Someone really saw you coming Baggio..

Keegan refuses to ok a deal for Turan and Gomis because he wants Kapo and Crouch instead.. ok, you just lost any belief I had in your story mate mackems.gif

Why would he? It makes absolutely no sense to sell.. Because the club isn't worth anywhere near that so he'd be happy with his £60 million profit for 12 months work? Everything's got a price. What's he going to do with that £300 million? Go and buy a different club and start all over again so he can add £60 million to billions he already has? This bloke bets that kind of money on the stock market, he isn't going to cancel out everything he's been trying to achieve over the last 12 months just as its really beginning for £60 million.. He's a business man and his main interest is making money, if he was the big fan and was interested in running the club as a hobby then he'd have pumped more of his money into the club on transfers rather than setting it up to run as a business, the fact that he hasn't suggests to me that he doesn't see it as a hobby at all. That doesn't mean he doesn't want to make us successful because by doing so he'll increase the value of the club, I don't think he's actively looking to sell either but if he had the chance to make a 20% profit then I think he would sell and tbh it wouldn't bother me either as whoever owns the club will want whats best for it and that is success. Just because he's not willing to do an abramovich that doesn't mean he's in it for the money. It just means he's not willing to make huge losses to achieve what he wants. No billionaire in his right mind buys a Football club to make money, they can make more in a reasonable low risk investment that they don't even have to be personally involved in. Its pretty clear to me that Ashley is in this to achieve something. I can't see him saying "Ah well never mind, back to Sports Direct" because someone offers him a small profit.

Why would he? It makes absolutely no sense to sell.. Billionaires don't buy Football clubs to make money, its a terrible investment, they buy them to achieve status, glory or because they just love Football.

Oh dear, here he goes again..

Like I said, they've won a few more trophies then us (the rest is just trivia). The fact that they've won the majority of those after the last time we won anything really doesn't come into it if we're talking about the history of each club. Same goes for league dominance, ours doesn't count because it was a long long time ago? (BTW Spurs have never had a single period of league dominance..) Anyway if you'd said recent history I wouldn't have disagreed with you.
-
Considering that both Spurs and Everton have substantially stronger histories than us I find this hard to believe. Really, if we are interested in signing the kid the only plausible advantage I can see us having over those two teams is the fact that Emre's here. They both have a few more trophies then us, hardly substantial (unless you're going to include Charity Shields ) Then again I really doubt most people in Turkey, or any other country, know the 100 year plus histories of each English club. Big signings, competing for the Premiership and Champions League Football is what really grabs attention these days. So what Orb says really doesn't suprise me..

I can't remember exactly what Keegan said about the Modric deal, if anything at all. But I doubt he knows the specifics of it nor would he say if he did know. There's no reason for the player to "play innocent".. The idea that he would hide his choice to go to Spuds ahead of us is bizarre, I mean, what reasoning is there for him to do that?
-
Of course the agent will do what the client wants or he will be replaced. it is not hard to think that. I am not saying it is his dream; its just that the agent put two clubs before "which u prefer" he will choose one unless he is indifferent and the agent will work on that. if that does not materlise, it is the player's choice to move to the other club. All the dilly dallying are all about finding the best possible deal for player and selling club. Look, I'm not sure if your missing what I'm saying here or just ignoring it, so I'll bold it, no offence meant but you're just not seeing it for some reason. Modric is owned by the Mamic brothers, Modric's agent is..... the Mamic brothers!! How do you fire the person who effectively owns you as a Footballer? To be clear I doubt Modric had his heart set on Newcastle and was annoyed at moving to the Spuds. But to say he turned us down for the Spuds is clearly bollocks. Oh and why have you replied to one of my posts on four seperate occasions?
-
Think about it?, make you need to think about it. For the final time the people selling the player (the club owner) and his agent are one and the same. Do you not see how that would not particularly favour the player and his wants and needs?.. By the way, nobody has claimed Modric was desperate to join us, just that there's nothing to suggest he ever turned us down or held out for a move to the Spuds. In fact the evidence suggests he had little say in his transfer A lot of players do have plenty of power in there transfers. Big names with effective agents and especially if they're reaching the ends of there contracts. However a young player who is owned by two brothers and represented by one of the two brothers is not in this kind of position. Modric himself said he was suprised when he was phone and told he was moving to Spuds. Does that sound like a player who was a big part of the transfer?..
-
Do you ever stop? I've been trying to ignore you but I just can't any longer. Why on earth would an agent who is also the owner of the selling club ignore a much higher bid from us and take a lower one from the Spuds? Especially before the Euro's when more clubs would be likely to come in. Because they care about Modric and its his dream to play for the Spuds? You're looking at everything in the most negative way possible regardless of how illogical it is.

