He was virtually Celtic manager and walked away coz they wouldn’t give more staff. He definitely has a stubborn side

I think this is very clear that he is and I have always said that it will be his downfall.

I want to know who was potentially on our list of targets for RW if Tosin had joined. As that signing clearly meant we wouldn’t have spent on a CB, so the RW must’ve had a list we had semi contacted?

Find it so hard to get my head around Howe saying no to Chalobah for £20m. Come 26/27 season we’re going to need two new RCBs, so going to be in same situation we are now, and even if we signed a marquee RCB, a young one would be needed so a Hujsen for example. Just feels very short sighted to fixate on just one signing.

Everything about the club feels very short sighted and naive, thats the problem.

  3. Or Howe shouldnt only want PL players?

I dont think there is a blameless person at the club. Eales has to fix this mess, no matter what this means. We must start have proper summer Windows again.

  4. I´m not sure Howe is blamless for the injury situation.

Anyway. The football nowdays are bigger that what happends on the pitch. To put it clear, I like Howe very much as a person and leader, I´m not just all against him. Instead I think what I feel is best for the club from now, not what was best 3 years ago. Without Howe we wouldn´t be where we are.

    Kanji man ...

This is so much bigger than just these two signings at this point.

However, it does seem to be exposing an issue in the way our structure has been put in place.

Once we had Amanda and Mehdrad bring Howe in before a DOF and allow him the freedom to run the recruitment, the precedent was set.

In actuality, the only way this whole thing would have worked is if the owners gave a contract to Amanda and Mehdrad to continue to run things, and perhaps promoted Nickson to DOF as he was already working in tandem with Howe regarding recruitment.

Ashworth has since come in and there have been issues there, with some not so ideal transfer decisions during that period. We tried for Freedman who seemed keen, but that fell through, and now you have to wonder if he heard something he didn't like during the process. Mitchell supposedly turned the role down first time around, until we went back to him and supposedly gave him more say over things.

Mitchell then comes in, and Howe's initial reaction was very tense, and stated concerns about being allowed to work how he had been previously. However, that was under Amanda and Mehdrad, who gave him final say on all matters, and supposedly isolated Ashworth. That didn't look like it was going to be allowed to continue with Amanda and Mehdrad now having left.

Howe has maintained we are shopping from a small pool of players, which I always found odd. But fine, if he states his preferences being from that pool. However, any difficulties with getting those players, and the DOF has to be allowed to move for alternatives.

It's looking like this is a huge issue though, and if so, I just don't see how it can continue.

It is going to be impossible for the DOF to put a plan in place without the cooperation from his manager/head coach.

If by tomorrow we have some other targets come in instead, then that would be a huge relief, and would point towards a more collaborative way of working that could come together over time.

If not though, I think we have a problem that is going to come to a head.

Extremely well put. Can only say that I feel the same way about the situation. Can't see it ending well and since the club seems to be going in one direction, it's quite obvious who will lose that battle.

  6. Howe has done an amazing job and is an amazing person. But I think it's just us who hold him in such high regard, while others don't.

I just can't stop feeling (both what I see on and off the pitch) that this is it. He feels too stubborn with who he can work with (staff and players) and I'm not sure about the football either, which is not developing in the right direction at all I think.

There are so many good coaches in the PL, and often I think Howe loses these duels head to head. And with this obsession at only getting the "elite" players or none, we are starting to fall behind I think. We have an old team with many holes. With this summer, I just can't see it ending well.

Honestly some people need to switch off and have a lie down.

Yeah let’s sack the manager as he asked for a certain defender who ended up being too expensive.

But we cant effored buying all the players Howe want and instead he rather goes with players like Krafth. Its crazy.

Yeah as I mentioned somewhere else, they’ve stepped away from deals before when the price is too high. I have no issue with them doing that but less than 48hrs before the window ends with no obvious back up that we know of yet is ridiculous.

Its even more ridiculous if it was Guehi or none. Looking at how this has been going, it makes sense..

First leaks of who’s to blame. I’m shocked.

