Are you sitting in the Gallowgate, if possible? Or did you decide on another part of the ground?

I'd imagine the opening day is actually a decent one because you'll find quite a few people with holidays at the back end of August, who have season tickets going spare. It's usually the only time I miss home games because of holidays and I suppose there must be a fair few like me. Depends who we get, as well. If it's a big game then things get tricky, or if it's a newly promoted team, but the likes of Blackburn, Fulham and Wigan never bring many fans up with them, meaning the chances go up a great deal. Also, our signings will probably have an impact, so I'd keep some cash back for August and see what the situation is towards the end of pre-season.

It's all a bit cloud cuckoo in this thread, eh? If Roeder did this and Tevez got injured or he didn't perform like the megastar he apparently is he'd be fucking lynched and we'd find ourselves in deep, deep shit - far worse than this season, even. There are at least 6 players on their way out of the club and people are suggesting spending a fortune on Tevez and settling for Sidwell, Distin and a "decent" left-back. What happened to building from the back and creating a squad to challenge the top six with? Never mind the fact of West Ham staying up, or Tevez wanting to touch us with a bargepole, or if we could actually afford it, or if we'd sell Martins/Owen if an offer came in. Fucking bonkers. FM-tastic. Mental, mental, chicken oriental.

Why would the media bloke go on national TV and talk a load of shite if it wasn't true?
-
"The People" is quite possibly the most unreliable newspaper about, I reckon, and I've heard no other mentions of South Africa anywhere.
-
They'll probably finish 5th/6th, unfortunately!
-
Just letting you know what it's like reading your tripe EVERY day. Ironic but anyway... smile its a lovely sunny day No up here it fucking isn't!

All that begging for the England job on national television was a bit of a clue. And all his suggestions that he was happy at Bolton after not getting it were a bit of a clue that he was content. To be fair, he was also strongy tipped to have applied for the Newcastle job twice since Robson as well. Obviously it's not concrete, but it was fairly well sounded-out. I think he's been far from content at Bolton for a good while now and is desperately looking for his next launch-pad to lead him closer to the England job. He's been there an awful long time.

With the FA Cup final the following week (?) and the potential CL final as well, it could well be.

Useless cunts. If Woodgate AND Viduka had of been leaving this summer then the whiff of relegation would be in the air for them again, IMO. Spurs have only won away 3 times in about 20 fucking games from what I remember someone saying on SkySports earlier today. Berbatov scored and set one up, not as inivisible away from the Lane as some seem to think. Howay Wigan.

Keith Page, cracking bloke. I knew Godsmark was fast but fucking hell, impossible to keep up with him. And Patterson did indeed score the first. The lino on the other side injured his calf and Ryan Donaldson's father ended up taking over! Janitor, it'll be a while before I'm on Reserve games (if ever). Still excellent stuff mate. Keep it up.
-
Don't give a fuck about Andy Carroll's bird when we have the next David Ellery in our ranks, tbh. How long until Mosley is spotted flag-waving at a reserves match? Did he say? (Alex Patterson got the first if I recall correctly from NUFC.com)

And because we play like Barcelona we should keep Roeder the assumption here is that roeder isn't intending on playing crap football forever, that he'll improve as we go on and get some consistency; whereas it's allardyces stock in trade and the secret to his success.... can allardyce change? i doubt it Have you seen much of Bolton at all? It is a myth that they play awful football, they don't and haven't done for a while now. Yes they can be very direct and don't mind mixing it up, but they are no Wimbledon or even Watford for that matter, they are similar in style to Liverpool and Chelsea. Anyhow stuff performances, give me results over eye candy all day long. Totally agree. I was beginning to think I was the only one on here who's seen that Bolton play far better football than us for the vast majority of the time and are as far removed from being "ugly" as most teams in the league. There's a difference between being organised and being ugly, is there not? It's become one of these media-peddled things from seasons ago where everyone is quite happy to just hop on the bandwagon and give the same opinion despite not having much first-hand knowledge of the subject matter. I'd equate it to saying something like "the Geordies would rather lose 4-3 than draw 0-0" - i.e. something that is quite probably utter tosh but is believed by most of the non-Toon supporting mongo's around the country. They're hardly thrilling, but they have some excellent players with a good level of technical ability. Regarding the technical ability thing, Bolton employ individual coaches to work on players' games on a one-to-one basis, imagine that here. There would be hope for even Carr. Welll OK, maybe not. Mrmojorisin75, fair enough, see what you're saying. Loads of the more forward-thinking clubs have specialised technical coaches these days, do they not? I recall Martin Jol banging on about Tottenham employing one in the pre-season and I'm fairly certain the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool have them, as well.

