  1. I'd Play: Harper Donaldson/Tavernier Collo Kadar Enrique Ranger Nolan Guthrie Jonas Shola/Lovenkrands Carroll Obviously Smith will probably play CM and Guthrie RW but i'd really go for them from the off. We need to bounce back and win this and hopefully Forest or WBA slip up.
  2. Harper Simpson Taylor Colo Enrique R Taylor Guthrie Nolan Jonas Ameobi Carroll That's who i'd play. CH will play Smith and/or Butt though. Think we'll win 2 or 3 - nil if we don't play Smith AND Butt
  3. Why oh why did CH take off the one striker that was causing Derby real problems (i.e. Carroll)? He was right to bring on a striker but it seemed obvious that Lovenkrands was not having a good day at the office and should have been the one to make way. Bar Lovenkrands one shot he did pretty much nothing of note and as soon as Carroll went off we created mucless. Carroll and Shola together was obviously the way to go in this instance. Its the same with Harewood i just don't see the attraction. Harper 8 - Couple of top draw saves Simpson 6 Solid at times. But nothing special, especially going forward. They got over alot of crosses from the right. Taylor 7 - Solid in deffence, bad miss. Collo 7- Good Enrique 7.5 - Clearly too good for this league did get a little sloppy late on. Jonas 7.5 - Ran the ball out of defence well. Got alot of free kicks. Smith 5 Certainly nothing special Nolan 6.5 OK got in some good forward positions and had a few good/half decent chances. Magic scoring knack deserted him. Raylor 6 Unlucky hitting the bar with a fantastic free kick, should have scored his one on one. Needed more from him. (suffering from lack of games possibly?) Lovenkrands 5 Poor did very little. Carroll 7 Did well creating for others as usual. Loads of knock downs won and in particular good chip to set S. Taylor up + couple of efforts himself and he should have had a penalty. Shola 5 Poor (arguably should have started though). Ranger 6.5 Lively ish Pancrate 6.5 Lively
  4. Think that is the correct team to play bar maybe Pancrate and thats the coaches call i.e. how fit he is? Hughton has hinted he will start him. I personally think he will start him: Unfortunately i think he may start Butt or Harewood as well which will make it more difficult for us.
  5. Awesome finish, you'd expect from the likes of Henry, Ronaldo ect. Haven't seen a goal of that quality for a while from us. Not saying he's as good as Henry before some div starts, obviously too early to tell about the player but first impression and early signs are very very good.
  6. Yes thats what i'd start with too providing Pancrate's fit enough, has to start playing Gutherie CM and this has to be the perfect time for that. If any of our front two struggle and Shola's fit enough stick him or Ranger on. Raylor unlucky not to be starting too. If he starts Butt and Smith together we'll really struggle. Subs: Krul, Kadar, Raylor, Butt, Harewood?, Ameobi, Ranger
  7. Sell Harper? Is that a joke..... or the one of the most stupid opinions i have come across on this board? England could and have done alot worse lately. Its a complete no brainer he should be kept. Any other keeper of his obvious quality would have walked out on us years ago. I was amazed he stayed his loyalty should now be rewarded. Ok he's not as good as Schmeichel. No one currently is. Schmeichel was arguably the best keeper, certainly one of the greatest keepers of all time. By that logic lets get rid of S Taylor because he's not as good as Rio Ferdinand and get rid of Nolan our top scorer because he's not as good as Pele. Everyone's entitled to their opinion but some people are a bit thick at times.

    No. 1 striker

Agreed. Its either Carroll and Loven or Carroll and Ranger (but too early to tell if Ranger is as good as he could be yet, he needs more games). Ranger scores for fun in the reserves he just needs one or two 1st team goals to boost his confidence and we could have a cracking player on our hands. CH sees him as a super sub at the moment it seems. I'd play Ameobi if we needed a big man type striker and Carroll was struggling for whatever reason. CH seems to really fancy Harewood though. Last game when he finished two excellent heading oppourtunities very well aside (they fell for him perfectly, its happened to me before), he's been crap. I'm confident we'll see his normal crap service resumed in the next few games. He's a complete passenger in most games, he may get lucky if someone gives him a chance on a plate but the rest of the team needs to carry him he offers nothing himself. When we can't get the ball to him he will not drop deep and be able to create anything himself and he's doesn't scrap and fight for every ball the way he should when he's up top. Doesn't seem interested in many 50/50 balls and very hesitant with anything thats not clear cut.
  9. One swallow doesn't a summer make. Comes to mind. CH will stick with Harewood & Smith. I'd play: Harper Simpson Taylor Colo Enrique R Taylor Nolan Gutherie Jonas Lovenkrands Caroll It won't happen but thats our best team in my opinion at the moment. I hope harewood proves me wrong and he turns a corner and starts banging them in. But normal service will soon be resumed with Harewood in my opinion. He finished two fantastic oppourtunities that were perfect for him very well indeed last game and he may bury a few more sitters but thats all. Ronaldo seems to quite fancy him as a player. Lets see if he's right, time will tell probably in the next few games too.
  10. Nolan doesn't need to be mega creative as he sticks it in the back of the net instead! He's indispensable at the moment. However i get your point, see how things go and if we can snap up a quality creative midfielder between now and next season i agree we definately should. But lets get promoted first. Gutherie should start. Completely agree, that's why i was delighted to see Guthrie was going to start in centre midfield against PNE. However, the problem will only really be sorted out by new players if/when we get promoted. Nolan doesn't need to be mega creative as he sticks it in the back of the net instead! He's indispensable at the moment as that lovely knack of scoring goals! This was the difference against PNE. It was the only shot of any quality, something many of our players lack i.e. Harewood, Jonas, Carroll, Smith ect However i get your point, see how things go and if we can snap up a quality creative midfielder between now and next season i agree we definately should. But lets make sure we get promoted first. Gutherie should 100% start imo. My point was Harewood is the weakest link so we need a quality striker first and foremost. As we seem to be lacking quality final ball's and shooting (in particular) in the final third.
  11. Very happy with our keepers and defenders. We just need to try and keep Enrique, Collo, S Taylor, Simpson...well all of them really. Happy with our midfield. Jonas, Gutherie, Nolan, R Taylor ect are all good quality. But we could possibly do with another really good winger - i've no idea what Pancrate is like. Up top we can play Carroll or Ameobi as the big man striker and then there's only Ranger really. Who may come good given games. But I'd like another quality striker with pace and a good eye for goal. Harewood certainly does not fit the bill in the slightest.
  12. If Harewood doesn't start play i think we'll edge it and win. If he plays it will be closer. We may not be able to finish any chances like PNE until Nolan popped up with our one shot of any quality (perfection it was too). We are basically making things harder for ourselves if harewood plays as he needs the rest of the team to carry him. He seems hesitant doesn't get stuck in and looks at 50/50 balls as beneth him expecting to be given everthing on a plate. If Ranger plays he offers plenty of movement and some pace up front which should work well with Carroll. Ranger also drops back into midfield well to help out. He needs more games to prove himself/gain experience. The time is right for him now. CH seem's to see him as a super sub unfortunately.
  13. Harper Simpson Colo Taylor Enrique Taylor Nolan Guthrie Jonas Ranger Carroll Thats the team i'd play. We need one forward with a least some pace. I'll still be happy ish if he plays Smith CM just as long as he does not play bloody Harewood.

