  1. I disagree. I think it's part of our identity. Either play it every home game or not at all. How? Its a cheesy song written by a Scotsman for a Scottish film IIRC. I don't recall NUFC being in Scotland. When was it made? Early 80's? What did we do before then? When was the 1st time it was played, who decided that we adopted it? (really would like to know where it all stems from if anyone can answer, ta) People over rate this song, its boring, dull and uninspiring. A new era could easily bring a new song, something with a bit of passion and charisma. Its not our culture, we can get rid of it, it doesn't define us by any mean. Load of s****. It's not about the connection to the area, if it was then we'd have Jimmy f****** Nail singing Crocodile f****** Shoes. It's about the way it gets the crowd up and creates an atmosphere. If you can put forward an alternative song that would be just as good i'm all ears. How about Big River by Jimmy Nail? Its all about the Tyne and far more appropriate than some dirge written by a scottish/american/geordie wannabe Jimmy Fucking Nail? I'd rather gouge my ear drums out with a rusty, jagged spoon.
  2. The vast majority of the human species? if he's basing his comment on his expereinces of Middlesbrough, he's right. what a cunt, though. I don't hope he dies of cancer, i just hope he ends up penniless and living in the clothes he pisses in under a bridge. Teh fat, cheating, orange tosspot.
  3. Why not? I managed to. Maybe if some spent less time and money on the piss they could still afford to buy their season ticket, thats what I done. £30 a week though? Student loans are options obviously plus part time jobs. You managed but its a struggle for some people. You're always gonna have people who spend their £30 a week plus they'll get massive loans and spend nearly all of it on drink. I think you would find that theres plenty of proper Newcastle fans who are students and don't waste go on the piss every night and would much rather be at the match. I don't think its fair to say the reason students can't afford season tickets is because they spend all of their money on the piss though. Certainly some, but i bet the ones who are like that wouldn't even be interested in getting a season ticket because their priority lies with getting pissed in their spare time. I would like a bit of help and i'm sure a lot of others would. It was just the same when i left school and had to come up with adult money straightaway. As it stands i'm going to have to get a loan next year and buy a season ticket out of that. If there was a bit of middle ground though it would be a big help. I'm not saying kids prices. Students don't earn as much as people in full time jobs, and i think there should be prices to reflect that. so you were MADE to become a student? Will you offer to pay more than a standard adult price if your studies result in a job where you get paid more than the average wage? I doubt it. You want to watch the match, you have to buy a ticket. If you save over a year, its not much more than a tenner a week.
  4. If only he was any good, then someone else might take a gamble on him.
  5. Like i said, it was aimed towards loyal fans, not any old person on the dole. If someone has had a season ticket for years then they lose their job all of a sudden then it would be nice to give them a bit of help. I did say it would need to be worked on so it couldn't be abused though. One thing which would stop the system being abused would be that you couldn't buy your new season ticket for the unemployed price, even if you were unemployed. It could only be used for a loyal season ticket holder who has recently lost their job and is out of work and want to renew. As i said even if it could only be used once per season ticket holder, so you couldn't get the unemployed price the year after. It was simply an idea to benefit a loyal fan who genuinely wants a job. It couldn't really be abused that way. Anyway that was not such an important point, it was the student one what was the main point. Full time students should not have to pay adult prices. Unemployed? Bad luck, but you don't pay, you don't get to go. Student? So what? Get a part tiem job, and pay the same as everyone else. Being a student is a decision you make, so either budget, or don't go to the game.
  6. I don't think anyone at all wanted to see N'Zogbia leave, so not sure what you mean by that. what i mean is that there were some people, even when it became very clear that he was beyond clueless, who were still giving it the "Roeder is our manager, we must support him, etc". Now we find out that he nearly lost us a star player. Ah right, thought you meant those who supported Roeder at the time wouldn't have been bothered to see N'Zogbia go - if that was Roeder's wish - when in reality as I said, nobody wanted this. no, that was far from what i meant.

  8. Excellent. Our best left winger tied up. Another one in the eye for the "Roeder is manager, we should support him" crowd. Maybe, just maybe, blind support shouldn't be given just because someone is employed by our club.
  9. criminal. A below average player on damned good money.
  10. Yes, charge them more! With their silly hair and inappropriate ear rings! More than kids but less than adults aye. pah! If your old enough to not be allowed to smoke at the match, you're old enough to pay full price. and if you don't like it, go TWOC an old lady, or whatever the hell it is that you young 'uns do these days. <gets out pipe and looks over his half-moon glasses> TWOC an old lady... You can't smoke at matches now no matter your age. We are not old enough to drink, vote and drive until a later age. So for under 18's/under 21's the pricing should be slightly cheaper. No, it shoudl be more, because us actual men give the club more money through beer sales.
  11. Have Chelsea under the Russian had that much time to bring through young players? I'm guessing that doing so is part of the longer term plan, but someone like Abramawotsit demands instant success, which isn't going to come from the youth team, i suppose.
  12. Given's better imo than Reina or Cech. he's not, but its always good ot have that belief in your own players.

    Emre

prpblem is, how often does he have "his day". He's a good player, but goes missing too often.
  14. does that mean Smith will never be good enough? If so, i agree.
  15. he's good for one of those every 2 or 3 seasons. must be due another one now, get him on a short-term loan!! Exactly! Howay man Sam, get him in. We all thought he was horse plop when in fact he was just ahead of his time... will undoubtedly prove to be the final piece of Sam's jigsaw. i think he could turn Marcelino into a defensive rock, as well. Fuck off Rozenhal, the finger is back!
  16. When you think about Lennon, you realise how good he is. I dunno why he isn't rated more highly (including by me). He just seems to get on with it, i suppose.

  18. i struggle with SWP. Undoubtedly a talented little fella, he just doesn't do it consitently enough (whether by his own fault, or not getting enough games, i dunno). I think he was excellent for Chelsea at the end of last season and the beginning of this one (he didn't impress yesterday though) He's someone who needs a run of games to get the best out of him and he's struggled at times to break into Chelsea's line up on a regular basis, for me he's a top player and has everything you want from a wide man. didn't like his dive against Elliot a while back, mind. Not like he couldn't have beaten the old timer for pace, was it??

  22. Exactly. Sadly many academies now think like this, including our own. Just as well the first team bucks that trend i'm trying to recall if Duff has much pace? I honestly can't recall him opening up much for us, but that might just be a perception thing because he's never played that well overall.
  23. Well said, long term we should be looking to improve on him. there's others needing replaced in the shorter term, though. One thing at a time, i reckon. If the likes of Smith etc were as good as Milner, we'd be a better side. Smith is as good up front as Milner is on the wing IMO, neither are top class but both good enough for a midtable club. If we're looking to push on then neither should be a regular in the starting 11. can't agree there. Smith has shown little aptitude up front for a good while now, whereas i think Milner is still a good enough player for a top 6 club (surely our aim in the short term).
