-
I don't think we should through money at players for the sake of it. At West Ham at the moment is looks like the case of "we are not bothered who we get as long as we get them" If the Barton and Viduka buiness come off and Parker goes to West Ham then I see that as a very sensible spending plan. Okay Barton may not be everyone's cup of team, but he is at least on par with Scott Parker and Viduka IMO would become our 2nd best striker so that is an improvement straight away. If we get to the position where we may lose out on a player unless we guzump the other club then fair enough but I think Sam should stick to his principles. Basically he should use the same method of deciding on a player whether he is spending £15 million on a player or £2 million.
