If we get CL I wouldn’t be extremely surprised to see us spending up towards 150m. Especially if we sell Longstaff for example. I reckon that we’ll be able to do some great commercial deals as well to strengthen us financially going forward.

Pretty much how I see it. Yes there’s been a couple of incidents for whatever reasons, and they don’t look very nice. Having said that, it doesn’t define entirely that person X is 100% this or that. Hopefully he’ll have learned something from it. From a pure footballing perspective I just really really think his attributes would take us up another dimension, easily. Imo for what I think and visualise in my head I reckon for what he’d bring to our arsenal and he’d make the team and other players around him so much more dangerous. My view on it is that while 60m is a lot of money I can see it being a bargain in the near future when I consider how much of a difference he could/would make for us. I reckon that it’s much easier to find a CB that is cheaper than 50m but one that still brings 90% of what the more expensive one does. I see a player like Cunha helping us to score so many more goals in general, and not just because of his goals/assists.

I agree that we need a RW, there’s no doubt about it. Personally I would rather have Cunha and a different RW than Mbeumo. If we can’t afford him. Also not THAT impressed with Mbeumo in general play. Our style of play going mostly wide can be a bit too predictable at times in some games. I want us to have something different there through the middle as well. Which would also give more space for the likes of Isak and Gordon and so on.

When you say young/low cost midfielder/striker I wonder who we can find that isn’t an absolutely massive drop in quality. Say that either Isak or Joelinton/Bruno is out for a month or two so next season it could mean that our season is slightly fucked. We can’t go into next season with just Isak and our midfield 3. Even as it is now our midfield and link up with Isak isn’t really THAT good every game either. I also don’t rate Joelinton as much as some do. I absolutely love him and he’s a great player/tool to have, especially defensively and the ground he covers. I would love a new GK too who's good with his feet. I also want a new RW, but it doesn’t have to be a 60m one if the right one isn’t available, or if there’s someone slightly cheaper with massive potential that is already VERY good. A player like Cunha would give us a whole another dimension in our play and unpredictability . He would improve us more on the whole than a new GK would. Plus being a good option if Isak needs rested and rotated. I see him making our other better players so much more dangerous too.

Whoever we sign they must have really high technical ability and composure. It’s a massive priority imo for us to evolve to the next level. Doesn’t mean we have to sign weak lazy midgets with bad character. We need some guile in there. Intensity is our identity but we can’t rely on just that. Being able to control games better when it comes to ball retention also strengthens you defensively. We lose the ball too easily too often and that puts us in unnecessary situations where the opposition can gain momentum in games. As well as us having to waste more energy.

Sign a such expensive player for rotation? Come on, as if last season didn’t happen. football isn’t about 11 players. It’s also about being able to rest and replace people without the quality dropping massively, and competition. Different sets of skills depending on situation as well. Players that can make. Change from the bench in certain tactical moves. im gonna be quiet about Cunha now. I just feel like he would take us to the next level. We play 3cm and we only have 3 of good enough consistent quality, even then that can be improved upon. Plus all the other roles he can offer something in. And no, I don’t see him as the typical CM type. He doesn’t need to be. He’s different class to Joelinton when it comes to football ability. Obviously not the same defensively.

He wouldn’t have to play like one of our traditional CM exactly in the same way as our current ones do. it’s all about how we shift the balance. We play with a 3, we can easily accommodate Cunha to work. It’s like he would be a typical CM in a “442”. Formations aren’t set in stone when you look at how players actually flow and move around the pitch. Except for Bruce maybe.

It’s not like we play with an entirely flat and straight midfield three even if it looks like that on paper. I have zero doubt that Cunha can play on the left of the midfield three with more license to roam forward and with less defensive responsibility with Bruno and Tonali being slightly withdrawn/less offensive. Even then, all of our midfielders make forward runs and interchange every now and then. IF (big IF) we go for him and get him, I’m absolutely certain that Eddie would make it work, easily.

Yeah let’s expect our midfield three to play every game at the highest level, with even more games next season. Also without competition more or less as it is now. Even then, we lack in midfield at times in different scenarios. I’m 100% certain that Cunha would improve our midfield/attack VERY much overall over a whole season. Absolutely zero doubt about that. While also being cover for Isak

I wouldn’t sign him to play as a RW, and I don’t think Eddie and co plan to use him there either if we were to sign him. He could easily play in a midfield three as the most offensive of the three. That doesn’t mean that he’s a “fixed 10” which he obviously can play as we all know. Eddie likes fluidity, interchanges. It’s a lot of money, but for the quality and his versatility it really isn’t that much when you consider that he’d be one of our best players from the off as well as giving us tons of options with his versatility. Never mind giving us something different in many ways. Sign him and we don’t necessarily need to spend 30-40m on a decent striker. Strikers that also are very difficult to find, especially the ones willing to sit on the bench a lot of the time. Getting Cunha in doesn’t mean that we can’t get a RW. Also, just because we need a RW doesn’t mean that it’s got to be a 50-60m Mbeumo. We don’t really know what we can/can’t afford. CL and all that makes a big difference too if we make it.

I’m absolutely baffled by reading here and there where people say ”where would Cunha fit in? He wouldn’t fit in” and so on… Looking at it from a pure footballing perspective, he walks into our team, as well as making those around him more dangerous . As a team we would improve massively by having someone like him. He would be game changing for us . He is extremely versatile and would also make us much less predictable in so many ways. We need more technical ability and X factor in the team. He has great pace and good physical attributes and more importantly, end product. 62m is obviously a lot of cash, but imo he would easily be worth it. iF he did sign for us I could see him going up another level or two as well. Imagine the extra space players like Gordon and Isak and others would get by having him in and around. Never mind a closer progressive forward pass for Tonali and Bruno. Eddie would easily get the team flow with him in it, no fixed positions as on paper. Ive been so so impressed by him for years, but back then he used to do everything great but that last little bit was missing then.

Guler would be the dream imo. I don’t see him wanting to leave though.

I still think we might catch them tbh. It’s about 5 teams going for 3 places to get to the CL (most likely). Having said that, things can change.

He’s the very least of our worries when it comes ball retention and decision making We are poor too often in possession in general, and when it comes to ball retention. Hoping that it can improve because it really needs to.
