I like Tevez as a player and I admire him even more for standing up to that Scottish cunt. If I had to chose between Fergie and Tevez, 10 times out of 10, I would pick Tevez as a better person and better ambassador for football. Nothing wrong with connecting with the fans, in fact that's what football should be about. Definitely better than whining like a baby every single time about the ref

I'm with Midds on this. I don't see how you can have it both ways. You either go for the equal vote feel good factor or you focus on getting the big fish. As it is, there is no incentive to invest more than the minimum. I read a few pages back that the incentive to invest more would be that 2% of 20,000K is more than 2% of 1,500K. I'm sorry but that's a silly point. Whilst it is true that if you invest 20,000K you get more returns on absolute level than if you invested just 1,500K, but from an investment standpoint, people (certainly the big fish) look at return of investment (ROI). And given that most savings account would give you more than 2% interest and most mutual funds would give you anywhere between 5-20%, the opportunity cost for investing 20,000K is actually worse than 1,500K. Sure we could say that the contribution is to save the club and not really an 'investment', whilst I can see some people doing that out of love for the club, I can't see any serious money coming in purely based on emotions. For the record, I appreciate the effort (credit where it is due) but I can't see how this will work unles this fundamental issue is addressed.

Couldn't agree more. Johnson get unfair flak for the goals against Slovenia and Croatia but on both occassions, the centre backs just watched the striker head the ball. Terry was slow against Slovenia and caught ball watching against Croatia.

what a load of absolute nonsense, he's was their best player by far last season "Their best player by far last season". Well done, there's plenty of silly exaggerations in this forum, but you've just topped them all! What absolute rubbish! Valencia and Scharner (just to name 2 players) did much better.

For those who thinks Martins does not care for us, go watch again his genuine happiness when socred against Boro and then go fuck off!

Can you imagine the chant of Shola Shola Shola in the Championship!

Rubbish and how short you rmemory is. A few good games by Taylor and a few bad games by Coloccini and the former is suddenly a better defender. You need to cast your memory to some of the goals we conceded earlier in the season to make a better comparision. Yes Taylor has been good in the last couple of games and Yes Colo has been off form, but to say that Taylor is the better player overall is laughable

Asset strip? Do you know what asset stripping it? These people you're referring to are so clever they don't even realise this club is in financial meltdown. They seem to think every penny they put into the club should be free to spend on players. "Where's the season ticket money gone".. its been used to pay Damien f***ing Duff you cretin! So what's the difference between us and the other 80% of the PL in debt? Having a debt isn't a problem as long as you can afford the interest ect. The problem is a debt that's spiralling out of control year after year. £35 million down a hole last year alone for f*** sake!! 80% of PL clubs are not bleeding anywhere near that kind of money. The majority of them would be bankrupt in no time if they did. I suggest you take a look at the accounts of other clubs. I have. I suggest you take a closer look at the accounts. I have. 2 can play this game

Exactly Dave, spot on! One could argue that Jonas should have crossed the ball like a conventional English winger but that is just not the way he has been playing/training. Crespo was probably the last of Argentinian CF who would find those sort of lofted crosses useful. The likes of Tevez would definitely prefer through balls and short passes into the box which is what Jonas is doing. For centre forwards though, there is just no excuse in not attacking the near post time and time again. Wherever you play, it's basic CF play that one CF should stay at the back post and the other should attack the near post. The number of times that Carroll and Ameobi just stood at the far post was just embarassing.

Yes because clubs are all rushing to put top strikers on loan. No offence, but we have to be realistic here. I'd be happy with the Jan window if we end up with Lovenkrads, Nolan, Taylor + 1 more. This doesn't mean that we've got an in depth squad, but we can't buy all at once (especially given the percarious financial position we find ourselves in). Our squad should be good enough though to survive relegation which as much I hate to admit it, surely has to be the goal for this season

rubbish, he's miles behind Joe Cole and Ashley Young for starters. Walcott and SWP are also more effective Blinkered by hatred, Joe Cole has never played consistently well for England. Walcott aside from his hattrick has done jack shit. SWP has very very rarely (almost never) performed for England. Ashley Young is the only one out of the four that has all the attributes to be successful for England and even he is not fully tested at the highest level.

rate solano higher than Keegan??? talking bollox as usual. Oh come on it was obviously a typo and Fredbob was referring to Solano over Beckham. You're just sidestepping the issue i accept, Sbr was a more accomplished manager, than KK, but taking age into account, and the fact keegan , had a better record here. Plus the fact, Keegan has at least one good job left in him. So your case rests on Bobbys age and your stupid idea that "Keegan has at least one good job left in him" A question for yourself. Who the f*** would ever hire Keegan again after yet another walk out? Yes he walked out after the plc at Newcastle, aside from Newcastle, You can hardly blame him for leaving Fulham & not only taking the England job, but taking it when everyone was begging him to. He 'walked out' on England when everyone wanted him to go, and when he held his hands up and said 'I'm not up to the job anymore', yes, he walked out, but take it in the context, everyone wanted him out man, he gave them his wish and was honest about his assesment. After 4 years at Man City he felt he couldnt take them further, felt the club needed a change (after getting promoted first time of asking, and establishing them in the Prem) and said he would not be signing another contract after the current one. So Man City felt it was best if he left early so they could plan ahead. How many other managers can say theyre never been sacked. Not very difficult when he walks out or quits honourably (depending on the view you take) at the slightest hint of trouble. Re England, obviosuly he would have been sacked had he not walked out/quit. For the record, I still think highly of KK (though his latest walk out decreased my rerspect significantly). I just can't agree and will not agree with anyone who says he is a better manager than SBR overall.