    Jonas Gutierrez

Man of the Match today in my opinion. Tireless running up and down the left attacking and defending. Picking the ball up in our box running through half their team to their box. End product is a very mixed bag. If he could only learn to shoot he could be quite a player.
  15. Some slight differences of opinion to Bobyules post. Harper 7 - didn't have much to do. Simpson 6 - solid. I'd like to see him get forward a bit more. Colo 7 - Good enough. Still makes me nervous though Taylor 7 - Good Steady game. Enrique 7 - Too strong for the opposition in this division. Guthrie 5 - Out of position most of the game. Often turned back into trouble and gave the ball away in dangerous situations. Smith 6 - Lucky to stay on the pitch. Gave 100%. Nolan 7 - The difference between the two teams was his sublime finish. Otherwise quiet which was credit to Preston. Jonas 7 - MOM tireless performance picking up the ball in our box and running through their team to their box. If only he could shoot! Harewood 4 - A passsenger, i can't see what Hughton see's in him at all. We need to be starting Ranger and giving him experience. Carroll 6 - Some good spells. Ranger 7 - As always, got stuck in right away. I'd like to see him start. Kadar 6 - Undecided on his ability. Would like to think he could be good but not 100% sure either way yet.
  16. Maybe when we are behind and desperately need a goal it stands a chance. But yes even i'd be surprised if he went that attacking from the kick off. Arguably our most attacking and best team though.
  17. I think we should go for them from the off. This is the team i'd like to see but accept that he'll probably play safe with Butt and/or Smith a combination who struggled against sheffield away in my opinion (yes i know we won, but we really struggled in central midfield, allowing them numerous chances). Harper Simpson Taylor Coloccini Enrique Raylor Nolan Guthrie Gutierrez Ranger Carroll Subs- Krul, Kadar, Butt, Smith, Geremi, Lovenkrands, Harewood
  18. Sol Campbell was a undoubtably a top quality fantastic player in his time. But i woulden't buy him now for the following reasons: High Wages. He's on his last legs with a suspect temperment. Taylor and Collocini are quality and performing well. We need to be building for the future. We should be looking at bright young up and coming talent to challenge Collo and Taylor.
  19. Agree with your team, bar would maybe have S Taylor in at RB. If the team is as above and especially if Jonas and Martins do make it, confident we'll do well.
  20. Given is our best player. Jonas is good but Martins is our best outfield player imo and by far the most dangerous as far as the opposition are concerned. Two footed, young, blistering pace, good in the air, hard worker, good foil for Owen and a rocket of a shot on him makes up for his lack tactical awareness. Owen is the best at sticking the ball in the back of the net but Martins creates opportunities from nothing for himself and others as well as scoring and being able to tear a hole in any opposition back 4 forcing them back.
  21. Duff left back Would love us to give a debut to Kadar at LB, so CNZ could play on the wing. Won't happen obviously Yes Duff can play LB. He had one of his best games for us there. Zoggys obviously much better on the LW. Kadar i haven't seen much of so can't really comment. JK will play Duff either LW or up front probably but i certainly woulden't
  22. If Martins is out our chances are very very slim. Carroll to come in/on if Owen or Martins can't/don't make it. I'd go with this if everyone is fit. Given Edgar - Taylor - Coloccini -Duff Jonas - Butt - Guthrie - Zoggy Owen Martins Subs: Harper, AN other Geremi, AN other Carroll, Xisco, Ranger Geremi right and Jonas left would be another good option imo
  23. Did his knee last season and was out for 6 months iirc. Pretty sure he was injured for most of the summer too, when he was writing columns for the BBC. Not the first, nor the last, footballer to suffer a big drop in form after such a serious injury. Hope it's not permanent, he has the talent to be amongst the best in the Premiership, and was the real star a year and a half ago when Dunne and Richards were the in-form central defence partnership in the Premiership. Agreed
  24. It would be great it if it was us. However away from dreamworld and in reality it would be amazing if we just managed to keep hold of our best players..Martins, Owen, colo, bassong, zoggy, enrique ect i have a horrible feeling we'll be losing one or more.
