He put it too close too the keeper, too central, if it was directed anywhere near either corner it would have been a goal.

We've played reasonably well (really well compared to most of our other games this season). We've actually tried to play Football and been unlucky not to score on a few occasions. If only N'zogbia had finished midway through the game that would have been a candidate for goal of the season. Overall I'm disapointed, but only with the ref who's been terrible (Onoua should have gone, Elano probably should have gone and the free kick he gave to Corluka for a pathetic dive just capped off his performance). We're extremely unlucky and hopefully we can push on and get something in the second half.

I'm sure a lot of people on here could do better then the fat man at the moment when it comes to simply picking a team/formation. Just a pitty none of us would have any idea how to do the rest of the job

Unfortunately football is just a tad more difficult than that. No it isn't, to do really well you need more then that obviously, but to do better then Sam is at the moment all that's required is back to basics.

Never mind Man City, Villa, Portsmouth ect.. We'll be lucky to finish above Reading and Boro.

And this would be based on what exactly? How could he do worse? Play Shay Given up front?, because that might just be Allardyces next brain wave Seriously to do better then Allardyce all that is required is to not think your a tactical genius and instead just use a basic formation with everyone in there best position and say "go and play".

Where are the stark similarities between Allardyce's start here and O'Niels at Villa? Both being in there first season at a new club with new owners is the only real similarity that stands out to me. One difference that immediately stands out is that O'Niel actually improved the team in his first season, finishing five places higher then they'd finished the season before. Allardyce will be very lucky to finish in the same position as we finished under Roeder, probably lower.

We've always played better against the top sides. But we've still aways gotten far more points from the lesser teams. IMO we're going to finish around 14th this season unless Allardyce changes his ways.

He's an arsehole and still says some pretty inane things (players running into each other) but overall he's right.

If Owen is the player singled out to be left out of the England team then I'd be extremely suprised. He's had his problems, but when fit he's been one of Englands better players. I mean common, Lampard is a no brainer as the first player that should be thrown out and never get near the side ever again.

By getting a pair of balls I just mean not running scared to the likes of Derby, Wigan and Sunderland. He's acted like a coward all season, going into games with the worst teams in the league with the aim being not to lose rather then to win.

Well you've got a point there, he is "a top man in his field" and apparently "knows best" according to himself, which must be right because, well he's a top man in his field so..

I'm sick of hearing this. If a manager can't learn from the obvious after seven months then he's either slower then forest gump on a bad day or he just doesn't want to learn. Do you seriously think it should take him seven months to realise that playing to your oppositions strengths and against your own is a a terrible idea? Its basic stuff, it shouldn't take one month to learn never mind seven months, or god forbid three years. P.S. I have no loyalty to Sam Allardyce until he earns my loyalty, I'm loyal to the club, not the manager.

Owen obviously isn't anywhere near match fit and he shouldn't start for us until he is, he's utterly useless without sharpness. Give him reserve games first IMO

Owen for Martins?, what a completely pointless substitution which cost us the initiative. Martins was doing ok and certainly didn't seem to have any injury. So why bring him off for Owen, who everyone knows is completely useless until he's fit. EDIT: Sure someone posted that Enrique was on the bench, where the fuck is the lad then? Dont see anything wrong there, we need to be defensive as we are away to Chelsea, we cant play Enrique because he hasnt played alot this season and away to Chelsea we are probably best to keep the person who has been our LB all season. IF we won our last 4 games and were in the top 8 right now people would be happy with that line up, we arnt playing for a win today, we are playing not to lose. We have a defensive midfielder, defender and striker in midfield, you don't see anything wrong with that?

Yeah, but in 5 games time, the chances are that's going to be 12th or 13th...which is around where Roeder, Souness, Gullit & Dalglish were. So basically you're saying this board is no better than the old one? No, I'm saying the manager isn't performing any better than those ones. How do you think Shepherd would have handled this situation? He'd have done one of two things. He'd buy a big name or two in the January window to try to make fans forget the real problems. Or he'd sack the fat cunt and get someone as bad or worse to replace him. The difference here is I'd hope that if Mort/Ashley sack fatty they'd get someone better to replace him.
