  1. No it's not that. I just can't believe you weren't following the club with Solano, Bellamy, Shearer et al. Feels like you've been around since then.
  2. I've had to sit down, Deuce. Don't know why I find this so shocking.
  3. I'm too emotionally cowardly to complete this exercise, and my view of the best XI are coloured by favourites. Cracking OP though. If we're building a real team, not just a Galacticos-on-paper, I think I'd struggle to leave out prime Tiote in a way, who was Kante before Kante was Kante. But I think Tonali could surpass him. I feel like I definitely overrate Ba, relative to the rest of our fanbase too. I'm not saying he's ahead of Shearer or Isak, who are the standout favourites, but he'd make my subs bench ahead of other popular choices because of his ability to raise the level of those around him. Then there's the nostalgia/being a kid factor - where I don't remember the 90s team quite so well/accurately. Woodgate is the best central defender I've seen in Newcastle colours. Huge fan of Shay Given, great shotstopper. Lovely bloke. Never once felt confident with him for penalties. Don't think we've had a truly outstanding goalkeeper in my time, tbh.
  4. Ange has really jumped the shark.
  5. It's 1am and I'm doing the same on Bluesky. Thankfully it's Bluesky and I managed to finish reading all three tweets rather quickly.
  6. I think we won the transfer, AC Milan.
  7. I don't have a problem in saying Newcastle are a nasty team in the same way Arsenal are - and the way that any team in 2024 has to be, in order not to be soft, or to get pushed around. The primary difference is the very sincere pearl-clutching reaction they have to being on the receiving end of what is usually a milder dosage of their own medicine. I actually still like Saka and a few other Arsenal players, but Arteta is utterly rotten.
  8. Tonali was excellent without his buddy Bruno. Didn't think he was great at all, a bit panicky and frazzled in fact, but glad Willock got some minutes. And Botman did great to get through another 90.
  9. It's mad isn't it? I was thinking the same thing. The Arsenal fans who loved Wenger football (along with everyone else), now have become the Bolton and Stoke that they despised.
  10. That performance was all heart. Wow. Incredible effort from everyone. Arsenal completely out of ideas.
  11. PSR prevents me from spunking money up the wall.
  12. It's a grey area IMo. If you're playing in the 2014 Germany men's national team, squaring it makes complete sense. He's a forward though and he's got enough goal to aim at, the ball is set,... I think it's a suboptimal decision to square it to an on-rushing Maguire. Understandable that he's in a low confidence moment though. I feel bad for the guy.
  13. Zirkzee should have taken it on. Clearly not feeling confident atm.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

Rather spend that on him than Guehi.
  15. Yeah fantastic results. Right in the mix. Thought we could have managed the game/fitness a bit better, and weren't as ruthless as in recent weeks - but can't argue with 6 points on the road against clubs who you would have thought will figure things out to some degree or other by May.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

    How much would Mbuemo cost?
  17. They'll throw the book at him, if they have any bottle.
  18. He's great on the mic tbf, dodging these twatty questions.
  19. Should have been an exceptionally fun watch with generous helpings of backpay payback. But entitled prick that I am, I found that quite frustrating. There was a gulf in quality and we had an early two goal lead. Yet why we continued to do most of the running thereafter, especially in a period where fixtures are coming thick and fast, was baffling. It was an immature performance from 2-0. Man Utd were awful but had three really, really presentable chances. The constant high press is crazy IMO. Especially if Howe is allergic to substitutions as he seemed to be until the 82nd minute. Yes, I'm this moany after a 2-0 win away to Man Utd. A fourth clean sheet and win in a row. Spare a thought for my family. That should have been way more demoralising for Man Utd. Anyway, thought Gordon was man of the match by a distance. Isak looked very leggy, but he's Isak so he still scored and frightened the pants off them.
