The inevitable consequence of the club bending the knee to Liverpool.
-
I thought he was overtly WUM'ing tbh.

Is this shitty football "product" translating into poorer viewing figures for Sky etc?

"Lift the first set piece of the season"
-
Football in 2026 is an utter farce. That set piece nonsense. Good grief.

I know it's a highlight reel, but this is the best NUFC squad I can remember, and Solano is so much better than every single wide forward player Damn. That Solano-to-Robert scorpion kick
-
Incredible player. Such tekkers with both feet - when he used the outside of hit boot, it was a choice not a crutch. Definitely in my favourite all time XI.

Hilarious all those people in that plush setting, dressed to the nines, for that. Genuinely no need for representatives to congregate there in person Pleased with the draw. Don't underestimate Qarabag, but quite fun to have a knockout tie in the CL that is winnable.

'Want me to go on a marauding run up the left flank in the second half and put in a surprisingly decent pass into the box? Ok'
-
Responsibility was thrust upon him today with other absences and he really stepped up.

I know! Good connection. No idea if it was on target

What an effort. Incredible resilience to stick at it, grow into the game and then be disappointed not to win it.

Tired legs have caught up. Ordinarily a draw would be class.

I love it man Lewis Hall vs Dembele + 3. Seems a fair fight.

Agreed. Putting himself about which is nice to see. Obviously not compatible with this shitty ref mind. But that's not on him.

Miley had a rough time but he's stuck at it well. Character building game for him.

Ramsey for me. First game where I've thought "oh, this is what you're specifically good at" - probably an indictment of me.
-
Our reserves are doing alright against these CL champions.
-
He's not £2m crap IMO. Especially with our injuries/preferred style of play.
-
Wait, what. I don't get it. Why is Adama Traore that cheap.
-
I feel the same as Holmesy but think there's huge truth to this.

Howe has been here since 2021. In word and action he hasn't IMO really ever shown a commitment to football that relies on being better physically than the opposition and showing more intensity. Even when he's had a clean bill of health and enough players to work towards it (if not the perfect squad - which we will never realistically have with our resources/the lopsided PSR deck). The way I see it, I think we can continue to be a good cup team under Howe (probably more competitive in seasons with less demanding European fixtures) but I don't think his philosophy is well suited for competing at the top end of the league and in multiple cup competitions. I don't think it's coincidence the injury situation is what it is with another CL campaign. He squeezes every last drop out of them. Different fans/owners will have varying levels of expectation and ambition. Unless there is a better manager out there who wants to be at Newcastle, competing for cups every now and again is alright with me.