Assuming a good portion of our targets will take part in Euro 2008 it then becomes very important for us to complete the most important deals before the tournement starts. A lot of clubs will be looking at players with similar attributes to the ones we want, but may not have done as much work scouting that player as us. They might not be sure of the quality of that player yet, if we are sure then that gives us the advantage, something that will be lost once Euro 2008 starts.
-
MaetihS .. Even if that story was true, how on earth does that make you right? If anything it actually would suggest that your wrong. Why would the Spuds need to outbid us if the player was certain to choose them ahead of us?.. think about it..
-
For a start there chairman said that 16 million Euro's was the asking price, which comes to about £13 million, not £11 million. So the article seems a little bit off, if this one article is all this is based on I wouldn't worry about it.
-
Over 20 million Euro's?.. That's at least £16 million
-
Pls quote properly..... To be clear I was paraphrasing just as an example of the kind of things you'd mentioned, didn't mean to say you said those things exactly
-
There's some pretty bizarre opinions in here, you'd think we're a first division club the way some of you go on. Also MaetihS please stop it with the french anacdotes ok.. "I read some players quotes in a magazine and he wanted to join Spurs or Everton so Newcastle can't compete"... "This idiot french ponce on TV laughed and told us not to bother making a bid for Gomis because he's a player for the big 4". "My wife says this player would rather fist himself then join Newcastle.." Enough please No offence meant but you're just posting scraps of negative crap from the media and opinions of your wife, correct me if I'm wrong but she doesn't actually know any of these players does she?
-
Well lets see, the ball deflected off a manure player, hit another manure defenders back and fell right in front of Lampard while at exactly the same time the keeper slipped right in front of him... nah nothing lucky about it Not saying I subscribe to him being a super lucky player, but that goal was amazingly lucky.

You're really starting to get on my tits.. Yes i put in my honest opinion and despite being a mad fan, i know and recognise the harsh reality in life. I was not popular when at the start of the season, i say we have a worse squad than prior one. With signings like Beye (good buy i was wrong) and Cacapa, i know we will struggle cos i have seen them play regularly in France. Also signings like Smith as i recall please some fans but i was disgusted. I was criticised when i predicted we will be in the relegation scrap and should be happy just being safe, also being blasted when i say Pompey is way better than us in terms of squad quality. Remembered when i post that if pple are thinking we will back in top6 soon are asking too much last summer, i was blasted as well. I turn out to be more right than wrong. Seriously, the state of the club in terms of attracting players due to the big club tag is bollocks....we are just a top 10 club at stretch. No doubt rising stars like Turan, Gomis, Gomez will not come to us ahead of the likes of even Blackburn, Everton and Spurs. Do not blast me now...do it after we signed these type of players. I say we will not sign players of such quality and will settle for second raters like Diane and Sessegnon. I have seen them play and they are average at best. I have posted much recently because we have been linked to Ligue 1 players which i am familiar with. These are the type of players that will normally go to teams like Boro and Sunderland, we will sign them if we are interested cos we are definitely a more attractive proposition. But players like Gomis is way way out of our league. Sorry but your totally over the top and recurring claims that we're a small club who couldn't possibly compete with the mighty Spuds and Bin Dippers is not only extremely annoying its also complete bollocks. Everton aren't a bigger club then us just because they've finished in the top six in the last two seasons. It gives them an advantage no doubt, but we have our own advantages. Its ludicrous to claim that we have no chance of competing with likes of Everton and Spuds..

You're really starting to get on my tits..
-
Don't worry about it, it means virtually nothing to them. If Newcastle won the Carling Cup you'd get 10 times the enjoyment they get from Manure winning the Champions League, because in reality they don't really give a shit about the club..
-
St-Etienne don't need to sell anyone. Feindouno's another one in the same position. They've already signed a few players, and with UEFA Cup football next season, I reckon they could push for a Champions League spot next season. I know they don't need to sell anyone, what I meant is they aren't a very wealthy club and a big enough offer will be very hard to turn down.
-
Old news, and he seems to be talking in response to questions about selling Gomis to Marseille rather then selling him full stop. I'm sure if we offered enough they'd sell, they aren't really in a position to turn down massive sums of money.