Mitchell for me, will want to bring in players that can have profit. If Howe is saying this or no-one, it’s drawing an early battle between the two and club will have to back one long term.

    Surly backing Mitchell?

Cant see this work at all. Im sorry, I would replace Howe with another manager that can work worh Mitchell.

Not sure Howe has what it takes anymore to be elite either. Thanks, but its time to move on.

Why do people keep saying this man  There is zero evidence that Howe is the one insisting on Guehi. We operate by transfer committee.

Pretty sure Howe it been said that he has veto. Anyway that was how it was. Can´t see that it has changed. Absolutly know way Mitchell has picked the targets (and lack of them) this summer. Just started.

I don't really get the arguments about it's dragged on too much or that Palace are somehow showing us up.

We've submitted some bids, and they've decided they don't match their valuation. Fair enough.

We don't think he's worth what they're asking so haven't submitted a higher bid. Also fair enough.

By the end of the transfer window someone might blink, but in the meantime it's not really dragging on in the sense that very little will actually be happening. Once the bids were rejected it was always going to be a case of it something happens it'll probably be at the end of the window.  In the meantime maybe we'd have signed someone else. Maybe they'd have found someone willing to bid more. If not, there'll be a decision to be made.

The only way we'd have him here already is if we offered more, and a lot of us on here don't think we should. Maybe we end up paying it on deadline day anyway? Perhaps, but with FPP being what it is I think we had to at least try not having to pay full whack.

As for the Palace showing us up bit I don't really care if SP acts like a bell end in public about it. I'd rather our transfer dealings were dealt with in private but we can only control our side. In terms of the actual negotiations it all seems standard enough to me.

So why go after this type of players?

I know it´s the same loop. But we seem to complain about FPP, still we only want to buy PL proven players that cost a fortune, which make our sqaud lacking big time. Oh, and we also dont sell any players. Just keeps giving them new contract so we then (acording to everyone) cant sell them.

We're so close to PSR limits because we've literally pushed as far as we can without breaking limits or selling star players. Commercially we're back ahead of "the pack" but obviously still way off the Sky 6.  We're 3 years in and we're competing with clubs who've been building their infrastructures and contacts for 20-30 years, we stood still for 14 of those.

We're still pushing for a player that would be a club record transfer if we get it. Opinions on if he's worth it, if that's best use of £60m plus are natural but there's been some fucking drivel on here.

I agree there are a lot of really good things, both now and last few years, that has been really good. But it still doesnt make the club free from criticism. I, and it feels other too, just feel that we have lost our way and there are so many teams there about that the start of this season is not looking good.

You can be pleased with everything that has happend. But it feels that something is off and the club it self doesnt really know what they want, or there are different groups that want different things. Someone will have to give. I dont Howe start the PL season next year.

I find it hard to believe Mitchell and Nickson are wanting to spend the entire summer chasing high profile barely obtainable premier league players. I do think there is a schism that has fucked up the transfer window.

    I agree fully on this.

Tbf, he was shunted out wide in a shit show 442 for a lot of the first half

Not only this game. Was just the icing.

But yeah, have no idea what Howe is trying to do anymore.

  15. I´m starting be to tired of Joelinton. He´s such a bad footballer. Him being physical (sometimes) is not enough anymore. Not only today, bad he´s a big reason we dont have controll of games. And that "header"??

Aye. Eddie's loyalty to players who are not up to scratch is quite annoying. Murphy being another. Think he needs to be more ruthless. Although what's going on transfer wise is anyone's guess at this point, but ruthless it definitely isn't.

One of the biggest disappointments of all. Instead, the crap players get 1000 opportunities and even a new contract. It's crazy.

Aye, the idea that we can’t get at least one or two bridging players in that improve us but aren’t elite or elite prospects is a bit stupid if it is the case that we’re only shopping in that market. Almost every side in the league has a better right wing than us

It´s absurb. We could easily upgrad spots in the squad and starting eleven for peanuts. Fine if we wants some elite too, but as long as Murphy, Almiron, Longstaff, Krafth etc get minuts in the starting eleven there is something wrong.
