This is mad IMO.
-
Is he suspended for three games too?
-
Wasn't far off on the Bellamy comp It was daft from Gordon, no doubt. His heart was in the right place. He just wanted it too much.
-
Definitely not at distance. Hopeful his short range finishing is decent enough.
-
Right opponent for it, mind you. If he focuses on finding space in behind rather than being a ball carrier from deep. Tough discipline to master after a career out wide, I imagine!
-
Really hoping this is Gordon's breakout game as a Craig Bellamy style forward.
-
Isn't Mbuemo pretty good on pens?
-
Aye. Rip up the loan and send him our way.

I would like to start a rumour. NUFC will buy Jhon Duran from Al-Nassr.
-
Proper groupthink on the Citeh game. Well, on a lot of the games really
-
Quite impressed by both Palace and Forest

I understand some people's animosity informed who they wanted to win the Europa final, but anyone who rooted for Spurs with Newcastle self-interest at heart was crackers. Six very financially strong competitors remain instead of maybe five. Man Utd were always going to be immune to failure given their starting point.

I like Wissa but spending £50m on him is a trap. Need to buy another developmental project to compete with Osula for minutes, and keep Isak.
-
Wayne Rooney being pushed as such a prominent talking head is already quite tiring.

The off-the-pitch stuff is so offputting. Transfer window closing will help somewhat but this is all getting rather unsustainable for the other 14. It's a shame the 14 are highly unlikely to unite as clubs or as fans to protest PSR.

Not saying Shearer has skills of perception similar to Sherlock Homes, Hannibal Lecter or Gregory House - but he was saying on the Rest is Football podcast that Isak seemed like a very decent guy when he met him and he was a "manager's dream". Until this latest saga he has come across quite well. Something happened.

All feels a bit like the end sequence of Requiem for a Dream. Fast forward a few years, we end up having to sell Miley to Brighton for £30m. Who sells him to Strasbourg where he never plays. Villa end up having to buy him for £90m and Newcastle just start accepting point deductions for overpaying for players from League One, the only semi-viable market not captive to the cartel.
-
The offer feels performative tbh. It was always going to be rejected. "Oh well, guess we'll have to put up with each other for a bit longer eh, Isak."
-
This seems unfair tbh. I'm sure many of us have been in positions where we've been the good soldier on the basis of reopening contract positions at a specified future point in time. I know fans are tribal and will back club > player every time, but I wouldn't be surprised if the club had fucked him on pay. That doesn't excuse his response at all but I doubt the club's hands are clean either.
-
This is all absolutely crackers The timeline seems to indicate a representative of Newcastle was in dialogue with Isak about a pay rise. Then Mitchell said "no", and Isak downed tools realising how few cards he held. A proper mess. Can't sell him for undervalue though. The cartel have created this market where a 28 year old Brentford striker is worth £60m to them. Even £130m is nowt these days. I'd get him back to the table, mend fences and negotiate a non-wage-structure-shattering pay rise for this season linked to performance, with NDA clauses included. He wants money he feels (perhaps not unfairly given his talents and dialogue to date) he is due. More money will get him part way there and benefit the club this season if we can extract performances from him. Apologies from both sides might be required if he was misled by a club representative. I'd just not sell him unless an utterly ludicrous offer came in. It is about the principle now and the precedent set for others at the club IMO. Isak has already repaid the £63m outlay. If he won't negotiate in good faith, the better option is make him see out his contract.
-
Should put in a bid for Mateta. Similar age. Everyone does this for long enough and half the forwards in the league will be on strike At least makes it better that Isak is not available for Newcastle.

I hope there is more organic rotation in the team in general, rather than using players until the point of burn out/injury.
