Agreed. I think we are all desperate to see if he and Owen can hit it off together. I really hoping they can obviously, but i have niggling doubts as Martins isn't the most visionary of passers and of course theres no guarantee Owen will ever be the player he was either. I'm also really looking forward to Shola coming back as i think Martins will really benefit playing off him or Carroll.

he hasn't impressed maybe he deserves more time but on what we've seen so far, we need better. Gooch, Bramble and Moore should all be booted out. Taylor is top quality we need a top quality partner for him we should keep and work on improving Ramage,Hunty and Edgar as back ups.

Milner is easily our player of the season imo. He's been consistantly good and occaisionally excellent. Very inventive not just hoof and run around like a headless chicken. When we don't have the ball he gets back well to help Nobby and when we have the ball he's always wanting it trying to get into space to make himself a good option, he's very hardworking, is only 21 and has an excellent excellent hard working positive attitude that others could definately learn from. Taylor and Butt have also been Good players and Nobbys been good at RB too. Martins looks impressive too but needs a better partner up top.

Taylor our only good quality CB + he's getting better and better, i'm a big fan. Moore's past it and Titus is baffling as he has the odd good game but more shite ones so get rid of both. I'd like to have seen Hunty given a decent shot at CB and Edgar at either LB or CB. However these two positions are top priority imo come the summer.

Rather have Shola than Anelka never mind Martins!!! Next season we need to try: Martins Owen or Owen Ameobi/Carroll or Martins Ameobi/Carroll If Dyer ever comes good again we could even try him again too!!

Agree 100%, i thought bowyer was absolutly crap for us but superb at Leeds, got complacent possibly?I fear Duff may now be in exactly the same boat and only here really to pick up his wages. Time for a big clear out including Roeder, Bramble, Luque, Moore and Car. Worried about Duff, Zoggy and Owen but know they may need a bit longer yet. Gooch has till the end of the season to prove he's not Titus MK 2.

Work much better if we had a top CB & LB though, i've got a terrible feeling though Car is still in Glen's plans for next season.

If he starts playing the way he can i'd start him Ameobi LW is a tricky choice as Duff's out, Zoggy and Dyer are crap atm and Milner seems to be our only decent winger atm so keep him and Nobby on the right as they work well together. Decided to opt for Dyer although if Zoggy is loking sharp i'd put him in. Maybe even Luque if looking sharper than than Dyer or Zoggy although i'm not a fan.

None of them there all crap imo. If we got good offers for Owen and Duff i'd sell them too!! As Owen's going to be injured alot and Duff is very overated.

Bad idea imo Why not play Martins in goal? In all seriousness Taylor is our only good CB who is really on form, so why play him anywhere else but CB?

Nonsencial to not put our best team out and make risks like that - when you consider if we win this game, we're potentially two points away from European qualification. Dyer is better than Carroll, obviously, but has been awful of late - that's the only 'risk' selection-wise. I'd rather play N'Zogbia at left-back than Carr or Babayaro, Edgar showed more potential in a couple of games than Onyewu ever has here, and Luque will certainly do no worse than Duff. Edgar i'll give you - he's definitely looked assuring at centre-back and i'd like to see him there more. N'Zogbia has not once played left-back in his Newcastle career. If he's too lightweight to play in the centre of midfield, i don't see how he is going to be much better as a defender. It's a huge risk, like i say, because he's never played there before and we don't know what he'll be like. You can say what you like - if you think he'll be better there, that's fine, that's your opinion - but we just don't know; and it's not the time to find out. Carroll's never started a game for us and has spent his career in the academy, plus a few games in the reserves. And he's away from home. While Dyer, although in consistent, is one of those players that if you've got him in the team - you KNOW you have a chance of winning the game. And Duff? I haven't liked him this season, but his last couple of games, he's been good. He faltered in the second half against Arsenal but it wasn't his fault he wasn't taken off. What's the point in dropping him just as he is beginning to perform, just as he is beginning to show his former form as a matchwinner? And for Luque? Bloody hell. I think we'll agree to disagree, mate. Agree with most of that... except - Zoggy has played LB before. Was crap there in all fairness, but he's played LB before. As for Carroll he seems to be on form and he's scoring and wanting to take the step up, so if Dyer's still injured or is crap again then why not see how Martins does playing off a 'Big Man' type Striker, it could really benefit him.

Hunty Zoggy Carroll Luque/Le Sib I'd definately look to bring on Carroll (who seems to be in form and chomping at the bit for his chance), so if Dyer continues his lack of form bring Carroll on imo instead of Le Sib. Its also tough to say who's been worse out of zoggy and Duff so maybe start Duff and if he's crap again try Zoggy or heaven forbid even Luque. Roeder will have to find room for Car no doubt : (

I'd like to see MARTINS & CARROLL up top next game now that Dyers probably out. I think Martins could really benefit playing up top with a 'big man' type striker. Doubt Roeder will have the bottle to try that though :-[ as it'll mean dropping someone.

Harper - 6.5 Didn't have much to do Nobby - 7 ok game one of our better players, got forward well at times, vital clearing header off the line. Gooch - 5 - Sloppy at times Taylor - 8 Cool and collective at the back, several vital tackles MOM Car - 5 Nearly cost us the game, definately not good enough. Duff - 5.5 Poor missed two very good chances. Emre - 6 I rate Emre but he was poor today. Butt - 8 Very good. Milner - 7 Some quality moments plus worked hard as always. Dyer - 5.5 poorish Martins - 6 Worked hard but didn't really get anywhere Zoggy - 5 Worryingly poor this season. Luque - No time to get a rating

Good player but nightmare to manage. He could cause big unrest in the dressing room. Plus we need Defenders not more midfielders!!! Plus Sidwell is very heavilly rumoured to to be coming here. He's a gamble we do not need to take and a player that we do not need.

He's a young kid that we should definately keep on and try to improve. Playing him out of position at LB could destroy his confidence like because he's shit there so pack it in. Got to agree 100% with that Bramble statement mind you.

Why he's stopped playing Edgar after he showed so much promise? Why he picks the likes of Bramble and Car? Why he plays Emre out of position?

After a horrendous start i was prepared to give Roeder a little more time to get it together, until AK and Charlton. Even with injuries we should be pushing at least for 5th and we are not even close and looks like our season is over barring a miricle. Anyone could have told him before AK that we should attack and not defend, especially if the lynchpin of your defence is a certain Titus Bramble, complete suicide really and thats just one of many screw ups. I don't like the teams he picks and the positions he puts players in, i.e. picking Car instead of Nobby at RB and Bramble instead of anyone or Hunty at LB instead of Edgar or playing Emre on the LW instead of CM just completly baffles and frustrates me at times. He seems like a geniunely nice chap, but on another plannet to everyone else at times. He's got till we can get our hands on a decent manager (Shearer or Hindink etc) or should have anyway.