I think apathy is over-ruling the frustration to be perfectly honest. I too have been through the shit times, which is why when people claim the sky is falling in dont fuckin realise how lucky they are that 10th and 11th is a disaster and Parker is the worst captain in the history iof Newcastle, the little fuckers dont know they are born. Again with Shepherd its not all Black and White, he is partly responsible for us having witnessed some of the biggest and best names in football playing for the Toon, the stadium, the youth academy etc etc. But where he's got it wrong almost every time is with the Managers, if he isnt appointing the wrong man, he sacking them at the wrong time. For me his last throw of the dice is Shearer, if that doesnt end like a Fairy Tale, I dont want to think where we'll be. But for me Allardyce is not an option, I'd rather stick with Roeder. At this point in time, I'd agree with all of that. The points about Parker and Shepherd are particularly spot-on. People of my age, myself included, were spoiled by the Premiership years and the reigns of Keegan and Robson and I do think it plays a big a part as any in the whinging that goes on when we're not challenging for Europe or playing brilliant football. Not wanting to delve too deep into the psyche of the current generation of support, but I'd equate it to us all being something like spoiled brats who've had a gifted upbringing and are now falling on slightly harder times (i.e. our supercars are a couple of years old and "Daddy" won't get us a new one), when there are people in and around us who've had to feed off fucking scraps in the past. People like me can't help it, though, it's the old bastards who seem to have forgotten how bad we used to be and who STILL expect greatness now that really get on my tits. These might be people who jumped on the infamous "Keegan bandwagon" that we hear so much about like and there seem to be fucking thousands of them inside SJP on any given matchday. Bits of perspective like this from the less repugnant older fans are very welcome to my eyes.

Get in there Paul. That's fucking mint!

I hope so. I've never been great at this baiting business, but if this brings GHX back then my job will be done.

* No, its not. We have: 1 great keeper, 1 passable one (Harper), 1 with potential (Krul) 2 decent defenders (Nobby and Taylor), 6 shite (Moore, Ramage, Shambles, Carr, Babayaro, Gooch) 2 midfielders with potential to be very good (milner and the zog), 2 who are ok most of the time (Emre and Dyer), 1 who is poor (duff) and 1 who offers nowt (parker). 1 great striker (Owen, if he comes back ok), 1 past it journeyman (Le Sib), 2 shite (Ameobi and Luque). No mention of Oba? I did wonder the same myself...

from NUFC.com: Where's that G-HoeberX fellow these days, anyway? Been a bit quiet since his idol's appalling season at the Philipsstadion (3 goals in 6 starts and 13 substitute appearances.) One scored against Ajax in a 5-1 loss, the other two against the might of ADO Den Haag and SC Heracles Almelo. I quite liked the chubby bugger when he was here, but I have to say it's great to see him doing so badly after all the verbal-wanking he had off our Dutch WUM on here - although Hoeber was a bit of a legend in his own right. Best WUM ever. FACT!

Bungtastic Everton :parky:

He had a tough start but he's starting to look like a very good prospect now. Have to agree with this. He's been outstanding the times I've seen him playing the "Makelele" role recently.

Drogba rested for the Liverpool game on Tuesday, I'd imagine. Very sensible - if Chelsea win today of course.

Aye,but i am guessing that will only make the seconed leg better. Scant consolation for spending 2 hours of my life watching that. Good goal, I suppose.