That is quite frankly poissibly the worst post I've ever read on this forum, and when I've finished what I've got to do I shall disect every last part of it. Now that must be the most intelligent response I've read on this forum

The number of people wearing KK tinted specs is amazing. KK Vs SBR no contest at all. KK perhaps played slightly more entertaining football but in terms of tactics, dealing with players, composure and possibly transfer dealings, SBR thumps KK many times over. Plus SBR is a man of integrity, he saw the bigger picture and always thought of the club first. He would never walk away from us and leave us to rot, oh and trust me he had his fair share of shitty Chairman (cue for NE5 to join the thread )

Is there nothing we can do like to let him know how much we love him. I mean he probably knows already, but a bit of a reminder never hurts. I'm genuinely gonna be shedding tears when the day comes

You have got to be kidding me or we were watching two very different games. Lennon beat him twice and tried at least 6-7 times with both speed and trickery, that's good enough for me. If you are looking for a LB that keeps Lennon completely quiet, then you're looking for a top notch LB in the mold of Ashley Cole or a younger Maldini and we all know how much they cost.
-
those couple of times being the first half and the second half twice to be exact....don't make it out as if he was raped througout both halves. He won more one on one battles than he lost against Lennon and not many fullbacks can claim that
-
I never realized how fast he was until he matched Lennon for pace. Very very few fullbacks can match him and it was a fucking delight to see that prick Lennon being so frustrated coz for once he could not rely on his speed to skin the fullback. You could see that time and time again he wanted to prove that he can beat Enrique for speed and time and time again he failed. Don't mind getting another LB but only as 2nd fiddle to Enrique. Let the lad grow and develop at St James and he will be awesome!

I know, the f***ing irony. Some seriously f***ed up logic on here. if there is a difference it is that NUSC is a small, newly formed amatuer supporters group which is still finding its feet, while ashley is a professional businessman who owns our club. so you have to hold him to higher standards. are you suggesting that it is the opposite and we're supposed to cut ashley slack for the same faults? if there's anyone out there who pans NUSC for being unprofessional and making jokes and doesnt do the same for ashley (if these quotes are real), then they have an agenda. if there is anyone out there who never believes Sun's football related news but suddenly believes that it is a Gospel of Truth when the news can be used to hit Ashley, then they have an agenda Ashley's remark was a light-hearted throw away comment. If NUSC comments are also light-hearted and not meant to be taken seriously then you have a point. Is it all a big joke then? Alpal, i said if true. these are direct and extended quotes so i would imagine they are for real. Come on, how many times have we seen the Sun coming out with rubbish 'direct and extended quotes'....there's a reason why people call the Sun a cheap tabloid. My point remains, that you seem willing to give more credibility to this particular news compared to previously because it can be used to attack Ashley. In my view your justification is post conclusion. You decided the conclusion first (to accept the news) before justifying it by saying that they are "direct and extended quotes". I honestly can't remember ever using news from the Sun to attack anybody, not even Freddie. Of course with the "if it's true" disclaimer (which I missed), then I agree with your point to a large extent.

I know, the f***ing irony. Some seriously f***ed up logic on here. The logic that thinks the two situations are even comparable is more questionable though, but we aren't really dealing in logic here are we? if there is a difference it is that NUSC is a small, newly formed amatuer supporters group which is still finding its feet, while ashley is a professional businessman who owns our club. so you have to hold him to higher standards. are you suggesting that it is the opposite and we're supposed to cut ashley slack for the same faults? if there's anyone out there who pans NUSC for being unprofessional and making jokes and doesnt do the same for ashley (if these quotes are real), then they have an agenda. if there is anyone out there who never believes Sun's football related news but suddenly believes that it is a Gospel of Truth when the news can be used to hit Ashley, then they have an agenda

himself because Duff is nowhere to be seen. Mick, what are you doing up at this time?
-
Mate, you are right that he barely overlaps to help the attack but I think this is more because of what he has been told as opposed to some 'internal' factors you make out. I remember quite distinctively that in his first few games for us, he did a fair share of overlapping runs even taking on defenders to get a shot in. Since then though he has mainly just tried to cross the ball from very deep position (read halfway line). A new attack minded manager can get him to play like he used to play again, he is still young and will learn and develop. Remember Babayaro anyone?

exactly. bringing Owen on, a bad substitsion? If you Knobs think you can do better . Apply for the job. Did anyone say bringing Owen on was a bad substitution? Bringing him on was the right thing to do. The timing was imperfect but it was the fact that he replaced Gutierrez not Duff that has angered people such as myself. Bang on, wish people read before posting. Nobody has said that bringing Owen in was wrong, it was however too late. When he did finally moved his ass to get him on, he still screwed it up by taking out Jonas instead of Duff. And don't get me started on the fact that he kept Butt and Duff for 90 minutes when we had Guthrie, Charlie and Geremi on the bench. I don't mind us losing a game, but I want to see our manager go out and do something to try and win the game. Bring on substitutes to freshen things up, show some urgency and courage to try and change the game. JK did none of that, not even close.
